Gun Violence Will Be Tops at the State of the Union

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Obama has begun his final year full court press to secure his legacy. He knows the clock is ticking and he must undo as much of the Constitution as possible prior to his exit. I believe one reason he appears to be pushing so hard is that he believes Hillary Clinton, one way or the other, will not win. She will either lose in the general election or her criminal behavior will finally catch up to her – therefore be unable to extend his radical legacy.

Of course one of the major issues for any statist is to begin the process of disarming the citizenry. So Obama has hit the road – giving speeches – using what Teddy Roosevelt called his “Bully Pulpit,” to spread his message of gun control.

As a slight aside, you’ve probably noticed that Obama, the Dems nor the press is promoting “gun safety.” See, the word “safety” carries with it a positive tone. When leftists speak of guns, which are as everyone knows inherently evil, they must take care not to detract from that message of evil with a word like “safety.”

Therefore, for leftists, guns must be forever linked with violence – thus the newly minted and focus group tested Democrat phrase, “Gun Violence.” Watch and listen for it – it’s everywhere. read more

Gun Applications Soar in Maryland

This year, Maryland passed strict gun-control legislation. In response, residents have flooded the state police with applications to purchase weapons, before the new law takes effect. Through August, more than 85,000 residents have made new requests to purchase firearms. This is almost double the amount who sought buy guns in all of 2011.

The Maryland law, pushed through by Democrat Gov. Martin O’Malley and a Democrat legislature, bans 45 types of “assault weapons” and limits ammunition magazines to a maximum of ten rounds.

Misguided Colorado

During Colorado’s 2012-2013 General Assembly legislative session, multiple restrictive gun control measures were passed and signed into law. The legislation package, which was backed by the liberal Bloomberg group Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), is set to take effect on July 1 and includes 15 round limits on magazines, expanded background checks, firearm exchange regulation, and other new red tape implementation.

MAIG has taken the lead in the advance of gun control legislation in Colorado and across the nation, while Mayor Bloomberg has personally donated large sums to organizations that defend embattled Colorado State senators, Giron and Morse.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, MAIG recently went so far as to claim Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the terrorists involved with the Boston Marathon attack, was a victim of gun violence.

Meanwhile, Colorado now faces a variety of negative economic impacts as a result of the legislation supported by MAIG, passed by the Colorado legislature, and signed into law by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper.

Gun Makers Stand Up Against Oppression

I posted this article last Thursday, the 21st. Since then, the list of gun and accessory manufacturers has swelled over 700%.

This story has been updated to add two additional gun makers and sellers to the list of those no longer patronizing law enforcement in states that do not support the Second Amendment.

Oh Happy Day! Finally some businesses willing to stand up to the nanny government. I hope more will sign on to this. If your looking to purchase a weapon or related item, please consider patronizing these brave companies.

Group of Second Amendment-Supporting Gun Makers Now Refusing to Sell Arms to Law Enforcement in New York (And Other Gun-Restricting States)

Since New York State enacted its restrictive new gun laws, many manufacturers have sent that state (and others) a message: If local governments are going to severely restrict the ability of citizens to own guns, then these companies will not be selling to law enforcement in those areas.

Among the gun manufacturers sending that message:

As you read this short article, keep in mind, Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. Translation; Only the criminal can get a gun.

If you are one of the lucky ones to receive a permit to own one, you may not be able to keep the gun you have or buy the one you want. You see, they have also developed a list of firearms, about a mile long, the city has deemed as “unsafe” and cannot be owned, under any condition.

So let’s just celebrate with the citizens of Chicago, their great achievement.

From The UK Daily Mail:

The city of Chicago marked its first 24 hours without a shooting or a murder in almost a year.

Wednesday was the first day-long break without deadly violence since early in 2011 in the city, which is known the world over for its historical ties to Al Capone and Prohibition-era gangsters.

“This is clearly the result of the tremendous police work of the men and women of the Chicago Police Department”, Police Supt. Garry McCarthy announced yesterday, reports NBC Chicago.

Last year, 1,000 more officers were put on the streets of Chicago, which has one of the highest crime rates in America.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy announced the first murder free day in 12 months.

“Since May, the Chicago Police Department has put more officers back into districts working to keep our communities safe. Introduced CompStat, a data-driven approach to fighting crime; and empowered district commanders and given them increased resources to reduce violence in their districts”, McCarthy added.

“While we are making progress, we still have work to do. And will not be satisfied until we significantly decrease the number of murders in every community throughout the city”, McCarthy added.

Last year Chicago saw fewer murders than in 2010 except for the Englewood neighborhood.
Police recorded 419 murders, down from 437 in 2010, reports NBC.
Englewood saw a 40 percent increase with 56 people killed in 2011.
