New Poll on Race

I found this article on a British website. Just for fun, I decided to Google the poll and see how far down I had to search before I found a mainstream media outlet report on it. I went through 5 whole pages and never found one! Gee, I wonder why? If the poll found the opposite to be true it would be on the front page of the New York Times.

A new survey has found that more Americans see black people as racist than white people or even Hispanics.

Thirty seven percent of American adults  spoken to by respected pollsters Rasmussen think that African American citizens  hold racist views, as opposed to just 15 percent of white  Americans.

Indeed, even the black adults the survey  spoke to, 31 percent said they considered people of their own race to be racist  while only 24-percent thought that white people were bigoted.

Racial Attitudes: A new survey has found surprisingly forthright opinions exist across the country about race relations

From an ideological point of view, almost 50  percent of conservative Americans think that blacks are racist as opposed to  only 12 percent of white people.

Interestingly, the 21 percent of liberal  voters who see black people as racist is almost as high as the 27 percent who  see white people as racist.

We Love Comprehensive Immigration Reform

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We’ve heard the arguments by both Republican and Democrat alike regarding immigration. We must have comprehensive reform, nothing less will suffice.

There was even a new national survey conducted recently to tell us so. The survey was conducted by the Winston group, and commissioned by “Americans for Tax Reform (ATR)”.Ahhh… ATR… The Grover Norquist group. Grover Norquist; friend of the Muslim brotherhood. Love that guy!

The survey found that 85% of Republicans either “strongly support” or “somewhat support” the requirement that “illegal immigrants in the U.S. register for legal status, pay fines, learn English, pay taxes and wait in the back of the line to apply for citizenship, until every person who is currently in line to legally enter the U.S. gets in.”

Well, if that’s true, we have more low information citizens than I thought.

The main problem with these polls is they don’t give people enough time to think about what they are being asked and they lump too much information into one question.

I’ve always supported the back of the line bit and learning English. However, most of the illegals aren’t sneaking in with a job waiting for them. So how would they pay the fine? Almost none of the illegals would make enough to even pay taxes, so if they file a return they would end up getting money back due to earned income, child credits, etc. So it would be another net loss for our country.

Yet many Republican lawmakers still support “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”.

As an aside, whenever you see or hear the word comprehensive, it’s code for –  we’re hiding a bunch of crap in here we don’t want you to find.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R – Iowa) said on April 19: “given the events of this week, it’s important for us to understand the gaps and loopholes in our immigration system.” Gaps and loopholes? If we actually followed current immigration law, there would be no gaps or loopholes. The gaps and loopholes are created by not following the law.

Our old buddy Sen. John McCain said a new computer that tracks visa and passport information would actually keep better care of who is entering and leaving our country. Surprisingly, I agree with Johnny, but it has nothing to do with sealing the border and legalizing the gazillion illegals. And a new computer and fancy technology is only as good as the as those operating it. Garbage in – garbage out.

Then there’s Lindsey Graham (Gramnesty) who chimed in with his usual pearls of wisdom: “You’ll never convince me leaving them in the shadows, some who may be here for terrorist purposes, is smart national security” Graham said: “We can’t shut America off… I think what we are doing is going to make situations like Boston less likely to happen.”

He went on to explain that having 11 million people hiding in the shadows in America is less safe than bringing them out and registering them as registered aliens and eventual citizens.

And there is the new buzz phrase, “hiding in the shadows”. No doubt it was focus group tested.

They are not hiding in the shadows. They’re right out in the open. They even have rallies in American cities. There aren’t enough shadows to hide 22 million illegals. What… 22 million? I thought Sen. Graham said it was 11 million.

Well, as with anything the government is involved in, feel comfortable in at least doubling whatever figure they toss out and you’ll be in the ballpark.

So the “Gang of Eight” trotted out its 844-page monstrosity entitled “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013 (S. 744).

I have a better idea. Courtesy of Mark Levin; here is the official true conservative illegal immigration bill:

Pay Taxes…Be Happy

Study: People Who Pay More Taxes Are Happier

by:  at Political Outcast

There’s a German study that was published that will likely find its way to  U.S. Democrats and some Republicans. It claims to have found that people who pay  more taxes are happier than those who pay less.

The research spanned 26 years, during which time 25,000 Germans were asked  the question, “How satisfied are you with your life, all things considered?” The  demographics tied to each respondent’s answer were things such as income, age,  education and other variables. The research concluded that those who paid higher  taxes reported “higher levels of happiness.” The Wall Street Journal explored  reasons for such a phenomenon:

“One reason could be that people enjoy the public  goods and services made possible by taxes. For example, German households who  regularly attended cultural events such as concerts and plays, which are at  least partially publicly funded in Germany, were happier to pay taxes than ‘inactive’ households. Other possible factors include a sense that  redistributing wealth is necessary, altruism, and a measure of ‘tax morale,’ the  sense that there is a ‘moral obligation to pay taxes and if you don’t do it, you  might feel bad about it,’ co-author Sebastian Siegloch, a Ph.D. candidate at the  University of Cologne, said in an interview Wednesday.”

I can think of another possible reason. What’s that old saying? Ignorance is  bliss. If this study is truly representative of what people think in Germany,  that wealth redistribution is necessary, and paying more in taxes makes them  feel “altruistic,” that tells me they don’t know what they’re doing. They’re  happy living in socialism. Ignorant, but happy.

