As surprising as it may be, feminist celebrities have come out in support of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey-Ford.
Obviously, I’m joking. Of course it’s no surprise that celebrities blindly endorse any accuser of sexual misconduct by a man against a girl or woman. I’d be shocked if they hadn’t.
Many in Hollywood will give their knee-jerk endorsement to every leftist cause under the sun, often, like this, with zero evidence to back up the assertion. But evidence is passé. Evidence has no place when virtue signaling. Symbolism is all that matters. Look at us, standing up for women’s rights. And we should be taken seriously because we’re actresses who get paid to play pretend.
And what we’re learning about women’s rights is very similar to what we learned about Black Lives Matter. A couple years ago, we learned that black lives matter, and only black lives. A few politicians found that out the hard way when they dared to exclaim that “all lives matter” and got shouted down and booed off the stage, never to be heard from again.
Now, today’s lesson in radical leftist civics is that women’s rights trump men’s rights.
In fact, it’s worse than that. According to this current scenario, men, represented by Judge Kavanaugh, have no rights at all. The mobocracy has spoken and declared that the accused waives his right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This sad and ugly display is frankly a great civics lesson. It’s a lesson in contrast between pure democracy, or mob rule, and a constitutional republic, where the rights of the individual trump the “feelings” of the current mobocracy.
