Liberal Commenter Insists the Left is NOT Out to Destroy Kavanaugh – Part Two

The following is part two of a very lengthy comment someone sent me to a recent World Net Daily article I wrote.

I will not recap part one, although you may review it here.

Once again, my responses to the commenter are indented.

Commenter: Kavanaugh’s conservative views on abortion are not the only reason why the Democrats oppose him. He is an opponent of gay rights and a corporate shill who supports corporate greed over the rights of individual Americans.

Actually I’ve heard Kavanaugh speak of the Bill of Rights – of which he is a supporter. You know the Bill of Rights, which rather nicely delineates the rights of all Americans equally. It is the left who in fact specifies that we need special rights for “special” people or groups.

And yes, he supports corporate greed, as you put it, because he believes, like our silly Founding Fathers, that government should have little authority to regulate business … to death. read more

The Deep State Swamp Must Be Held Accountable

Guest Post from John Velisek, USN (Ret.):

It is now a foregone conclusion that the liberals of the late 50’s have turned their back on America and have become progressive socialists. They have every intention of pushing their fascist tendencies in order to turn our country into a police state which is the culmination of the agenda they have formulated.

Subverting the Constitution has been a major portion of the progressive socialist agenda since the implementation of the tactics of Saul Alinsky and Coward/Piven. Well steeped in this agenda are the likes of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the leftists that now have overtaken the party. The rhetoric they use and the actions they have taken undermine our basic values as a country. Even now, with the sponsorship of globalists like George Soros and funneled through groups like Obama’s Organizing for Action (OFA), they continue to push back against the American people and the agenda of Donald Trump.
With the help of RINO Republicans and Never-Trumpers, they want Americans to follow their orders and not ask any questions. For starters, look to socialists like Kamala Harris and the rest of the happy group that are destroying California.

Using such falsehoods as people losing their healthcare insurance that her fellow radicals demanded to be paid for by those who could least afford it, she uses the straw man that only corporations have benefited from the Trump tax cuts. Never mentioned is the carve-out for unions and corporations that the leftists favor. read more

From The Rooney Rule to the Looney Rule

by: the Common Constitutionalist

In 2003 the National Football League instituted a hiring practice called the Rooney Rule. The rule was named for Dan Rooney, the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and chairman of the NFL diversity committee and a big liberal. The rule mandates that every NFL team interview at least one minority candidate for a head coaching and executive positions. By minority, they actually only mean black applicants.

The reason for this mandate is that about 70% of all NFL players are black whereas virtually all head coaches and G.M.s are white. To Rooney and the diversity committee, this would not do. It was like black players doing their white masters bidding all over again. This new rule was a perfect solution for the guilty white liberal owners.

After its institution, the rule was immediately criticized by activists and academia that it was mere window dressing as it only applied to head coaching positions, not to assistants. At no time has anyone on the committee pondered the merit based system of hiring that has worked for so many years and produced some of sports greatest head coaches. read more

Trump: A ‘man of action’ … to our detriment

Well, I guess the gloves are off, so here we go.

Last week’s GOP debate further convinced me that Donald Trump is a “man of action” and as such will be the embodiment of all out-of-control executives, believing, like Obama, that he has far more authority than the Constitution authorizes. He, like Obama, will follow in the footsteps of our history’s other out-of-control “men of action” like Andrew Jackson, both Roosevelts, Woodrow Wilson, Lyndon Johnson and others. read more

Universal Pre-Kindergarten Isn’t Worth It

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We all know why the federal government has long ago injected itself into the American education system. Big government progressive’s knew they couldn’t control what schools were teaching, and of course progressives must have control over every facet of our lives.

So they began offering carrots to the states in the form of federal funding for schools. Naturally, whenever one takes the bait from the feds, there must be strings attached. However, the states, also run by progressives, had for years been overspending to the point where they didn’t care how big the stick of control was that came with the carrot of all that “free” cash.

The reasoning the states always give for taking the federal largess was and is, “if we don’t take it, someone else will.” And so now the feds control K-12 and beyond – from curriculum to school lunch. All this in an effort to indoctrinate children into a progressive, socialistic lifestyle. It has never had anything to do with “educating” anyone.

But evidently kindergarten is simply too late to start the indoctrination process. The feds need a true cradle to career (in government) program. And so came the cries from the left for universal day care and pre-K.

And why not – parents don’t know how to raise children. They don’t have the academic early education degrees to rear their own children. That’s just silly! read more

I Really Wish I Could Support Trump

by: the Common Constitutionalist

I really want to like Donald Trump. I really wish I could support The Donald, but if you’ve read anything I’ve written about him you’ll understand I just can’t – but I want to.

Right now he is saying what every conservative is thinking. We on the right have been craving a candidate who will take it to the left – no backing down – no compromise. And Trump is filling the bill – like Newt Gingrich on steroids.

Many would say – yeah well – it’s all an act. He knows his audience and he’s playing right to them – telling them what they want to hear. While I agree that he is a showman and he is playing to the audience, this is no act.

What we see is who he is. He’s rich and he’s powerful and he relishes any opportunity to say so. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s about time we heard from someone who is not ashamed of their wealth, especially because he earned it.

