A Week of Turmoil for the Ages

Well, this week is going to be tough to top – at least as far as political turmoil goes.

In no particular order – White House Chief of Staff, Reince Priebus is canned and replaced with current Homeland Security Chief, John Kelly. GOOD! We conservatives knew from the get-go that Priebus was a ridiculous choice for a president who said he wanted to drain the D.C. swamp. Swamp-rat Priebus came directly from the RNC and has been part of the “moderate” Republican establishment. He was/is an establishment hack and would be better suited as Mitch McConnell’s Chief of Staff.

I’m sure Priebus saw the writing on the wall, that he was not long for this world, when Trump hired Anthony Scaramucci as Communications Director. Priebus claims that he was aware of the situation and had actually resigned the evening before.

Don’t quote me, but I think Scaramooch, Scaramooch, can you do the fandango, was formerly a lieutenant in the New York Mafia. He sure looks and sounds the part.

Speaking of Scaramooch – what kind of Communications Director comports himself the way this guy does? I’ve said before that I no longer swear – haven’t for years. And you know what? I find I can still make a point just as forcefully.  read more

If You’re Going to get Sick – Better do it Before Single Payer

On his radio program  Monday evening, Mark Levin was discussing the ghastly way the Republican Party has treated us regarding the whole healthcare debacle. Mark said, “It’s amazing to me that a man can remain the Majority Leader, McConnell, when the man controlling the Senate, for all intents and purposes, is Chuck Schumer.”

Levin said, “we thought Republicans would repeal ObamaCare – we thought that would be a no-brainer.”

Mark then took some calls. The discussion turned to single payer. One woman told Levin that she thinks Americans don’t really understand what single payer truly is. She said that “Joe-six-pack doesn’t know what it means.” Mark disagreed that “Joe six-pack does know what it means, because Joe six-pack has to deal with it too.”

I rarely disagree with Mark, but I have to this time and side with the female caller, who sounded British.

The public doesn’t understand what single payer truly is. They couldn’t. Just as with many other life experiences, single payer, top to bottom run government healthcare must be experienced first-hand, apparently, in order for many to discover just how bad it is. read more

It may take More than Sound Bites and One-liners to Pass Single Payer

“On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell unveiled yet another revision of the GOP’s fraught repeal-and-replace [R & R] legislation, and the controversial bill will either find the 50 Republican votes it needs to pass the upper chamber of Congress in the next few days — or it will perish once and for all,” Yahoo News wrote.

Despite Yahoo News being about as leftist as a “news site” can be, they in fact are right, perhaps regarding both claims. The latest iteration of R & R bills is fraught, as have been everyone since this current legislature gaveled in. Watching the pathetic spectacle has certainly caused me a great deal of stress and anxiety. Nothing they’ve offered comes close to the clean repeal they promised.

And Yahoo may also be right about this attempt being the last. At least I’m sure the Republican leadership is hoping it will. I agree with many conservatives who think the party isn’t interested in doing anything, and is merely strategizing behind closed doors on exactly who they will place the blame on to deflect from their own spinelessness. read more

British Healthcare Offers a Glimpse into the Future of Obamacare

Obamacare is once again in the news – this time for the massive rate hikes Americans have to look forward to in a few months. The right is decrying the hikes, as the left desperately tries to down-play them or just deflect and change the subject.

Citizens already stretched to their budgetary limits are wondering how on Earth they will ever be able to afford the insurance premiums – some rising well over 50%. I personally fail to see how a family who is struggling to pay their current premiums will ever be able swing even a 15 or 20% increase, much less 50%.

Combine the massive rate hikes with the availability of insurers, which shrink every year, and you have a recipe for mass financial disaster. Can you say a record year for personal bankruptcy? Yeah – I think so. And always remember – Obamacare is just shoddy health insurance. It is NOT healthcare, as everyone on the left consistently and purposely sells it. The left does like their word games.

But as has been said a myriad of times from us on the right – Obamacare is a fiasco by design. It is a premeditated failure. A single-payer, entirely government-run system has always been the end. Obamacare was always intended to be the deceptive means to that end.

As a single-payer healthcare system is the want of the leftist statists, let me site yet another example of what the future holds for many in the good ole U.S. of A. read more

The Obamacare Scheme may be Imploding Ahead of Schedule

IBD wrote  last week that the, “Illinois’ insurance regulator said ObamaCare premiums in the state will jump as high as 55%. The Obama administration’s response to this and other news of massive rate hikes: Don’t worry. Be happy.”

Yes, be happy that this fall Illinois Obamacare premiums will increase by an average of 48% – the Bronze by 44%, the Silver by 45% and the Gold by 55%.

What ever happened to that $2500 savings we were promised? Well, some will save – in fact, make out like bandits. Those being subsidized will see their subsidies increase, allowing plans to be offered for less than $100 per month – for every increase in our premium means an increase in the subsidy.

And if you think Illinois is an outlier, think again. As one state’s losses pile up, other states will follow. Nationwide, insurers and exchanges are recording massive losses, which means the rest of us will be stuck holding the bag with 40-50 percent increases every year to pay for those losses and the subsidized. read more

See We Told You So – Insurers Folding Under the Weight of Obamacare

by: the Common Constitutionalist

This was the plan from the very beginning.

