Twitter executives testified Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee about the company’s role in perpetuating the spread of fake news by “bots” and trolls. The briefing was held behind closed doors.

This is the next step in the committee’s investigation into social media platforms.

Valarie Plame Wants to Delete Trump

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Did you hear? Valerie Plame-Wilson wants to purchase Twitter for the sole purpose of putting a stop to President Trump’s tweeting. She even set up a GoFundMe page  for fellow leftists to help her in the purchase. Last I checked Valerie had raised almost $14,000 of the $1 billion she desires for the purchase.

Assuming she gets any where close to the billion, it’s still a tad shy of what those in-the-know think it’s is worth. Last September Forbes estimated  Twitter to have a “market valuation of $15.7 billion.” That is considerably higher than today’s market cap of $12.33 billion, but still a far cry from her fundraising goal.

On the GoFundMe page, Plame-Wilson writes that, “Donald Trump has done a lot of horrible things on Twitter. From emboldening white supremacists to promoting violence against journalists, his tweets damage the country and put people in harm’s way. But threatening actual nuclear war with North Korea takes it to a dangerous new level.”

This was her response to Trump’s tweet from August 11th, where he warned, “Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path.” read more

Did the Susan Collins Airport Applause Event Really Happen?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

I’m not saying Susan Collins is a liar – but maybe she is. My personal opinion is that Collins’ story of her receiving spontaneous applause from people in a Bangor, Maine airport terminal may have been fabricated.

At best there may have been a few people applauding, but that’s it. However, like whisper down the lane, the story has morphed into something grander. And if there were a few people clapping, who’s to say it wasn’t staged by her people?

How can I say this about the distinguished Senator from Maine? Easy – liberals lie and she’s a liberal democrat who just happens to have an ‘R’ after her name. To her, as all liberals – everything boils down to politics and gaining a political advantage. And if one has to, say, stretch the truth to gain advantage – so be it.

“I got off the plane and there was a large group of outbound passengers, none of whom I happened to know. And spontaneously, some of them started applauding, and then virtually all of them started to applaud. It was just amazing. I’ve never had the happen in the 20 years that I’ve been privileged to serve in the Senate. So it was very encouraging and affirming,” Collins said. read more

Another Hollywood Nimrod Shows His True Colors

Most people don’t the name Patton Oswalt – or maybe most people do and it’s just me.

Turns out he’s an actor, voice-over actor and comedian. He’s one of those actors whose face is easily recognizable, but unlike a-listers, the name rarely gets paired with the face. The old – “I know that guy, but don’t know his name.” He has been in many films, in TV shows such as King of Queens and was the voice of Remy, the rat in hit cartoon movie Ratatouille, which grossed well north of a half a billion dollars. My boys and I love that movie, but I now may love it a bit less.

In another example of Twitter is mostly for the stupid, Mr. Oswalt took to it to express his callous and ignorance after the Ft Lauderdale Airport shootings.

Oswalt tweet: “Hoping the #FortLauderdale shooter is a Trump supporter AND a Muslim so we can all focus on gun control & access to mental health care.” read more

Podcast – Black Lives Matter is Angry – Black Panthers Want Their Own Nation – This is Why France is Getting Hit

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement are mad that the horrific terror attack in Nice France is taking the spotlight away from their pet cause. Yes, they have the nerve to claim the Nice attack was deflect attention away from the plight of black Americans and instead mourn whites.

The People’s New Black Panther Party wants its own nation. Unfortunately the nation they desire to form just happens to already be 5 of our Southern States here in America. But no matter – they have a plan.

Why was France hit by Islamic terrorism once again? It seems this country is becoming a number one target for the Islamic State and many are wondering why. Is there a reason why ISIS is concentrating on the French. Well, yes there are several reasons. Listen and find out.

Is Just Being a Normal American Not Enough Anymore?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

A few years ago an article was posted entitled, “The Problem With Average Not Being Good Enough.”

The author, Brianna Wiest, attempted to explain the current human condition of many young people. Although she never explicitly stated it regarded young adults, I surmised it must be so being that she spoke of college and other concerns that millennials and generation whatever follows appear to have.

The article was a bit confusing at times but the gist was that unapologetically being yourself and not particularly special is not a bad thing. In other words (I think) one does not have to bow to social pressure or strive to be exceptional just to be noticed – that being “average” is not so bad.

While I disagreed with a lot of her “average is good enough,” assuming I understood the new age speak, her premise, whether she knows it or not, is quite prescient, but not in the way she thinks. read more

Setting the Record Straight on the Carson/Cruz Dust Up

by: the Common Constitutionalist

On Wednesday I was a little hard on the Cruz campaign. In fact I did something I accused his campaign of doing – not fully checking the background of a story before putting it out there.

