from the American Thinker:
Why the Left is Weaponizing Science
According to some “experts,” science can sometimes be settled, meaning that in certain areas of study, the evidence has been deemed so overwhelming and indisputable that further debate is not only unnecessary, it is forbidden. Only one interpretation of this evidence is possible. However, science is really nothing more than a tool, developed by humans for the purposes of studying our universe and the world on which we live. And scientists are human beings, which means they are prone to making mistakes. It would be just as silly to genuflect as a show of reverence to science as it would be for a carpenter to worship his hammer. It is helpful to remember that even the person who graduates from medical school at the very bottom of the class has still earned the right to be called “doctor.” read more

You know how we always hear news people describe someone as the alleged or suspected killer, not just a killer who murdered X number of people, or whatever.
It’s because there is supposed to be an assumption of innocent, lacking any evidence and due process.
Well, in Iceland, a murder on a massive scale took place and the funeral service was just held recently. The service was held for the victim, “the once huge Okjokull (OK) glacier.” The glacier perished some five years ago, in 2014, yet it’s taken all this time to decide to hold a funeral? Better late than never, I guess. As the old saying goes: It ain’t getting any deader!
I’d like to say, after all this time, a suspect is in custody. But no one is using the term suspect. Rather, the environmentalists and virtue signaling hangers-on that attended the service know full well who perpetrated this act. They aren’t using the terms suspected or alleged. Oh no – the perp has been tried and convicted in the world environmental court.
The murderer is of course … Global Warming, or Climate Change. read more

The only thing settled about science is that it seems never to actually be settled. Yet we stupid people in flyover country who have the nerve to question the “scientific community,” are constantly told how wrong we are.
As we are not intelligent enough, we must therefore relinquish our common sense to the smart people who are more than willing and ready to step in and educate us. Check that. They don’t actually educate us. Rather they just demand we comply because…you know…the science is settled.
Obviously this is the way it is regarding global warming, or climate change. If you don’t believe the science is settled, you are labeled a denier, like some kind of heretic. But it’s not just the science of global warming that the experts claim is settled. Other “settled” sciences have mysteriously become unsettled.
Almost two years ago, March 2015, I wrote an article entitled, “The Silliness of Settled Science.”
In it I chronicled a host of supposedly “settled” sciences such as drinking milk will build strong bones due the calcium in it. Turns out this was not settled. The latest science claims the opposite. Yet for decades we have preached to our children to “drink your milk.” read more

How often have we heard the ridiculous claim that such and such a science is settled?
It doesn’t matter what it is and normally there is a political component attached to it, but we’ve heard it hundreds of times on a myriad of different topics ranging from salt to sugar to fatty foods to energy drinks to coffee to fracking to how much sleep we need and of course the grand daddy of them all – global warming.
For decades experts preached the settled science that milk is rich in calcium and will build strong bones, yet in October of last year Forbes published a study from Sweden that found milk not only didn’t strengthen bones but was bad for the heart.
How long we’ve been warned by the American Heart Association regarding our salt intake? We were all going to die because we consume too much salt. The New England Journal of Medicine even published a study entitled “Global Sodium Consumption and Death from Cardiovascular Causes.”
The study concluded that salt kills 1.65 million people a year worldwide. It’s the New England Journal of Medicine so naturally it must be settled science – right?
Not quite. That same auguste Journal later published a study that says the Heart Association’s maximum intake of salt is so low it might actually pose a danger. So is this the new settled science? Who are we to believe? read more
