The People are not Happy about the Obama Library

from the Washington Times:

Obama’s presidential library ripped as ‘ugly waste of taxpayer resources’ by Chicagoans

Chicagoans in droves are venting their displeasure with President Barack Obama’s planned library, calling it an “ugly waste of taxpayer resources” and a “dangerous precedent” for the preservation of historic public parklands.

Recent letters to the editor published in the Chicago Tribune have overwhelmingly panned the Obama Presidential Center, which will take nearly 20 acres from historic Jackson Park and cost taxpayers $100 million in renovations to the surrounding area.

In a letter published on Jan. 26, John Deal of Dolton, Illinois, called the egg-shaped main tower and surrounding buildings “garish monstrosities that ruin the aesthetics of the surrounding parkland stolen from the taxpaying public.”

“Does anyone else think the artist’s rendering of the proposed Obama Presidential Center campus is ugly?” Mr. Deal asked. read more

The Patriot Act – Keeping the Homeland Safe – NOT

By: the Common Constitutionalist

Well, it sure is good president Obama has Mitch McConnell and the Republicans to bail him out or he would have no chance of reauthorizing the Patriot Act.

And here I thought that everything Obama stood for or has done since he first took office has been bad for the country. That’s one of those fun and absolute facts Republicans seem to be ignoring – as if this time will be different. This time Obama is on the right side. Sure.

Establishment Republicans seem to be all for re-authorization, despite the fact it is an affront to privacy, liberty and oh – the Constitution. But I guess to be a real Republican, one must appear strong on defense – in favor of keeping the homeland safe.

And isn’t that what the Patriot Act was designed to do? Wasn’t it passed to thwart terrorist plots before they had a chance to strike America? They tell us this is why all our data must be collected – because you never from where the threat may come.

And I suppose it has worked. All that data collection must have stopped hundreds of terrorist strikes. Otherwise, why collect it. Well, if you’re under that illusion – you’d be 100% wrong. read more

Fewer Illegals Deported

U.S. authorities deported fewer immigrants in fiscal year 2013 than at any  time since President Obama took office, according to secret numbers obtained by  the Center for Immigration  Studies which suggest Mr. Obama’s non-deportation policies have hindered  removals of illegal immigrants.

Just 364,700 immigrants were removed in fiscal year 2013, according to  internal numbers from U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement that CIS released Wednesday — down 11 percent from the nearly 410,000 who were deported  in 2012.

The administration has testified to Congress that it has enough money to deport 400,000 every year, but Jessica  Vaughan, director of policy studies at CIS,  said Mr. Obama and the Homeland  Security Department have placed so many illegal immigrants off-limits for  deportations that they cannot find enough people to fulfill that quota. read more

Life on the Republican Spineless Chicken Ranch

On Oct 8, NBC reported, “President Barack Obama vowed not to relent to what he called Republican “extortion” that would threaten a default on the national debt, but suggested he might accept a short-term agreement that could jump-start talks with Congress.

But the nation’s top elected Republican, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, described Obama’s possible arrangement as akin to “unconditional surrender” to the president by Republicans.

“The president’s position that … we’re not going to sit down and talk to you until you surrender is just not sustainable,” Boehner said on Capitol Hill. “It’s not our system of government.”

Well, evidently it is.

Last night the Washington Times wrote, “Top senators struck a deal Wednesday to reopen the government and extend the federal government’s borrowing authority into next year and both sides of the Capitol are hoping for quick action to reassure nervous financial markets eyeing a Thursday deadline set by the Treasury Department.

“The compromise we reached will provide our economy with the stability it desperately needs,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said after he and his GOP counterpart, Sen. Mitch McConnell, struck the deal.

For Republicans, the deal was more about getting an embarrassing couple of weeks behind them than in being able to claim victory in a deal that they felt compelled to make.

“It’s my hope that today we can put some of those most urgent issues behind us,” Mr. McConnell said. In laying out the deal he struck, Mr. McConnell sought to shift the focus to the next battle already looming over the budget sequesters.

Ted Cruz, doesn’t blame the democrats, but the republicans for not backing his efforts to reign in government.”

The Daily Kos couldn’t wait to reprint Judson Phillips reaction, head of Tea Party Nation. Mr. Phillips wrote, ” Barack Obama demanded unconditional surrender from the Republican Party.

He pretty much got it.

