Video Podcast – Impeach Trump Poll is Garbage – More California Gun Laws

by: Brent Smith

Fox News Poll is Crap

I explain why the Fox News poll that shows 51% of respondents wish to impeach and remove Trump is absolute crap.

Polls can be created to tell practically any story. Most polls these days don’t take the pulse of the American electorate. They are specifically designed to sway public opinion.

And the Latest Fox News Poll does just that – and is complete garbage.

The governor of California signs seven new anti-gun bills into State law

Within these new laws is the slippery slope we on the right have been warning of regarding the Second Amendment.

Start off with the framework – a Red Flag law. After that’s on the book, leftists are free to add-on. And boy do they ever.

With these laws, a whole swath of our population has had its constitutional rights stripped. And scant few are discussing it.

Between anti-gun laws and the impeach Trump cries, we are living a constitutional crisis! read more

Gun Confiscation – The Left has Found a Way to Make it Happen

This is where it all begins. We’ve all been told not to worry about “Red Flag” laws. They won’t be abused. They’ll be safe-guards. They tell us not to fear – that not just any old busy-body will be able trigger a red flag event to have one’s guns confiscated. And being a bigoted moron on social media cannot be one of those triggers. And “We’re from the government – you can trust us.”

RED FLAG Gun Laws: Connecticut Man’s Firearms Seized Because His SON Shared a Meme on Facebook

Due to the recent mass shootings, there is a major push for so-called “red flag” gun laws at both the state and federal levels. These laws are the latest tool for gun control advocates to confiscate guns from people based upon only tips and suspicion. No crime has to be committed to trigger an investigation or confiscation.

Red flag laws violate multiple rights protected by our constitution. The Hill has an excellent article on how red flag laws violate more than the 2nd Amendment, including: read more

Red Flags and Deep Fakes

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

There are currently two things happening in America that could be devastating to our people. Two things, which if used by the correct villainous individual or group, could cripple one’s reputation, ruin one’s life, or much much worse.

One high-tech and one decided low. One can negatively affect a single individual and the other could potentially rock the entire nation and send us spiraling into Civil War.

This is not hyperbole. I am deadly serious.

The two are Red Flag laws and Deep Fake Videos. read more

Don’t Cave on the Constitution

The beginning of the end of the Second Amendment

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

I agree with the President on most things, but I can’t on this.

We’ve been hearing, ad nauseum, that polling suggests that the public supports universal background checks and greater gun restrictions. And we’ve not only been hearing this from democrats, but also from Republicans.

So now I guess we’ve given up on protection and defense of the Constitution and will be governed by the whims of the people and politicians?

It reminds of what the father of the modern progressive movement, president Woodrow Wilson said.  (I hate that guy!) “The Constitution was founded on the law of gravitation. The government was to exist and move by virtue of the efficacy of ‘checks and balances.’ The trouble with the theory is that government is not a machine, but a living thing. No living thing can have its organs offset against each other, as checks, and live.”

This was the beginning of the “living, breathing,” Constitution. That musty old document was fine for its day, but it should not have been built on immovable bedrock. Instead it should be built on sand so that it may move and shift with the changing times.

President Trump and the Republicans have expressed openness to a federal red flag law and for “meaningful” background checks. read more

Please Mr. President – Don’t Support Red Flag Laws

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Please Mr. President – reconsider. Don’t do this. Please stop pushing Red Flag legislation.

Oh, like taxes, or frankly any law that deals directly with the people, they all start out, as does this suggestion from the President, fairly innocuously and backed with the best of intentions – at least outwardly.

But as Will Rogers said: “The difference between death and taxes is death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets.”

And ole Will’s saying doesn’t just apply to taxes. It applies to virtually all laws and all regulations.

Take the income tax … Please! Just kidding.

Seriously, in 1913, the first year of the income tax, the top tax bracket was 7 percent (and that included a six percent surtax) on all income over $500,000 ($11 million in today’s dollars), and the lowest tax bracket was 1 percent.

And of course promises were made by our benevolent government overlords prior to its introduction, that tax rates wouldn’t just be continually raised.

Raise rates? Don’t be silly. We’re the government. You can trust us – right? read more

Has the Left Planted a Red Flag in Your State?

from American Thinker:

Red Flag Laws and Individual Rights

Historically, the synonymous concepts of liberty and freedom were assumed to be the inherent right of every citizen born in our country.  Not so much these days.

In my home state of Colorado recently, the Democrat-controlled legislature signed a ‘red flag’ bill into law.  Joining fourteen other leftist-controlled states, Colorado’s ‘red flag’ law enables the forceful removal of a citizen’s firearms. My state represents another win in the left’s ongoing crusade to separate Americans from their personal liberty.

On the surface, ‘red flag’ laws appear reasonable.  When a person exhibits warning signs they are an extreme danger to themselves and others, the best course of action is to intervene by taking away their arms.  Common sense, the Left argues.  After all, if a court determines a person poses a societal risk, forcibly seizing their firearms reduces that risk.  Right? read more

Video Podcast – Censorship, Gun Control and Red Flag Laws

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

A California man has been banned from Twitter after creating a video of himself shooting an effigy of Parkland student David Hogg for target practice. And he then wonders why Twitter pulled down the video.

Twitter had every right to yank what he calls “performance” art. But no one has the right to confiscate his weapons. He’s not a danger to society – he’s just a dope, looking for his 15 minutes of fame.

Yet this is what these new State Red Flag Laws seek to do. They begin as law for the “good of society,” but in time will further erode our natural right to keep and bear arms, as the State seeks to expand the law beyond its original intent. read more
