Yes, Democracies Die, but Republicanism Lives On

The leftist website Vox.com posted an article yesterday entitled, “How democracies die, explained.” Of course it has to do with the president, but they add that, “The problems in American democracy run far deeper than Trump.” Well bully for them. Dilly Dilly!

Now right off the bat, we should notice a glaring error. It may stem from calculation or ignorance. In case you missed it, America is not a democracy. However those of leftist persuasion often refer to the United States as one. We are of course a representative republic.

To the ignorant, those who have not been taught the difference, this is understandable. Being ignorant is simply lacking knowledge. No matter how well educated one is, he or she will always be ignorant of something. There are no exceptions. Okay one. God knows everything.

However, knowing the difference and deliberately misleading the ignorant is a different story. This, for want of better term, is malicious. read more

Conservatives Must Separate Trump the President from Trump the Man

I have a disagreement with some conservatives. However, I choose not to name names due to my respect for them on so many other issues.

My disagreement is regarding the Trump presidency vs. Trump the man.

There is a story out there. Most of us have heard at least some of it – that Trump had paid off an adult film star, possibly with campaign funds, for an alleged affair Trump had in 2006. The payoff was meant to make his involvement with her go away. In other words – hush money.

Trump is accused of breaking two campaign finance laws by not reporting $130,000 of hush money paid to Stephanie Clifford, aka, Stormy Daniels – the aforementioned adult film star. One complaint was filed with The Federal Election Commission (FEC) and the other with the Justice Department.

No doubt Jeff Sessions will feel the need to recuse himself again and the left will demand another independent council. I don’t know this, but I won’t be surprised if it happens. read more

Illegal Alien Transports are Still Happening

Where would we be without groups like Judicial Watch (JW)?

We’d be living in nation filled with ignorant people – more ignorant than we currently are. We’d be living in a country that we thought was free, and open, and transparent, but in fact is not. We’d be living in the Soviet Union, minus the communism, jack boots and food lines.

Regardless of who resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., the Swamp just keeps on doing what they do.

One of President Trump’s major campaign issues was to solve the illegal immigration problem once and for all. And for his part, he’s been doing an admirable job. But he can’t do it all himself, and Judicial Watch has learned that he isn’t get much help from the Swamp.

Just yesterday, it was reported that, “Immigrants entering the United States illegally through the southern border are quietly being relocated to different parts of the country on commercial flights, high-ranking Homeland Security officials told Judicial Watch.” read more

Video Podcast – Trump’s ‘S’hole Remark

Transcript:

I first want to start off with an observation made years ago by one Glenn Beck, long before Trump ever considered running for President. Those who don’t care for Beck, just stay with me. This is not about him.

He was talking about what the polished, buttoned up phony Obama was and frankly still is. He was aloof, seemingly unflappable, great speech maker, always mindful of his words. Glenn said that we must be careful in our next choice for president because otherwise it’s likely to be the polar opposite. Both in terms of policy and also in demeanor.

Glenn predicted that the next president might be a “gravy stain” president. You know, the guys that spills gravy down the front of his shirt and then doesn’t seem to care. He’s not polished or buttoned up. He’s more blue collar and acts and speaks that way.

It wasn’t a hard prediction. After all, if you trust the pendulum theory, that the pendulum tends always to swing wildly from one side to the other. It never seems to go from hard left to center and vice versa. read more

Conservatives Need to Remain Consistent On Unemployment

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

For a decade or so, we conservatives had been like the town criers. Every time new employment numbers emerged we would cry out that despite what we all see, read and hear from the left wing media, all was not well. Throughout the entirety of the Obama reign, virtually everyone right of center – yes, even those establishment Republicans, would rightly claim that Obama’s unemployment figures were bogus.

And they were. Despite all other dreadful economic indicators, save for the phony Wall Street numbers, the unemployment rate continued to drop throughout Obama’s time. We on the right knew these numbers did not tell the true story, as the government was using the “official” unemployment calculator known as U-3.

