Bernie Continues to Bash the Rich

Politics is the art of currying favor with voters to secure an election. More often than not it is currying favor to secure reelection.

How do politicians’, particularly leftists, best curry favor? They do so by means of give-aways – or at least the promise of give-aways. This is the modern leftist politicians’ job – to makes promises to give voters free stuff. And it’s why so many incumbent politicians get reelected.

Incumbents are already on the inside. A challenger is on the outside looking in. They can only make promises, while the incumbent can remind voters of the free stuff they are already getting – and if they want even more, they should reelect the incumbent. This puts the challenger at a decided disadvantage.

Democrats are masters of the art of the “promised” give-away. But for them and those who actually believe their rhetoric, it is not just about giving away stuff, but promising to take other peoples’ stuff by force of government and giving it to their voters.

The evil rich are their favorite target, and we saw this on display during the Cruz/Sanders tax debate the other night on CNN. All night it was Sanders vs. the rich, with an injection of reality and reason from Ted. read more

Cruz Want’s Trump to Shread the Paris Climate Agreement

from CNN: (Yep – CNN – Go Figure)

OP-Ed from Ted Cruz:

Trump should withdraw from Paris climate pact

Following a successful international tour and the G-7 Summit in Italy, President Trump has an opportunity to relieve our nation of the unfair and economically devastating requirements of the Paris Agreement, the United Nations climate treaty he pledged to rip up during the campaign.

And as soon as possible, President Trump should act on — and keep — his campaign promise.

The agreement, signed by the Obama administration last year, would commit the United States to drastically reducing its carbon emissions while allowing some countries to increase theirs. This, all while doing nothing to meaningfully decrease global temperatures. read more

What Happened to Trump’s Undying Support of Israel

Why is the Trump administration backing off of the President’s rather definitive campaign declaration to move the American Embassy in Israel from Tel-Aviv to its rightful place in Jerusalem?

January 22, 2017

I’m trying my best not to condemn Trump and his people for not doing what he promised (and he did promise), right off of the bat, but I am beginning to wonder and worry on a growing number of campaign promises, just what has changed from campaign to White House.

Now, despite me writing a fair bit about Israel, I don’t have any particular love for, or peculiar fetish regarding the tiny nation. But as most of us are, maybe I’m just a big fan of underdogs.

Every movie ever made about the oppressed, singled-out, or otherwise unnecessarily put-upon underdog, finds those who view, cheering for the little guy.

And it’s always the same story. The underdog is just that. He or she is weaker, slower, smaller, disabled, not as intelligent, etc. – but somehow in the end, finds a way to prevail. It’s the story of David vs. Goliath told over and over again in hundreds of ways.

But not all underdogs are cheered. One in particular evokes the opposite emotional response from many. Of course this is the aforementioned Israel. The only nation hated by more of the Globe than the United States of America. read more

Podcast – My Answers to Some of the Cruz v Sanders Debate Questions

Although I found the Obamacare debate between the Constitutionalist Ted Cruz and the commie Bernie Sanders highly entertaining and informative, I thought there were points that could have been made, but were not.

I share a few of these, presented by me, in my own less than articulate (compared to Cruz) and impolitic way.

After listening, you will agree with me – that I could not get elected dog catcher. read more

Trump Suffers the Indignity of Multiple Accusers – Much the Way Cruz Did

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Recall that this past March saw the National Enquirer print a story that Ted Cruz had five mistresses.

What ever happened to the extramarital affair story? There appears to have been no follow-up. We haven’t heard a peep from the supposed five. The story just vanished. This would lead any reasonable person to think that the story was bogus and his buddy at the Enquirer merely made it up to help advance Trump across the primary finish line.

At the time, few really believed that clean cut, nerdy Cruz had the chops to have even one mistress, let alone five. On the other hand, plenty believed that Trump had at least something to do with the Enquirer story.

For one, Trump and Enquirer chief executive David Pecker are evidently very close. So close in fact that Pecker has used Trump’s private jet to fly from New York to Florida to meet with Trump in the past. And two, that Trump is the polar opposite of Cruz and that he would have no problem playing dirty politics.

This, you might say, was Trump’s October surprise they pulled out to use against Cruz to help seal his fate.

Recalling this, it comes as a bit of a surprise to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the Trump people that the “media” are conspiring with the Clinton campaign to trot out all these supposed victims of Trump abuse after all these years. read more

Podcast – Judge Nixes New Hillary Email Release – Trump Campaign Chair Resigns for Speaking the Truth – Cruz Endorses Trump

A Federal Judge appointed by Barack Obama in 2011 just ruled that some 15,000 new Hillary Clinton emails will not have to be released to the public until well after the November presidential election. How convenient.