In 2003, at an AFL-CIO (USSR) symposium, Obama said: “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care plan.” He then stated that there is no reason why the richest country to ever exist, “that spends 14% of its GNP on healthcare cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody.”

Most of us remember these sage words from then nobody Obama. But even back then nobody Obama was playing word games, mixing “healthcare” with “health insurance,” as if they are the same. Now that Obamacare has been instituted for a few years, the public is finding out that “health insurance” does not equal “healthcare.”

He then went on to say that “we may not get there immediately.” He told the audience that, “first we gotta take back the White House, we gotta take back the Senate and we gotta take back Congress.” He obviously underestimated how easy it would eventually be to roll over the Republicans.

In 2007 Obama said there would have to be a “transition process,” going from private to single payer. He stated: “I can envision a decade out, or 15 years out or 20 years out. read more

Obamacare Is Saved Again – Next up – Crony Corporatism

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The ruling is in and the debates have begun. It’s a great day for the left. It’s a great day for both parties. Democrats got what they wanted and Republicans now do not have to legislate. It’s a win-win.

But at least some on the right aren’t happy. Judge Andrew Napolitano’s reaction on Fox News  was stunned amazement. “What [Roberts] did was to suggest that plain, ordinary English words, which are not ambiguous in their meaning, somehow to six of the justices in the majority are ambiguous and therefore they can interpret them however they want,” said Napolitano.

“If they had followed the law, this would’ve been a very simple case. The language in the statute was very clear – and if they had interpreted the language the way it was written, the government would have lost,” said Heritage Foundations  Hans von Spakovsky.

Twila Brase of the Citizens Council for Health Freedom said that “Without the rule of law, it becomes the rule of power – all up to interpretation. Claims of intent and outside interpretations of intent will now rule, not the actual words written in the law. When we start allowing the loose interpretation of law based on after-the-fact claims of intent, the foundation of the rule of law crumbles.”

There are many more losers than winners that will come from this decision. Obviously we conservatives, who have been warning of the pitfalls lost. The American people are huge losers as they will see care decline and prices skyrocket. The rule of law lost and certainly the Constitution. We voters also lost, for its apparent that no other branch of government will stand up and challenge the black robed oligarchs. read more

Obamacare “See We Told You So”

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The sign up for Obamacare is going so well it appears that insurance companies will need a bailout. And as bad as the sign up numbers are, the number of “customers” that have actually paid for the program is likely a fraction of the paltry sign up numbers.

The administration either doesn’t know or will not say how many have not just signed up, but actually bought in to the program.

It seems the only “customers” that Obamacare is attracting are the old, sick and dying. Obviously, as many have stated, the president’s program must be flush with younger healthier “customers” in order to be viable. Without those young healthy “customers” to underwrite the unhealthy, the program cannot pay for itself (not that it could anyway) and thus will require a bailout.

But Mitch McConnell said Obamacare would likely sink under its own weight as the realities of the law become more clear.

And there’s the “See We Told You So”! Obamacare will never “collapse” under its own weight as the spineless establishment Republicans said it would. It was never going to. It’s the law, after all. The Republicans knew it and they lied about it to everyone because the leadership are scared little girlie man that can’t or won’t take the fight to the Democrats and our dictator in chief. read more

Dumb and Dumber on Fox News Sunday

by: the Common Constitutionalist

I used to watch Fox news on Sunday morning. Not all the time, but when I did tune into Sunday news, it was always Fox. I thought it was the only chance of getting relatively accurate and unbiased reporting.

However, as many of us become more educated, I at least find it more and more difficult to watch even Fox News.

A case in point was this past Sunday. Chris Wallace had as his guest, Bob Woodward, the fossil of Watergate fame.

Has Woodward done anything of significance since the Nixon era? If so, I don’t recall it. It’s like Al Bundy of the comedy “Married with Children”. His life was one failure after another, yet he still regales everyone he meets with the story of scoring four touchdowns in one high school football game, decades earlier.

Anyway, Wallace was interviewing Woodward about the Obamacare rollout disaster. He asked Woodward if he had seen anything like it, being that Woodward had been around for so long.

Woodward’s answer: “Well, I have to think about what this is. It’s a mess, clearly, but what it isn’t, and I think you have to look at the question of motive. And the president’s motive here, even through their deep problems with implementation, he wants to do something good for 30 million people and get them health insurance. So this isn’t Watergate. This isn’t Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.” read more

Obama: The Lying Liar That Lies

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Yesterday the AP reported that the Obama White House is asking insurance company CEOs to help explain mass cancellations; that the White House Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough urged companies to “ramp up communication and education efforts” to those who have lost their insurance.

Did we not predict this? Did we not predict that Obama would either out and out blame evil “big insurance” or at least co-opt them?

Now granted, the insurance companies are not completely blameless. They were stupid and gullible, but not blameless. They could have spoken out against Obamacare, but they, like so many others, bought Obama’s line of crap.

I’m sure they figured if they kept their collective mouths shut, Obama would reward them with millions of new customers, forced by government decree, to buy their product. Crony capitalism at its finest. read more