This, as many know, does not give an accurate picture of real unemployment in this country. For years we have insisted that the more accurate U-6 data be used, as it takes into account not only short term unemployed, but also long-termed unemployed, discouraged workers who have just given up, and the underemployed, who wish to work full time yet can only find part time employment. This is the number conservatives insisted be reflected during the Obama years.

But then something odd happened after President Trump took office. read more

We’ll be Drowning in Oil!

from Zero Hedge:

Trump Announces Massive Expansion In Offshore Drilling; Environmentalists Outraged

In December 2017, during the twilight days of the previous administration, as one of Barack Obama’s last executive actions the former president formally blocked offshore oil and gas drilling in most of the Atlantic and Arctic Ocean, responding to a call from environmentalists who say the government needs to do more to prevent drilling in environmentally sensitive areas of U.S.-controlled oceans.

The move was not surprising: Obama had been expected to take the action by invoking a provision in a 1953 law that governs Outer Continental Shelf offshore leases, and he did just that to block drilling in federal waters in the Arctic’s Chukchi Sea and most of its Beaufort Sea. He also protected 21 underwater canyons in the Atlantic Ocean from drilling. read more

Israel Capital Finally Recognized

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday in a televised address from the White House that the United States officially recognizes the city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and will begin moving its embassy there.

“I have determined that it is time to official recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” President Trump said. “While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering.”

He later added: “Today, we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.” read more

Trump May be Becoming the President We Conservatives Wanted

Not Yet – But Maybe Soon!

Despite his constant tweeting, his loud and brash exterior, is President Trump slowly becoming the President we wanted all along? He just may be.

Sure, he may never be the strict Constitutionalist that I have been pining for oh these many years. I don’t reckon another Calvin Coolidge will be rising to prominence any time soon, if ever again.

But the decisions Trump makes without having to include Congress have been impressive. His campaign platform was replete with conservative ideas. Tax cuts were his idea. He chose supreme Court justice Neil Gorsuch. Deportation of illegals was his idea, as was the construction of an actual border wall – not just lame picket fence, or a hollow promise. Unlike Congress, he actual does want to repeal ObamaCare.

Renegotiation of trade deals to be more beneficial to America is his idea. Backing out of the Paris Climate hoax was all him. Dealing more harshly with Iran and North Korea – him. Vetting of refugees, etc. The list grows larger seemingly every day. And they are all good ideas that get lost in the tone and tenor of his presentation. That, and the constant yapping of the “purse dogs” in the press.

And now he has just done something that should impress even the hardest-core federalist. read more

Video Podcast – How to Pay for Infrastructure

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Today I discuss the nation’s infrastructure that is apparently in need of a serious upgrade – at least according to the current administration.

The question is how we pay for the new massive public works program. Well, some have floated the idea of increasing the gas tax by seven cents a gallon.

I explain why this is a bad idea, as is the reasoning behind it and whether we even should. read more

Two RINOs Down – Don’t Let the Door Hit You

Conservatives should be encouraged by events of the last month or so. So far two RINO Republican Senators have announced that they will not seek reelection in 2018.

Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, who sports a solid ‘F’ Liberty Score, announced on September 26 that he is packing it in.

For those unfamiliar, the Conservative Review “Liberty Score” is a letter grade, ranging from A to F, signifying a legislators’ conservative voting record. A is a Constitutionalist, ala Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, and F is a RINO, ala too many Republicans to name.

Despite what Corker said when he first won his Senate seat – that he couldn’t imagine serving more than two terms – I believe he wouldn’t have considered retirement should Hillary have won.

As we witnessed over the last several years, it’s much easier to fake being a real Republican when a democrat is in the White House. How many ObamaCare repeal bills were passed through both Houses? It’s virtually effortless to look conservative when you know Obama will just veto every measure. read more
