Has Trump Done Some Homework Since The Hewitt Interview?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Remember the radio interview Donald Trump did with Hugh Hewitt?

Hewitt asked: “I’m looking for the next commander-in-chief, to know who Hassan Nasrallah is, and Zawahiri, and al-Julani, and al-Baghdadi. Do you know the players without a scorecard, yet, Donald Trump?”

“No. You know, I’ll tell you honestly, I think by the time we get to office, they’ll all be changed. They’ll be all gone,” Trump said. I thought at the time – hey – at least he’s honest. A slimy politician would have tried to bull crap his way through. It would not have worked on Hewitt.

So when, yesterday morning, I heard one of the Fox and Friends crew ask him what he would do about Russia, Syria and Assad, I didn’t hear what I expected, which was, “I make deals – great deals, and I’ll make a great deal with Putin – or something to that effect.

What he said was both intelligent and the truth, and void of his usual bombast. It appears maybe he did a little homework since the Hewitt interview.

The question was regarded Russia’s bombing in Syria and that Putin was supposed to be bombing ISIS, but it appears they are bombing the rebels – Assad’s enemies – the “moderates” the U.S. is supporting.

He said the U.S. has “no idea” when it comes to the identities of the various rebel groups in Syria. Trump said: “We don’t know who these rebels are. He said one of the generals he spoke to admitted “they don’t even know who they are we’re fighting for.” read more

Two completely Unrelated Al Qaeda Stories

by: the Common Constitutionalist

So it looks like we’re not going to war. Darn it! It was the perfect distraction. No one has been concentrating on the myriad of domestic scandals and who would call for the head of a wartime president?

But his own Secretary of State, Lurch Kerry, foiled Obama.

So what will we do? The next best thing – arm al Qaeda, the terrorists, the rebels. Not that we haven’t been for more than a year now, but who’s counting.

Yet fear not. The administration only plans to arm the rebel factions that have been “vetted”. Feel better now? Me neither. Are those who vet the rebels the same bunch that backed Mohammed Morsi in Egypt?

So (more) shipments of small arms and ammo will be flowing into Syria.

I hope they aren’t those scary “assault weapons”? On the other hand, it might be a good thing and may end the war sooner. How so? Assad’s army will take one look at the rebel’s new weapons and run away. “Look Habib, they have those scary black guns with pistol grips! Run away! Someone call Mayor Bloomberg!”

Some former intelligence officers have confirmed that it’s not just small arms. They will also be provided with antitank weapons, RPG’s, advanced communications equipment, combat med kits and MRE’s.

Again – fear not. There is no chance of al-Nusra or other al-Qaeda terrorists ending up with our weaponry and communications gear to use against us. That will never happen! The administration has assured us.

On a completely unrelated topic, Ayman al-Zawahiri the head cheese of al- Qaeda has announced a plan to attack America. The plan is for small, sustained attacks that will “bleed America economically”.

Not that he would be averse to a “large strike” if the opportunity presents itself. I guess he wants to keep his options open.

Zawahiri, as you recall, was bin Laden’s right-hand man and the brains behind both the 9/11 attacks and the London attack in 2005.

He said: “We should bleed America economically by provoking it to continue in its massive expenditure on its security, for the weak point of America is its economy, which is already begun to stagger due to the military and security expenditure.” Funny – he didn’t mention Obamacare.

Zawahiri spoke glowingly of the Boston Marathon attack and added whether it be “by one brother or a few of the brothers” and “the Boston incident confirms to the Americans… that they are not facing individuals, organizations or groups, but they are facing an uprising Ummah (Muslim community), that rose in jihad to defend its sole, dignity and capabilities.”

He said that attacks “here and there” would keep America in a constant state of tension. You mean like the Israelis that American politicians are always telling to calm down? Like that?

So there you go. Two completely unrelated stories that just happened to coincide with one another. Weird. There is no way any of those American provided arms will ever find their way back here or use to kill our citizens overseas. How dare I even suggest such a thing.

