Given that Joe Biden, and by Joe I mean his handlers, is supposed to be unveiling his “package of executive actions to curb gun violence” today, I thought I would reissue an article I posted a while ago regarding a real-world way to curb gun violence.

For as we know, the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy (or girl) with a gun.

Maine Joins the Constitutional Club

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Maine has become only the seventh state in the union to allow its citizens to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. Well good for them. My state, New Hampshire was supposed to be the seventh, but we elected a Democrat governor, so of course she vetoed the measure passed by both State Houses.

Maine, like New Hampshire allows legal gun owners to open carry without a permit, which regular readers know is what I do.

Breitbart reported that while pushing the bill it’s author, State Sen. Eric Brakey “continually focused on how open carry without a permit was legal in Maine, but if someone put on a jacket that covered their gun, they were then required to have a permit.”

I’ve been arguing this ridiculous rule for years, having to stay ever vigilant that my sidearm isn’t covered at any time. Frankly, it’s ridiculous.

So now, at least in Maine, Wyoming, Alaska, Kansas, Montana, Vermont and Arizona, citizens can concealed carry a weapon for self-defense without first having to grovel before the government for something the Constitution grants them naturally. read more

Open Carry Idiocy

A potentially lethal weapon should not be synonymous with jewelry. One does not carry a weapon as a fashion statement.

Regular readers know that I, the Common Constitutionalist, “packs heat”, as a friend from the gym says. He’s former Marine force recon, so I let the slang go.

Readers also know I prefer open carry to concealed for reasons explained here.

In short, I open carry to make a statement. No, not a fashion statement, nor some highfalutin Constitutional reason as one might expect. I open carry for one reason. It’s a sign, a banner to any would-be attacker: “leave me the *%$# alone. That’s it. It’s no more complicated than that.

Being that I open carry, one would naturally conclude that I would be all for the group “Open Carry Texas” bringing their weapons into restaurants such as Chili’s, Chipotle and Sonic, which they did.

To that I would say – WRONGO! read more
