Where did Assad get the Chemical Weapons?

Once again, it is demonstrated that hollow diplomacy with no threat of anything behind it is utterly useless and all for show. And also monumentally naïve.

from Glenn Beck:

Obama got rid of all Syria’s chemical weapons, right? Nope.

More than 60 are dead and over 1,000 wounded in yet ANOTHER chemical weapons attack inside Syria.

It’s been exactly one year, to the week, since President Trump retaliated with 59 cruise missiles after the last chemical attack inside Syria. The images of men, women and children lying dead or foaming at the mouth, that reportedly prompted the President to strike last year, were just as gruesome and horrifying over the weekend. read more

The Website, The Nation, has a Message for the Left

Some on the left are concerned about the praise being heaped on President Trump over his single bombing campaign in Syria. No, it’s not the praise from the right, but coming from liberals who, like democrat politicians, normally have nothing constructive to say regarding Trump.

Now ultra-leftist sites like The Nation.com are worried about this new found respect of Trump, even if it is temporary, as demonstrated by an article entitled, “Too Many of Trump’s Liberal Critics Are Praising His Strike on Syria.”

It seems that The Nation feels compelled to remind fellow travelers that Trump is the enemy and you never say anything good about the enemy.

They insist that if one from the left shows favor toward Trump on this single action, they must therefore “account for what comes next.” read more

Can Israel become Energy Independent?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

It’s been reported recently that Israel has made the discovery of a lifetime. They’ve discovered a massive oil field in their Golan Heights territory.

Israel reportedly consumes about 270,000 barrels of oil per day, although other estimates put consumption far lower at around 190,000 barrels. That’s somewhere between 70 and 100 million per year. The Golan discovery is said to possibly be in the billions of barrels. This find alone could make Israel energy independent for decades.

This is the first potentially commercially viable oil source it’s ever had since its founding. Until this discovery, Israeli companies have drilled some 350 exploratory wells – not one has been viable.

To demonstrate just how significant this find may be – the average depth or thickness of layers of underground oil deposits is around 30-35 meters. This find is estimated to be 350 meters thick – 10 times the norm.

What is yet to be determined is whether the oil can be extracted at a reasonable enough price to be viable. And that’s a big if, considering how the price of oil worldwide has cratered in the past several months.

Naturally, as in America and the rest of the West, environmentalist wackos have involved themselves; doing everything they can to halt the progress of discovery.

We here in the States know all too well how the powerful environmental lobby can muck things up for the energy sector, but we have it relatively easy compared to Israel. We don’t have hostile nations on our border to content with – only our own hostile government. read more

The Human Toll of Terror

By: the Common Constitutionalist

Regarding all the terrorism around the world, and particularly in the Middle East, it’s getting increasingly easy to become frustrated to the point of saying, just carpet bomb the whole region and be done with them all. Maybe we haven’t come out and said it, but most of us have at least thought it, Operation_Linebacker_II_bomber_plane_B-52_Stratofortresseven in passing.

It would be an easy thing to do – like in 1972, when President Nixon green lighted Operation Linebacker II. The massive 11 day air attack on the Hanoi area of North Vietnam was prompted by North Vietnamese negotiators walking out of secret talks with National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger. Nixon issued an ultimatum to Hanoi to send its representatives back to the conference table within 72 hours “or else.”

Or else what? Or else he’d do what he said he would. A real “man of his word,” relative to the petulant child currently (sometimes) residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Just ask the Iranians about Obama’s word, or ultimatums.

Well, the North Vietnamese didn’t return, and bombing began just days later. Over just an 11 day period, B-52s and fighter bombers flew 1700 sorties and dropped over 20,000 tons of bombs. This was carpet bombing, using dumb bombs, purposely utilized to inflict damage, pain and suffering. It had the desired effect.

This is not a critique, for or against the Vietnam War. It is just to demonstrate that with the will, it can be done. read more

The Enemy of My Enemy Ain’t My Friend

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Just a few months ago, in May or June, Iran publicly asked the United States for help regarding ISIS. When I first heard this, I couldn’t believe it. Our mortal enemy Iran, asking for our help.

John Xenakis at Breitbart reported at the time that Professor Fawaz Gerges of the London School of Economics said, “One of the most important developments to come out of this particular crisis is the convergence of interests of the United States and Iran. Both powers have vested interests in stopping the ISIS surge. Iraqi is the most pivotal ally of Iran. And the United States fears that ISIS could really present a threat not only to Iraq’s integrity, but for regional stabilities.”

Oh Yea! We now have something in common with the extremist regime in Iran – the same Iran that wishes to destroy the West. My, what a strange bedfellow.

But wait, it gets better. Former British “Head of the Army”, General Lord Richard Dannett said that his country should form an alliance with not only Iran but also Assad’s Syria. read more

ISIS Must Be Exterminated

by: the Common Constitutionalist

So much for the Islamic creed of dealing with a conquered people. It used to be that the conquered had three choices – convert to Islam, pay a hefty tribute and live as a second-class citizen, or die.

