Can’t Beat Santy Claus

(sorry, no time for pictures; just text)

So why did Mitt Romney lose election? Why did Barack Obama win the election?

I’ve been asked that question a lot today, by people in the office, the UPS driver that delivers our packages, some folks at the gym, even customers.

The title of this article sums it up, but not fully.

People like free stuff and most figure that Santa Obama can get them more than Romney the Grinch (before his heart grew three sizes that day).

Taking a look at some of the exit poll data can give us a clue, at least somewhat, of why people voted the way they did.

A solid majority of those who voted for Obama still blame George W. Bush for the economic problems this country faces today. I frankly was stunned at this revelation. How could any thinking person blame someone four years prior for the bad economy today? Exit poll respondents claimed that Obama just didn’t have enough time to turn things around.

If I were an exit pollster, I would have asked a simple follow-up question. That being, “How long, then, should, we give the president?” It would’ve been very informative to discover the response. If four years isn’t long enough, just how much time should he get?

As I recall it was just months after George W. Bush took office that the recession, that actually began in Bill Clinton’s final year, was dubbed the Bush recession. Funny, the double standard.

Exit polls also show the Obama auto bailout to be a success. It evidently carried more weight than did Romney’s overwhelming business experience.

Those polled had the impression that Romney wanted to simply drive the auto companies into bankruptcy and dissolve them. They apparently are unaware that bankruptcy can simply mean reorganization and not necessarily dissolution. They were also apparently unaware that GM did in fact go through a managed bankruptcy anyway.

This idea was especially true in Michigan. I would like to ask those polled, in about five years or so, if they still approve of Obama’s auto bailout, knowing that, according to GM’s own president, General Motors has plans to move most of their manufacturing to China.

Regarding jobs, of those polled six in ten that worried about jobs, favored Obama over Romney. This was quite confusing to me knowing that the president has never created a single private sector job.

9 out of 10 blacks voted for Obama while only 6 out of 10 racists (whites) preferred Romney. That’s a rather monolithic voting block for the president.

The only folks I knew of that received 90% of the vote were those like Hugo Chavez and Saddam Hussein.

Other minority groups also preferred Obama to Romney by wide margins.

According to the exit polls, young single women did vote their body parts, being more concerned with contraception and abortion than anything else.

That’s just sad.

At least a full one-third of voters from the ages of 18 to 29 actually believe socialism is preferable to capitalism. The only way one could have such a preference is having never studied or experienced true socialism. I venture to say; most of the 18 to 29-year-old ideologues are still living in their parents’ basements or forced to move back in, due to lack of employment. One could hardly blame the president for that.

The Heritage Foundation has a saying that may be of great solace to many despondent conservatives. It states, “There are no permanent victories, there are no permanent defeats.”

Another question that was asked of me today, rather frequently, was, what do we do now? Was it Romney’s fault? Was it just a sign of the times, changing demographics?

Well, it was all of these, to some extent. For the most part, Mitt Romney ran a fairly good campaign. At times though, it lacked specificity.

See, it is much easier to be a liberal than a conservative. Liberals have never had to really defend their positions. They don’t think; they just feel.

As a conservative, I find myself constantly having to defend the positions that I take and my beliefs. That causes me to think, research and truly understand why I believe what I believe. It’s a lot more difficult to be a conservative. It’s not enough for me to simply say, for instance, that I will stand up for the poor, or I’m for women’s rights. They sound great until you think about them. What do those statements even mean? The answer is that both of those statements mean absolutely nothing. If, however, a liberal politician was to say that to his or her constituents, that would be enough. No explanation would be required.

A conservative could never get away with such a hollow statement, nor should he.

As I see it, the only way that we can bring this country back from the brink of socialism is by education.

Every conservative, in his or her own little corner of the world must find a way to educate at least some of our youth. I say our youth, because most of the adult population that are dyed in the wool liberal will simply not listen. They will shut you out or shut you up.

We need to begin to reeducate our younger generation in the ways of our founding. We must teach them about the Declaration and Constitution and why this country differs from any other. We need to show them how every other form of government or society mankind has ever devised has been tried and failed time and time again. Most have failed with disastrous consequences. We must show them there are no new ideas, just repackaged old ones.

Although it seems like a daunting task, it can be done. It’s like cleaning out your garage. If you look at the job as a whole, you may never start, but if you begin in one corner and just concentrate on section at a time, before you know it, the whole garage is clean.