The Syrian Mess

by: the Common Constitutionalist

It’s beginning to look like we’re going to war with Syria. The president said so, repeatedly, in so many words. I heard him when he said the use of chemical weapons is the red line that can’t be crossed. Obama’s Deputy National Security Adviser, Ben Rhodes stated: “The president has been clear that the use of chemical weapons or the transfer of chemical weapons to terrorist groups is a red line for the United States.”

He continued saying that Obama (he said “we” but he means Obama) will make decisions on his/our own timeline but that they will be nice enough to keep Congress and the “international community” in the loop and would consult with them. Wow! Mighty decent of him/them.

So the president is heading out of the country to meet with the G-8 nations. How convenient all this seems, don’t you think? I’m sure this is merely coincidental that Syria after all this time is taking center stage. It appears that the other scandals have been supplanted by this latest news.

It’s like it has stolen most of the media coverage from the IRS, NSA and Benghazi scandals.

And now our leader has to jet off to another country. I guess I have to temper my conspiracy theories lest people get the idea that I think our president is a conniving mob boss. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Speaking of red lines. Haven’t chemical weapons been used at least a few times, according to reports, going back about a month or more ago? So again I ask, why now?

There is another thing I’ve noticed about the apparent use of chemical weapons. We here the red line has been crossed. We’ve heard they’ve been used and I have been listening but haven’t heard our administration say that Assad has used them on his own people, the way we heard Hussein used them on the Kurds. We’ve only heard that they were used.

I’m not saying that this is the case, but terrorist groups like Hezbollah use this tactic all the time against Israel. They fake the aftermath of a rocket attack and blame it on the Israelis to curry favor from gullible dolts like us.

Now it seems we are considering arming the rebels/freedom fighters/terrorists/Al Qaeda. Great plan but have we not already been doing that? Have we forgotten Benghazi? Others and I have contended for months that ambassador Stevens had been running guns from Libya through Turkey into Syria. He and others were killed over it.

So we will continue to arm the people that want to kill Americans. How stupid are we? And we will send advisers, if they are not already there, to coordinate the gangs.

Want more good news? Rumors are that a large U.S. Marine force has been deployed to the Jordanian border with Syria. Will American soldiers actually die for this joke of a cause?

How about some more good news? The Syrian rebel al Nusra leader has already pledged his allegiance to Sheikh Ayman al-Zawahri, the new Al Qaeda leader.

And to top it off, our administration brainiacs are considering bringing thousands upon thousands of Syrian “refugees” to America to settle in our cities. But fear not. There won’t be any terrorists among the refugees, I’m sure. Just keeps getting better, doesn’t it.

As bad as Assad is, and he is bad, if he is toppled, things for the Syrians, the Israelis and us will be much worse.

The whole Syrian situation is a mess and I feel for the innocent citizens of the country. But this is not our fight and we have absolutely no national interest in the outcome. I think, however, the die has been cast and with Russia and maybe China getting involved, it will probably get ugly.

US Teen Accused of Seeking to Join Al-Qaida

An 18-year-old Chicago-area man accused of planning to join an al Qaida-linked group fighting in Syria has been arrested by the FBI, the agency said on Saturday.

Abdella Ahmad Tounisi of Aurora, Illinois, was taken into custody late on Friday as he prepared to board a plane at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport bound for Turkey, the FBI said in a statement.

It added that Tounisi was a friend of Adel Daoud, an American accused of trying to stage a bombing outside a downtown Chicago bar last year. The agency said Tounisi had not been involved in that plot.

Tounisi appeared before a U.S. magistrate on Saturday on one count of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. He was ordered held until his next court appearance on Tuesday, the FBI said.

A criminal complaint accused Tounisi of making online contact in March with a person he thought was a recruiter for Jabhat al-Nusra, the militant Islamist Syrian group that the U.S. government calls a foreign terrorist organization operating as a wing of al- Qaida in Iraq.

The supposed recruiter was an FBI employee working undercover, the agency said.

Tounisi said in emails to the FBI employee that he planned to get to Syria via Turkey and was willing to die in the Syrian struggle, the complaint said.