A Republican chair for the Trump campaign in Ohio feels the heat when she has the nerve to speak the truth about race strife in today’s America. She paid the price by having to resign her position and apologize for being insensitive.

I discuss my feeling of my man Ted Cruz endorsing The Donald. I’m still not sure how I feel about it but will withhold my opinion and judgment until I him explain himself. Others are a tad more upset with the Texas Senator. read more

If Trump Doesn’t Change His Strategy, He Will Get Killed in November

by: the Common Constitutionalist

By all, or at least most accounts, Donald Trump is sliding in the polls – and not just by a point or two. At this point he is struggling to just stay within a single digit deficit of Hillary Clinton. The man, who, during the primaries, quoted poll numbers on a daily basis, strangely no longer cites them.

This is a stunning achievement by Clinton, who may be the worst candidate since Michael Dukakis. You might say it is an even more stunning achievement by the inept Donald Trump – to be losing so badly to an infinitely flawed candidate like Clinton.

The difference, as I see it, is that Clinton appears to have a campaign strategy and Trump does not. Clinton’s strategy is simple – just don’t say much and more importantly, don’t end up in a forum where others may have an opportunity to ask questions of you. Thus far, her plan, or whoever is in charge of such things, is paying dividends. It’s impossible to make a mistake or say anything stupid when you’re not saying anything at all.

In some cases, and depending on the opponent, this plan would not work. Against Trump it is, so far, working to perfection. Simply allow the leftist media, which is virtually everyone, to stir up a little dust and sit back and watch Trump react to it – knowing his predictable history of overreaction. read more

Outsider Trump has Become an Establishment Insider

by: the Common Constitutionalist

There are some strange goings on over at the Trump campaign. The kind of thing that should give pause to diehard Trumpists. It won’t, but it should. His supporters will just attempt to explain it away or label anyone questioning as mindless drones controlled by “Lyin Ted.”

I’m speaking about Trump’s sudden, seemingly odd love affair with establishment Republicans. By literally ostracizing Ted Cruz, he has also virtually cut himself off from the conservative base – the real conservative base.

Many, me included, proved that the Trump campaign knew well before Cruz’s speech at the convention that Ted would not endorse Donald Trump. Reince Priebus at the RNC knew as well, but instead of attempting to mend fences, Trump and the RNC decided this would be an opportunity to jettison Cruz and a good portion of the true conservative base.

Mark Levin, Glenn Beck and others have reminded us of Jeb Bush’s grand strategy to win the election. Coincidentally, this appears to be a similar strategy, although Trump has at least secured the nomination.

And now Trump appears to be all in with Priebus, the RNC and establishment Republicans. Somehow, this time around it will be a winning formula. It didn’t work for Bob Dole, John McCain or Mitt Romney – and George W. Bush had to pretend to be conservative to win. So did his dad, George H.W. Bush, claiming his presidency would be Reagan’s third term. read more

Fox News Trump Cup Runneth Over With Misinformation

by: the Common Constitutionalist

I’ve heard about all I need to hear from the Trump cabin boys and girls on Fox News. This is why I decided to stay clear of recent political commentary, at least domestically.

But to the victors go the spoils and one of those spoils is the rewriting of history. Yes, those who win the day – those who conquer have the advantage of the “bully pulpit,” and as such are able to wantonly make false claims with very little blowback from the truth-telling minority.

These false claims quickly gain traction with the ill-informed or purposely ignorant until, over time, the false claims become what pass for true historical account.

I’m speaking specifically of the Republican convention, Ted Cruz’s speech, the crowd’s coerced reaction and the obvious and calculated effort by Trump to upstage Cruz. I am also speaking of the pitiful display by Fox News “analysts” in their attempt to crush Cruz and his supporters once and for all.

As an aside: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We Cruz “supporters” are not sycophantic supporters of a man. We are supporters of ideas and ideals. Unlike the Trump rump-swabs, if Cruz betrays these, we’ll run from him as we have done from others. read more

Cruz Still Stands on Principle

from the Resurgent:

Heidi Cruz Had To Be Escorted Out For Her Safety Because of Trump Unity

Donald Trump graciously extended an invitation to his main rival, Ted Cruz, to speak at his  convention. Cruz congratulated Trump for winning the nomination, expounded at length on Republican values, attacked Hillary Clinton, President Obama and the Democrats, and exhorted the crowd to show up in November and vote their conscience.

After the speech, Trump appeared on the stage with Cruz, linked arms with him, with Heidi and Melania, waving to the adoring crowd. read more