Now it seems, at least for the Islamic State, the second option is off the table, which leaves two bad choices – convert or die. Not much of a choice, because conversion means not only Islam as your chosen faith, but radicalized Islam and Sharia law.

But that’s the fate of the Yazidis. When their villages were overrun by ISIS barbarians, those who couldn’t or didn’t escape have been forced to surrender to the Caliphate and presented with the choice of convert or die.

The Islamic State released a video showing hundreds of Yazidi men taking part in a forced “conversion” ceremony.

MailOnline reports that one of the ISIS fighters said: “What has been said is the opposite of reality”, meaning the Yazidis weren’t forced to convert and they haven’t been abused. He (the fighter) claims that, “Men, women and children had converted and I was with them and they are happy with their conversions. We advise the Yazidis to come down from the mountain and convert.”

Yes, I’m sure the Yazidi men are saying to one another, “Wow – this is great. Why didn’t we do this long ago? Wait… where did all our women go? Oh that’s right – they were all taken to serve as concubines for our new benevolent rulers. We’re cool with that.” read more

More From the Peaceful Islamic State

by: the Common Constitutionalist

ISIS, the Islamic State, is on the move – expanding its territory in both Syria and Iraq. Unlike their shadowy predecessors, this new breed of terrorist is actually widely promoting their cause, taking to Twitter and YouTube to spread their propaganda.

Vice News has put together a series of videos cataloging the views, ideology and methods of the Islamic State. It begins with one of the “Warriors of Allah” explaining that “Sharia must be the only law and that it [Sharia] can only be established with weapons”, as he slaps his AK-47.

The Islamic State is not like other terrorist organizations. They really do fancy themselves an actual autonomous kingdom. They even have their own “press officer”, Abu Mosa, who escorted the Vice News crew to different locales within their newly founded kingdom.

In the first of the video series, Abu Mosa has a statement for America. As he fiddles with his weapon Mosa says: “I say to America, that the Islamic Caliphate has been established. And we will not stop. Don’t be cowards and attack us with drones. Instead, send your soldiers, the ones we humiliated in Iraq. We will humiliate them everywhere, God willing, and we will raise the flag of Allah in the White House.” read more

A “Tribute” to Islam

by: the Common Constitutionalist

One of my favorite movies of all time, if not my favorite, is the 10 Commandments, starring Charlton Heston. Not just for the story but also the scope and scale of the movie. It was estimated that if they were to make it today, it would cost $1 billion or more.

Anyway, toward the beginning, the young Egyptian Prince Moses, comes home as a conquering hero. He says to Pharaoh that rather than conquer Ethiopia, he has brought them into the Egyptian empire as an ally. Yet he also proclaims to Pharaoh that there are umpteen treasure barges full of “tribute” from Ethiopia to Pharaoh coming up the Nile.

So in other words the Ethiopians are now, in effect second-class, quasi-Egyptians, forced to pay protection money to Pharaoh.

Protection money? Protection from whom? Why, from being wiped out by their protectors, the Egyptians. Pretty good racket, eh? read more

White House Ineptness is Showing

“U.S. Chides Syria on Missed Chemical Arms Deadlines”, —New York Times, January 30, 2014

Say goodbye to the big stick. Say hello to the big chide.

Five months ago, you will recall, President Obama was preparing to launch military strikes against Bashar al-Assad. The strikes were averted when the Russians, seizing on a gaffe by Secretary of State John Kerry, proposed a deal in which Assad would give up his WMD if the United States did not bomb.

How are things working out? Well, who could have predicted it, but this week we learned that Assad has retained 95 percent of his WMD stockpile while continuing to miss the deadlines to hand over his weapons. More than 125,000 Syrians are dead, millions more are displaced, and al Qaeda affiliates claim jurisdiction over much of the country.

The conflict has drawn thousands of foreign fighters from 50 countries into Syria, foreign fighters who have every intention of bringing the jihad back home when they return to Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States. The Syrian chaos has spilled over into Lebanon and into Iraq, where ethno-sectarian conflict has resumed and al Qaeda has reappeared.

But do not worry. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel is on the case. “The United States is concerned that the Syrian government is behind in delivering these chemical weapons and precursor materials on time, and with the schedule that was agreed to,” he said in a statement from Poland. And if that is not enough to get Assad back on schedule, the State Department made the hilarious claim that the military option remains “on the table.” read more

Delta Force was in Tripoli That Fateful Night

Masked from public view, two of the U.S. military’s elite special operations commandos have been awarded medals for bravery for a mission that further undercuts the Obama administration’s original story about the Benghazi tragedy.

For months, administration officials have claimed no special operations forces were dispatched from outside Libya to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012, al Qaeda terrorist attacks on the U.S. diplomatic mission and CIA annex because none was within range. read more
