Scientists at the University of California, Berkeley have used the CRISPR gene-editing tool to give fruit flies an evolutionary advantage they’ve never had before. Video Podcast – Ben Shapiro Speaks – No One Riots

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Conservative Commentator, author and all around smart guy, Ben Shapiro, was finally given the opportunity to speak on the campus of UC Berkeley a couple of days ago.

The run up to, during and after his speech was an expensive and logistical nightmare. All so one conservative could give one speech on an ultra-liberal college campus.

Shapiro says it cost around $600,000 for police to protect the event. Because of the heavy police presence, it went off with few problems. Think about that. This was a single speech given by a single conservative. It wasn’t a gathering of conservative thinkers – not a round table or conference. It was one guy.

Unlike previous Conservative speakers, Shapiro, and the campus, was afforded the protection necessary for the speech to go off virtually without a hitch. read more

Robot Practically Thinks for Itself

Researchers at UC Berkeley have developed a robot that can pick up awkward and unusually shaped objects.

The robot learned how to grasp different objects by studying a virtual library of 10,000 3D objects and suitable grasps.

When a new object is placed in front of the bot, its deep-learning system quickly figures out what grasp the arm should use.

When the robot was unsure of how to grasp an object, it poked it to figure out how to better grasp it. After doing this, it was successful at lifting objects 99 per cent of the time

But particularly recently, as many States are pressured by far-left groups like “Fight for 15,” to increase the minimum wage, it is the fast-food employee which takes center stage.

Article after article has been written by liberal economists attempting to convince the public that a wage hike will not only not have a negative effect, but instead will be a positive.

In 2014, Jared Bernstein, a former chief economist to Vice President Biden, took such a position. But we on the right understand that words mean things and as such, when reading a post written by a leftist, one must read a little more carefully.

Arguing that “raising the minimum wage doesn’t lead to layoffs,” he wrote: “Those who argue that increases in the minimum wage will lead to large numbers of layoffs have a problem: They’re consistently wrong. Job losses from moderate increases in the minimum wage have repeatedly been shown to range from zero to ‘small…’” read more