I’m speaking of the Iowa Caucus and the ensuing firestorm caused by the spread of a rumor that Dr. Carson was hanging it up after Iowa. The Donald is so upset over losing to Ted Cruz that he wants a mulligan – a do-over, like what you get when you’re five. He’s now saying it’s not his fault he lost. What a child.

How does that even make any sense, other than to assume that every voter who baled on Carson went directly to Cruz, bypassing both Trump and Rubio? And has anyone seen any statistics of Caucus-goers abandoning Carson in droves? I haven’t. It defies logic – but then most of what Trump has been doing lately defies logic.

If you happen to be a WWE or UFC fan, the upcoming Saturday night Republican debate in New Hampshire is likely to look familiar. It’s going to be a bloodbath and everyone on the stage will be targeting Cruz because of this. He had better be well prepared with the facts and the timeline of events surrounding this Carson dropping out rumor. He will pay a price if he’s not fully prepared. I have confidence he will be, but it will likely not matter to the other candidates, or the so-called moderators. We’ll just see if they keep a handle on things or stoke the fires of discontent, which is more likely, being that everyone except the voters hate Cruz and would love to take him out. read more

Rethinking My Position On Trump

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The federal government has over 4.3 million full time employees. We’re number 1! Yes, our government is by far the largest non-communist (not yet) employer on the planet. Heck, our Department of Defense alone has a workforce of about 3.2 million, which far outpaces even the gigantic Chinese military which boasts about 2.3 million.

Well that’s great – we need a strong military. Yes we do, until you discover of that 3.2 million, less than 1.4 million are actually uniformed military personnel. The rest are civilian.

Any way you slice it 4.3 million employees is a lot. I’m a huge advocate of cutting the size of government, so even if one was to trim say 25%, 1,075,000 people, off the workforce, that’s a win, in my opinion. But why 25%? How or why did I come up with that figure?

I didn’t. According to a new survey of federal government employees, conducted by the Government Business Council, the research division of the Government Executive Media Group, “about 14 percent of respondents said they would definitely consider leaving federal service under President Trump, while an additional 11 percent said they might.” This adds up to 25%, with 67% saying the still wouldn’t leave and 8% saying they didn’t know. read more

Leftists Capitulate to Other Leftists Over Transgendering

by: the Common Constitutionalist

I guess Americans aren’t taking to the Transgender agenda quite the way leftists had hoped. I guess they thought Bruce Jenner would just trot (or skip) out in a dress, everyone would fawn over him and revel in our collective enlightenment. Some did – most didn’t.

Well, I suppose it’s just not happening as they thought, or at least not as quickly. Americans may tolerate the rather unconventional world of transgenderism, but we just don’t seem to be embracing it the way the left demands.

And because we’re not voluntarily progressive enough, some policies need to be changed to nudge us toward enlightenment.

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Tacoma Washington has quietly changed their locker room policy  in response to a complaint from two members. This particular Y has 140,000 members. So two people complain which results in a massive and sweeping policy change – for two out of 140,000. That seems reasonable. It’s also becoming all too typical, as a tiny segment of society understands that if you make enough noise or threaten a leftist with not being progressive enough, they will fold every time. read more

I Saw You On Facebook – How Come I Wasn’t Invited?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

These days it seems most Americans have a Twitter or Facebook account – usually both. I don’t wish to offend but Twitter is just plain stupid. It’s merely a platform for most to “pop off” about something or someone. On occasion, it has its uses, like a breaking news event, but mostly its just nonsense. And it invariably gets people into a lot of trouble as it has no filter or send-time delay. Something idiotic pops into someone’s head, they type out their 140 characters and send. Within minutes they regret sending it. The only thing more absurd would be to have live Twitter feeds, where it is sent as you type.

Facebook does have its uses. Many, if not most businesses have some form of Facebook presence they find useful for communicating with customers, launching a new product, etc. Others, with personal accounts find it easier to share with family and friends. If one is smart and disciplined, Facebook is a great tool.

Then there are the not so smart and extremely undisciplined Facebook fanatics, who seem to live out their entire lives online. It’s an obsession to a growing number of people – mostly kids and younger adults, to stay in constant contact with their Facebook “friends.” And of course the more “friends” one has the cooler one must be. And everyone must be cool.

Facebook allows anyone to create an almost entirely false online persona – and more often than not that persona is one of 24/7 fun and frivolity. Rarely, if ever does anyone, particularly younger users, share anything but good news and fun on Facebook. When was the last time anyone shared the fact that they were just foreclosed on or lost their job or their health insurance due to Obamacare (had to get that in)? I would venture to say never. Why would they? The cool set doesn’t suffer those real life events. read more
