The Horror in Iraq

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The city of Mosul fell to ISIS, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, forces after only four days of fighting with Iraqi security.

Question: just how much money did we spend training the Iraqis – how much ordinance did we donate to their cause of “democracy”, only to have it fall into the hands of terrorists?

The ISIS forces, 1300 terrorists, overran the city of Mosul using what was described as “heavy weapons” such as “rocket launchers”, as Iraqi forces threw down their weapons, changed into civilian clothing and fled.

If I may go off topic: where might they have gotten rocket launchers? I’ll put it another way: what was Ambassador Stephens doing in the run-up to his murder in Benghazi? Was he running weapons – like machine guns and rocket launchers? Just asking.

Hillary on Terrorism

What gave rise to Al Qaeda or modern terrorism in general? One could speculate or point fingers at people, certain situations, events or alliances, but at the end of the day, terrorists are almost exclusively individuals who have perverted a religion. Whether it’s the IRA, the Westboro Baptists or Al Qaeda, the founders/leaders of these groups have all decided that this is what God intended – that they are doing God’s work. At least that’s what they profess.

I added the Westboro Baptists because they are psychological terrorists, although as despicable as they may be, to date I don’t think they’ve killed any innocents.

Okay, so that’s how they get started. But what facilitates them, particularly Al Qaeda and radical Islamists?

Well, that one’s easy… Liberals. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s liberals and their unwillingness to recognize and call these groups what they are, radical Islamic terrorists.

When Major Nidal Hasan ran through Fort Hood shouting Allahu Akbar as he slaughtered unarmed soldiers – how again was that clear “Islamic terror” incident classified? Workplace violence! read more

Idols Must be Destroyed

The Great Sphinx and the pyramids of Giza are now the  target of a radical Salafist jihadist leader.

Murgan Salem al-Gohary, 50, an Islamist  leader twice-sentenced under former President Hosni Mubarak for advocating violence, told Egyptian media that the  historical landmarks are ‘idolatrous’ and must be destroyed.

The threats are being taken seriously as ten years ago Gohary helped smash a pair of giant Buddha statues in Afghanistan.

Egyptian newspaper al-Masry al-Youm said Gohary is a jihadist leader with  links to the Taliban, reported the Jerusalem Post.

‘The idols and statutes that fill Egypt must  be destroyed. Muslims are  tasked with applying the teachings of Islam and  removing these idols,  just like we did in Afghanistan when we smashed the  Buddha statues,’  Gohary said in a Saturday night television interview,  according to  al-Masry al-Youm.

His comments came a day after thousands of Islamists gathered in Tahrir Square to call for the strict application of Sharia law in the new constitution.

He is issuing the same call as supreme Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar did in 2001 when he issued an edict against un-Islamic graven images, which means all idolatrous images of  humans and animals.

As a result, the Taliban destroyed all ancient sculptures, using explosives, tanks, and anti-aircraft weapons blew apart a pair of giant Buddhas in Bamiyan Province, 230 kilometers (150 miles) from the capital of Kabul.

‘He was sentenced twice, one of the two sentences being life imprisonment. He subsequently fled Egypt to Afghanistan, where he was badly injured in the American  invasion.

‘In 2007, he traveled from Pakistan to  Syria, which then handed him over to Egypt. After Mubarak’s fall in early 2011, he was released from prison by a judicial ruling,’ the  newspaper added.

The Great Sphinx outside Cairo, which has the  head of a pharaoh and the body of a lion, was built soon after the first pyramid – around 4,500 years ago.

Close to the Sphinx are the three  pyramids of Giza, the largest of which is known as the Great Pyramid and is one of the  Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The pyramids are a source of national income and they bring tourists to Egypt so the Egyptian Interior Ministry source said officials are taking the threats seriously.

According to al-Masry al-Youm, authorities have taken the ‘taken the necessary  precautions to prevent violations of the law or any abuses of  anything in the public domain or archaeological treasures including the  pyramids.’

Egypt’s Coalition to Support Tourism are now worried that his threats will deter tourists from visiting the landmarks.