I personally am going to concentrate on my son’s and their friends. Maybe it will blossom into something larger, maybe it won’t, but something has to be started.

If anyone has a better idea or other suggestions, please share.

Second Term Blues

by: the Common Constitutionalist

What might America look like during a second Obama term?

Well for starters, gas prices will go up, north of six dollars a gallon in a year or so. Don’t take my word for it. Obama’s energy secretary, Steven Chu, said he would like gas prices between 8 and $10 a gallon.

Electric costs would most likely more than double with more and more coal plants being closed. Further lawsuits by the EPA against fracking would cause natural gas prices to spike.

There would be many less oil leases granted on public land and leases would be revoked. More of America’s lands would be taken by the federal government and placed off-limits to drilling, mining and lumber.

The fairness doctrine, of some sort and extent, would be instituted. Conservative radio hosts will struggle and eventually be forced to abandon broadcast radio, instead switching to Internet radio. Many small-market and local radio stations will go under due to lack of sponsorship and consumers.

Obamacare will be fully implemented driving up medical costs. Many doctors will retire, not wishing the continual fight for payment of services and overbearing regulation. Younger physicians will be told what patients they must see and how much they must accept in payment.

There may be a federal board appointed by the administration, assigned the task of guiding new medical students into the disciplines the board advises. The board will tell medical students what they will study and in which field they will practice. This will be done for the good of the community, so they will say. It will begin as a voluntary program with incentives for new doctors. When that doesn’t work, it will become mandatory.

The US military will be drastically downsized and will install George Soros’s, Center for American Progress, recommendations. Terror attacks overseas will increase. As the bad guys across the globe conclude we are a much weaker nation, they may even decide to attack us here.

China, seeing that we are weakened, may go ahead and declare that it will annex Taiwan.

Taxes will almost immediately increase to the tune of approximately $500 billion. The expiration of the current tax rates (Lets stop calling them the Bush tax cuts. These are the current tax rates folks. These are not the Bush tax cuts. These tax rates have been in place for about a decade), payroll tax increases, as well as the Obamacare tax, increased estate taxes and business taxes.

Layoffs will dramatically increase causing a spike in unemployment although the number will be masked somewhat, for a while, due to the massive increase in federal government hiring.

Amnesty for illegal aliens will be drastically expanded, further driving up unemployment roles and the cost of government assistance.

Some form of Cap and Trade will be instituted further driving up energy costs and burdening businesses.

Ben Bernanke will stay on as Fed chairman. Under his guidance, Obama will be allowed to overspend to his hearts content. Bernanke, through further stimulus plans, will continue to purchase our debt and in return, print money, that is worthless.

Many military functions will be redirected and find themselves under UN control and guidance, thus becoming a UN peacekeeping force rather than the United States military.

Finally there is the rather cryptic statement from Obama directed to Vladimir Putin in Russia. No one is quite sure what Obama meant by his now famous, or infamous statement regarding “more flexibility”.

For this and the proceeding laundry list, I pray we never have to find out what a second term of Barack Obama will look like.

If Barack Obama wins a second term, stock up on two items, guns and food.

If Romney wins, I suggest you have but one item on hand and in good working order; a fire extinguisher, as cities will surely burn.

Vote Romney!

Romney/Ryan

by: the Common Constitutionalist

NBC and MSNBC are truly despicable. They’ve been on the edge of dishonesty for years, but since Obama has been elected, they have fallen over the edge and have fully embraced the dark side.

They’ve lied about the Tea Party repeatedly.

You recall the selectively dishonest editing of George Zimmerman, in the Trayvon Martin case, making him sound like a racist who wanted to kill the black kid.

How about the Romney/WAWA incident from a few months ago. Romney describes his visit to a WAWA convenience store where he touched a couple of keypad buttons, payed the cashier and “there’s your sandwich”. Andrea Mitchell reported purposely as Romney being out of touch with the regular folks and the newsclip was, of course, edited to make it appear that way.

In fact, watching the entire video, which Andrea wouldn’t allow, you’ll plainly see Romney making the comparison between private sector efficiency and innovation and public sector red-tape.

The latest act of reporting malfeasance comes to us again via MSNBC, during Joe Scarborough’s show, “The Morning Joe”. A clip of a Romney/Ryan campaign stop was played which made it appear that the sizable crowd was chanting “Ryan, Ryan, Ryan! The closed captioning added by MSNBC even showed the words Ryan, Ryan, Ryan.