The Republican Party has capitulated on the central issue of Obamacare.  Mitch McConnell and John Boehner never wanted this fight.  In true RINO fashion, they wanted to surrender early and often. ….

In short, the GOP got nothing from their fight.  But then again, McConnell, Boehner and the GOP establishment never tried.

Does anyone believe either McConnell or Boehner will have the intestinal fortitude to go to the mat with Obama again?   It does not matter what Obama demands, these two will cave, guaranteeing it will pass.”

The Marxist at the Daily Kos closed with, ” Mr. Phillips, The Republican party just threw you overboard ass over teakettle. Bye bye.”

And that they did. But is anyone really surprised at the outcome? Frankly, at least for me, it was a foregone conclusion that the two head republican “cavemen” would do what they do best, succumb to pressure. It’s a wonder they can walk upright, without spines.

My guess is that the “pressure” they did get from democrats was all for show. You and I know that swine McConnell and “Dirty” Harry Reid had agreed on a deal early on and this was all just theater.

And as for the Washington Times claiming the fight was an embarrassment; I say for who, the RINO’s. I wasn’t embarrassed. Were you? I guess, according to the Times and the beltway bunch,  it’s embarrassing to fight for a good cause.

And so it’s official. We did lose and the Republican party did throw us overboard, again. Do we finally see where we stand? Finally? Might this really be the last straw for many who have called themselves republicans for so long?

For years, many others and I have insisted there is not a dimes worth of difference between the two parties and have, at times, been vilified for it.

One must be completely blind not to see it now!

As the Daily Kos said, Bye bye Republicans!

Is it Third Party Time yet, or just another night to get a pat on the head, a drink of water and a gentle nudge back to bed, like little Cindy Lou Who? And when we’re all fast asleep again, the Grinches can resume robbing us blind.

‘Islamist Firster’ President not What he Claimed

By Charles Hurt, The Washington Times:

GOLAN HEIGHTS — Surveying the live minefields, cratered roads and mortar-pocked concrete buildings along the border here between Syria and Israel, it is hard not to be reminded of the historic and monumental disappointment President Obama has been.

When he was campaigning to become the most powerful man in the last standing superpower on Earth, he spoke passionately about changing the world, restoring America’s greatness and bringing more peace and fairness to everyone.

In both foreign and domestic matters, Mr. Obama had unique credibility to change things as few presidents ever had.

Despite his background as a liberal street organizer, he campaigned on tax cuts and personal
responsibility and preached that the government simply cannot be the answer to every problem. Republicans would have no choice but to go along with an agenda to shrink the tax burden and get the federal government out of our everyday lives.

Instead, Mr. Obama has devoted his administration to raising taxes, adding to the byzantine structure of the federal government, and has created a whole new massive bureaucracy he claims really will cure our every little boo-boo.

As for the rest of the world, Mr. Obama promised to devote himself to healing the grave injustices and halting the atrocities that have afflicted the world since the rise of radical, violent jihadism. With his Muslim roots, Mr. Obama was positioned better than any leader on the global stage to speak with authority to radical Islamists and finally bring about permanent peace.

Instead, Mr. Obama chose to unilaterally alienate perhaps our most strategically important ally in the world and do all he can to cozy up to the very

people who are dedicated to destroying not only Israel, but America as well.

Leading Democrats have been in the news lately sliming Americans who stick up for Israel as being “Israel Firsters.” Well, Mr. Obama has become an “Islamist Firster.”

Since becoming president, he has not once visited our greatest ally in the region. Rather, he has gone to places like Cairo to tell the Muslim world how much he likes it. He also stunningly trashed the oath of office he took by saying it is “part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”

And, of course, he apologized for the “sexuality” and “mindless violence” from the West permeating the Internet. But Internet porn and creepy videos are little match for virginity tests, stoning women and beheading Jews — all for the fun of it.

When Mr. Obama finally addressed Israel, he shockingly said the tiny country should further retrench so its well-armed enemies can retake high ground from which to fire rockets at Israelis and move closer so they can hit major population centers such as Tel Aviv.

Such a twisted and half-baked view of justice is bad enough in a president. But things are about to get much more terrifying when Iran finally gets its hands on a nuclear warhead, which appears likely to happen in a matter of months.

It will be a very complicated situation because the most powerful man in the last remaining superpower on the planet is an Islamist Firster