The fact is I do on some level, really enjoy Trump. I’ve heard he is a nice guy, but he’s also an arrogant loud mouth. Yet you can’t help but smile when he’s verbally beating down the left. We can’t help but react with a, “Yeah – go get um!” And really, there’s nothing wrong with that, to a point. read more

The Popular Progressive Populism of The Donald

by: the Common Constitutionalist

A couple of days ago Donald Trump appeared on Mark Levin’s radio program. Frankly I was surprised Trump agreed, considering in 2011 Mediaite  reported that Mark said the following about Trump: “Levin was on fire as he provided a series of arguments to discredit nearly every perceived benefit of a Trump candidacy. Suggesting Trump’s proposal for a tariff on goods from China is as horrible of an idea as many of Trump’s other past positions, Levin said even if ‘all your supporters are going to give you a pass on every damn thing you’ve ever said or done’ Levin will not be along for the ride. And in his final parting shot, since Trump repeatedly argues his success as a businessman would make him a great President, Levin humorously concludes, ‘if I follow your logic, Bill Gates ought to be President of the United States because he’s worth ten times what you are too, and yet when it comes to economics and government he’s an airhead just like you.’”

But Mark was more than kind and allowed Trump to speak his mind, even paying him a compliment saying that he got a call from his father who said, “I like this guy. He says what he needs to say. He’s standing up for America.”

Mark was discussing with The Donald just why his message appears to be resonating. Mark said, “number one you’re not a Washington guy, number two, you’re a successful businessman and number three, you’re talking up America.” Trump responded by saying that it’s because people are sick and tired of our stupid representatives. “They’re giving away our jobs, they’re giving away our money, they’re giving away our manufacturing, they’re giving away everything – we get nothing.”

And then Trump uttered his all-too-familiar refrain that China and Mexico are kicking our butts. He cited the case of a Ford plant being built in Mexico for $2.5 billion, to make trucks and cars and parts and ship them right back to the United States. “We get nothing,” he says. “We get no jobs, we get no tax, we get nothing.” read more

It’s Not All Obama’s Fault

By: the Common Constitutionalist

A Couple of days ago Rush Limbaugh took a call from a gentleman who asked “if a constitutional government is the best form of government, and the constitutional government has allowed us to go so far away from the Constitution, would there have been a better way to have gone?”

Rush’s answer was: “The Founding Fathers knew human nature. The people who put together this Constitution understood that it was only a matter of time before power-thirsty and -hungry despots would try to take this country over and turn it into the average, ordinary tyranny that every other country in the world has been or will be.”

And he’s absolutely right about the founders. They were brilliant men who did fully understand human nature. He went on to explain to the caller why we left England and eventually wished to gain our independence from a tyrannical King and government.

Rush then leaped forward to present day, explaining how Congress has willfully given their authority over to Obama – that it’s both the democrats and republicans who have relinquished their Constitutional power of the purse, among other things.

Now, I’ll grant you that Obama and his entire administration may well be the end of the road for an originalist Constitutional Republic, but he is merely the culmination of almost two centuries of work by progressives. He surely didn’t start the process – he just may be the man to end it.

America has actually been suffering from a terminal progressive disease for about 189 years. read more

Does Judge Want More Terrorism?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Leftist U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ordered the U.S. military to release photographs of detainees being abused from at least seven different sites in Afghanistan and Iraq.

His ruling on Friday gives the government two months to decide whether to appeal before the photos could be released. Naturally, it was the ACLU who brought the case before the court, demanding government transparency and accountability.

Hellerstein

Hellerstein

It is believed that there may be anywhere between a few dozen to thousands of such photographs.

Not that I’m necessarily against the release of the photos – I must admit I really don’t care one way or the other, but that aside, I have two questions. Why release them – to what end? And exactly who is this judge and what could be his real motivation for the ruling?

First the Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein. He is a senior judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He received his law degree from Columbia Law School. Who else went to Columbia? Oh that’s right – our esteemed president. Just saying, as a fun factoid.

Hellerstein was personally recommended to progressive President Bill Clinton by the late liberal democrat Daniel Patrick Moynihan. One of Moynihan’s more famous or infamous progressive quips was: “The central liberal truth is that politics can change a culture and save it from itself.” Ah – the progressive mantra. I guess so can the judiciary, but to the left, it’s really all the same. read more

This is Progress

By: The Common Constitutionalist

If you are a regular reader (even if you’re not), you may have seen me use the the word “Progressive” (in political terms) as a synonym for liberal, which it is.

In fact, during the early Twentieth century, as the term “Progressive” developed a negative connotation, they simply changed it to liberal. We now see, with a negative reaction to the term “Liberal”, they are reverting back to progressive. Neat trick. Interestingly, the founders considered themselves “Classical Liberals”.

After speaking to few people, I realize I have never really explained “progressive” properly – what it means & why political progressives think the way they do.

To do this I thought it might be instructive to go back and look at one of the founders of the American progressive movement, president Woodrow Wilson, using excerpts from one of his more famous speeches, What is Progress?“.

In his speech Wilson said, “We think of the future, not the past, as the more glorious time in comparison with which the present is nothing. Progress, development-those are modern words. The modern idea is to leave the past and press onward to something new.”

So far, progress sounds great, or does it? Does progress really mean to leave the past, forget the past, and press on to something new and no doubt glorious?

One could argue, unsuccessfully, that this is not what he meant. In his speech, he will reveal, this is indeed what he meant.

Wilson continues, “What attitude shall progressives take toward the existing order, toward those institutions of conservatism, the Constitution, the laws, and the courts?… Are those thoughtful men who fear that we are now about to disturb the ancient foundations of our institutions justified in their fear?”

You’re darn right they were justified in their fear!

You will notice how Wilson is trying to separate himself and progressives from the founders by describing the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence as old dusty, ancient foundations, as if they were crafted on stone tablets thousands of years ago. read more