But, there’s something else. I think this “study” is completely stupid. I  imagine if these same panel of experts asked me how satisfied I was with my  life, all things considered, I would tell them “very satisfied.” Their question  doesn’t address whether or not I’m ok with our tax system. It just asks if I’m  happy. They’re two totally different things.

I can honestly say that I’m happier now than I was 4 years ago, and that’s in spite of Obama and in spite of taxes. There are many factors  affecting our level of “happiness,” and there are other sources of happiness. I  have a wife and kids and family and friends. I’m grateful knowing that I have a  place to live and can work a couple jobs. But that hardly means I’m ok with  wealth redistribution. It doesn’t mean that I think it’s selfless of me to allow  the government to take from me what it deems my “fair share.” I have no choice  in the matter.

There’s another facet here. Many in America are on some kind of  welfare:  government housing, government healthcare, food stamps, straight  welfare or all of the above. Many of them pay little or no taxes. I would guess  if they were posited the same question about being satisfied with their lives,  they would respond that they’re not satisfied.

Consider the worst case scenario:  living in a government house, getting  food stamps to buy smokes and liquor, receiving welfare checks every month, not  working, not paying taxes. If I were in that situation, I would completely  miserable, and I wouldn’t be paying any taxes. Then this “study” would confirm  that those that paid little or no taxes were not happy with their lives,  suggesting that the converse was also true.

The study is stupid, but I wouldn’t be surprised if politicians and media  started referring to it to justify more socialism.

Comment by the Common Constitutionalist:I agree that is the most ridiculous study I’ve seen in quite some time and so obviously political. Phillip is absolutely correct in his assessment of the study; it means nothing and the conclusion was reached before the study began, no doubt.

I have developed my own new happiness study. It would consist of 2 simple questions and be remarkably accurate.

Question 1: Are you generally happy? Most would answer in the affirmative.

Question 2: Have you ever seen a penquin, either in person, a photograph, or other representation thereof? Most would also answer yes.

Conclusion: People who have seen a penguin are generally happy.

Oh Yeah, Believe the Polls

from: The Drudge Report and the Common Constitutionalist

New polling data out from Pew Research Center finds President Obama with a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney nationally:

Currently, 51% say they support Obama or lean toward him, while 41% support or lean toward Romney. This is largely unchanged from earlier in July and consistent with polling over the course of this year. Across eight Pew Research Center surveys since January, Obama has led Romney by between four and 12 percentage points.

Obama holds only a four-point edge (48% to 44%) across 12 of this year’s key battleground states. While the data does not allow a state-by-state analysis, the overall balance of support in these closely contested states has remained level in recent months, with Obama slightly ahead, but neither candidate holding a significant advantage.

The poll also finds that Romney’s favorability has taken a hit this summer:

By a 52% to 37% margin, more voters say they have an unfavorable than favorable view of Mitt Romney. The poll, conducted prior to Romney’s recent overseas trip, represents the sixth consecutive survey over the past nine months in which his image has been in negative territory. While Romney’s personal favorability improved substantially between March and June – as Republican voters rallied behind him after the primary season ended– his image has again slipped over the past month.

Barack Obama’s image remains, by comparison, more positive – 50% offer a favorable assessment of the president, 45% an unfavorable one. Even so, Obama’s personal ratings are lower than most presidential candidates in recent elections.

Now for the punchline. As is the case with virtually all polls produced by leftist organizations like Pew, the results are horribly skewed toward the democrat. Republican sample size: 459, Democrat sample size: 813. Close to a 2 to 1 ratio. That sounds fair. One must read the fine print.

My advise, don’t read or listen to the polls. Most are crap.

The People Fear Obama

From: USNews.com:

Source: The Synovate eNation Internet poll was conducted December 29-January 2 among a national sample of 1,000 households by global market research firm Synovate.

[Editorial Comment: As you read the poll results, keep this in mind. Anyone who knows polling, understands that results of “Households” or “Americans” or “Adults”, are always drastically skewed to the left. It is not until you get results from equal numbers of “Very Likely Voters” that things are portrayed more equitably. If the results of a general poll are this bad, you can bet the house, they are really a lot worse.]

When it comes to how Americans view President Obama going into the new year, there appears to be very little spirit of Auld Lang Syne. Instead, according to the new Washington Whispers poll, many voters aren’t forgetting what they dislike about Obama and want him out of office.

In our New Year’s poll, when asked what news event they fear most about 2012, Americans by a margin of two-to-one said Obama’s reelection. Only 16 percent said they fear the Democrat won’t win a second term, while 33 percent said they fear four more years.

Next to Obama’s reelection, 31 percent of Americans said they feared higher taxes, which may be proof that the president’s focus on the payroll tax cut has hit pay dirt.

The poll, however, held out some hope for Obama. Some 38 percent of younger Americans, 18-24, said their biggest fear was higher taxes. Just 28 percent of those same voters said they feared Obama winning in November.

But in results backed up by other polls, older Americans and those earning $75,000 or more are especially worried about the president getting a second term, according to the poll done by Synovate eNation.

Nearly half of Americans 65 and older said Obama’s reelection was their top fear, 39 percent of those making $75,000 or more agreed.

As we enter the presidential election year of 2012, what potential news event do you fear the most?

President Obama wins reelection 33%

Taxes will increase 31%

Iran will get a nuclear weapon 16%

Obama will lose reelection 16%

North Korea will attack South Korea 4%