The Morning Joe people then showed an “embarrassed Romney interrupting the chant by saying, ” No, it should be Romney/Ryan, Romney Ryan.” The MSNBC crew was shocked at the juvenile attempt of Mitt to jealously try to inject himself into the chant. Joe and Mika were aghast and their disappointment in Romney was evident from their expressions.

A day later MSNBC’s Martin Bashir simply kept the Mitt-Bashing train rolling. But, why not? After all, Mitt was being overshadowed by his running mate and that apparently didn’t sit well with Romney.

As is more often than not with MSNBC, there’s a problem with this report. They lied again!

You see, if you listen carefully to the video clip, you’ll hear the crowd is not chanting Ryan, Ryan. So what were the chanting?

It seems some attendees to the rally caught wind of the MSNBC report and started calling in to various shows. The eye (and ear) witnesses saw and heard something completely different.

The crowd was actually chanted, “Romney, Romney, Romney” during Ryan’s speech. Evidently Mitt interrupted Ryan to tell the crowd that it should be Romney/Ryan, Romney/Ryan.

On attendee called into the BlazeTv. “The crowd was yelling,” caller Sherry recounts, “the crowd was screaming ‘Romney! Romney!’ and Romney, being the gentleman [he is], we can‘t get in his head because he’s so stinking nice, he stopped us to add ‘Romney-Ryan.’”

“And if you watch the clip again, Ryan throws up his hand like ‘oh, you don’t have to add me to the chant,’” she adds.

Another attendee, Michele Jewett, in an email, wrote, “He (Ryan) introduced Governor Romney and handed the microphone to him. Gov. Romney said, ‘What about that Paul Ryan’ and the crowd immediately started chanting, ‘Romney, Romney‘ not ’Ryan, Ryan’ like the closed captioning on the MSNBC video stated,” she adds.

In fact, what Mitt actually said was, “Let’s try this, Romney/Ryan, Romney/Ryan, I like that better!”

The video in its entirety is so obvious, even the New York Times and Huffington Post had to admit the crowd was chanting Romney, not Ryan.

So what are we to conclude from this? That NBC news has become a campaign arm of the Obama reelection team and will do and say anything to assist?

YEP! Don’t watch them, don’t listen to them, don’t believe a word they say.

Work vs. Redistribution

So Romney is in big trouble for telling the truth regarding the percentage of Americans on some sort of governmemnt assistance. How scandalous.

Yet, in present-day America the following audio is not scandalous.

Take it away Barack:

Oh, well that was a long time ago, 1998. People change you know.

Well then, if Obama has changed, prove it. Show me one time, where and when he has recanted the above audio. You can’t because he is still the same guy he was in ’98 or ’88 for that matter.

Act of War?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The attack on the Libyan and Egyptian embassies are said to be a response to an anti-Muslim YouTube movie titled, “Innocence of Muslims” that derides the leader of the Muslim faith, Mohammed and also the Islam holy book, the Koran. (I’ve seen at least

Mohammed depicted in “Innocence of Muslims”

some of it. It’s pretty funny; not the content, that was spot on, but the cinematography. It’s like one of those old Godzilla movies.)

Anyway, the U.S. ambassador to Lybia that was killed was the same man who was instrumental in the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi , thus clearing the way for the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood . That’s some thanks for a job well done. It’s like 1979 in Iran, but instead of American hostages, there are just corpses. And instead of Carter we have Obama.

Now, no one is ever allowed to make light (or tell the truth) of the Koran, Mohammed, or anything Islam.

Anyone, anywhere is, however, allowed to mock, degrade and subvert the Christian or Jewish faiths with impunity. The United States government is allowed to command the Catholic faith toss out one of the most precious tenets of their faith with forced

Piss Christ and the Jackass who created it

contraception, and most likely, abortions on demand. Yet, these same people would never dare speak ill of the Muslim community, for fear of merely cause the Muslims to feel bad, much less having their heads cut off.

I wonder if the raid by the Brotherhood (and make no mistake, this was the Brothers, or a wholly owned subsidiary of) was caused by viewing the Democrat National Convention? How is that, you say?

At said Convention, the peace-loving leftists joyously and publicly exclaimed that they killed Osama bin Laden no less than 21 times.