CST leader Ihab el-Badry told Egyptian  daily  al-Ahram that the group planned to sue President Mohamed Morsi and other government leaders for their ‘lack of response’ to Gohary’s threats.

The country has already suffered a decrease in tourism – last year sombre pictures  showed rows of empty seats at the Light and Sound Show, below the  historic pyramids in Cairo.

Only a year earlier the show had been fully-booked every night.

Dozens of tourists cooed as they watched the landmarks change to shades of purple, green, red and blue among others. Vast beams of light were shot into the air by high-tech  lasers.

Egypt had been on the verge of its own economic revolution, with booming tourism and impressive developments of apartments, offices and flats around the country.

But this revolution went no further. In its place were the scenes of violence and mass protest in Tahrir Square in February which became known as the  ‘Arab Spring’.

In Saudi Arabia the ancient Islamic holy landmarks of Mecca and Medina are under threat.

According to media reports, £690million worth of construction work is beginning on the Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, where the Prophet Mohammed is buried.

Under the proposed plans the site will be developed to include a mosque with a capacity for 1.6 million worshippers.

The house of one of Mohammed’s wives has already been destroyed to make space for public toilets.

The city of Medina, Islam’s second holiest place is under threat as there is now a plan to pull down three 7th-century mosques.

The Washington-based Gulf Institute estimates  that 95 per cent of Mecca’s millennium-old buildings have been demolished in the past two decades alone.

‘Islamist Firster’ President not What he Claimed

By Charles Hurt, The Washington Times:

GOLAN HEIGHTS — Surveying the live minefields, cratered roads and mortar-pocked concrete buildings along the border here between Syria and Israel, it is hard not to be reminded of the historic and monumental disappointment President Obama has been.

When he was campaigning to become the most powerful man in the last standing superpower on Earth, he spoke passionately about changing the world, restoring America’s greatness and bringing more peace and fairness to everyone.

In both foreign and domestic matters, Mr. Obama had unique credibility to change things as few presidents ever had.

Despite his background as a liberal street organizer, he campaigned on tax cuts and personal
responsibility and preached that the government simply cannot be the answer to every problem. Republicans would have no choice but to go along with an agenda to shrink the tax burden and get the federal government out of our everyday lives.

Instead, Mr. Obama has devoted his administration to raising taxes, adding to the byzantine structure of the federal government, and has created a whole new massive bureaucracy he claims really will cure our every little boo-boo.

As for the rest of the world, Mr. Obama promised to devote himself to healing the grave injustices and halting the atrocities that have afflicted the world since the rise of radical, violent jihadism. With his Muslim roots, Mr. Obama was positioned better than any leader on the global stage to speak with authority to radical Islamists and finally bring about permanent peace.

Instead, Mr. Obama chose to unilaterally alienate perhaps our most strategically important ally in the world and do all he can to cozy up to the very

people who are dedicated to destroying not only Israel, but America as well.

Leading Democrats have been in the news lately sliming Americans who stick up for Israel as being “Israel Firsters.” Well, Mr. Obama has become an “Islamist Firster.”

Since becoming president, he has not once visited our greatest ally in the region. Rather, he has gone to places like Cairo to tell the Muslim world how much he likes it. He also stunningly trashed the oath of office he took by saying it is “part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”

And, of course, he apologized for the “sexuality” and “mindless violence” from the West permeating the Internet. But Internet porn and creepy videos are little match for virginity tests, stoning women and beheading Jews — all for the fun of it.

When Mr. Obama finally addressed Israel, he shockingly said the tiny country should further retrench so its well-armed enemies can retake high ground from which to fire rockets at Israelis and move closer so they can hit major population centers such as Tel Aviv.

Such a twisted and half-baked view of justice is bad enough in a president. But things are about to get much more terrifying when Iran finally gets its hands on a nuclear warhead, which appears likely to happen in a matter of months.

It will be a very complicated situation because the most powerful man in the last remaining superpower on the planet is an Islamist Firster