Those who attacked were actually shouting “Obama, Obama; there are still a billion Osama’s”. Remember, it was the anniversary of 9-11 on that day. This dopey little movie had very little or nothing to do with it. Obviously, this is just an excuse, for violence against the infidels. It is also my firm belief that this was not just some spontaneous riot. This was a premeditated, coordinated attack.

There is evidence unfolding that the ambassador and staff were told the area of the embassy they were in was not safe and they should be moved to a more secure location. The Brotherhood was then told where the Americans were moved to, affording the opportunity to attack. Another question, that will surely ruffle some feathers is, were the Brothers, in any way, facilitated by those Brotherhood members in the U.S. administration or State Department. It has to be asked!

And how did our, tough on terrorists, government react? Here is the statement issued:

“The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.”

So, instead of taking a hard line agianst the terrorists, we essentially apologize to the them. They have to just be laughing at how pitifully weak we are.

Mitt Romney’s response to the Obama administration statement was a tad more apropos:

“I’m outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”

I believe it is fact that our embassies in every foreign land throughout the globe, are sovereign U.S. territory, just as foreign embassies in this country are not within U.S. jurisdiction. That being the case, is not an attack on our embassy considered an attack on United States soil? Is that not then a defacto, act of war?

Now we have yet another glimpse at our Commander in Chief, who is charged with protecting us. Heck of a job he’s doing, eh.

I almost forgot to mention that Obama is currently funneling taxpayer money to the “rebels” in Syria, who are tools of the Muslim Brotherhood and on the day our diplomatic facilities were being attacked, it was also revealed that the Obama Administration was negotiating a deal with the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood that would give them $1 billion to buy German submarines.

So who’s side is this guy really on anyway?

Romney Bus Explodes!

Just another example of even handed, non-biased reporting. MSNBC’s Martin Bashir reports on the Mitt Romney’s, six state bus tour. As you watch, imagine the same report, substituting Obama for Romney. Think you would ever see such a thing? Me either. Way to go MSDNC.

What’s Ann Been Smokin?

What’s Happened to Ann Coulter?
From Godfather Politics:

On a Sunday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends,” conservative columnist Ann Coulter tried unsuccessfully to explain why Romney got beaten by Newt Gingrich in the South Carolina GOP presidential primary. Here’s what she said:

“Apparently, South Carolinians would rather have the emotional satisfaction of a snotty remark toward the president than to beat Obama in the fall.”

When I first heard this, I thought the article was about Catherine Coulter, the mystery writer.

Ann Coulter is the queen of the “snotty remark.” Her entire career has been built on the quick retort, the turn of a clever phrase, and buckets of snotty remarks. Coulter is the epitome of the put down. She has described herself as a polemicist who likes to “stir up the pot” and does not “pretend to be impartial or balanced, as broadcasters do.”

Consider some of her books: Slander, Treason, and Godless. They are appropriately snotty titles. Maybe Coulter
doesn’t like the competition from a politician who can out-snot her.

Who is Coulter supporting? Romney. You all know the run-down on Romney. This is not to say that Gingrich doesn’t have his own load of excess baggage. What many people like about Gingrich is that he’s not afraid to take on the media.

Something has happened to Coulter in the past year or two. She began to move leftward. Maybe she was trying to broaden her speaking options. She used to get pies in the face by liberal groups. Now she’s invited to speak at their conferences.

For example, she spoke at GOProud’s HOMOCON
2010. This engagement resulted in her removal from World Net Daily’s “Taking America Back” conference. It is unfortunate that Coulter is willing to be a vehicle of legitimacy for a group that certainly goes against the foundation of conservatism.

Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, had this to say about the incident:

“Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about ‘taking America back’ when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very ‘unconservative’ agenda represented by GOProud. The drift of the conservative movement to a brand of materialistic libertarianism is one of the main reasons we planned this conference from the beginning.”

Asked by Farah why she was speaking to GOProud, Coulter said: “They hired me to give a speech, so I’m giving a speech. I do it all the time.”

She went on to say, “I speak to a lot of groups and do not endorse them. I speak at Harvard and I certainly don’t endorse their views. I’ve spoken to Democratic groups and liberal Republican groups that loooove abortion.”

Soon after, Coulter joined the board of the pro-homosexual GOProud. “I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud’s Advisory Council, and look forward to being the queen of fabulous,” Coulter said in a statement.

Coulter can’t be trusted as a reliable conservative voice.
