Is Ted Cruz Sure Fire in November?

Well, let’s hope so!

from RedState:

Stop Trying To Make Beto Happen; Ted Cruz Will Trounce Him And Here’s Why

Beto O’Rourke is different than most politicians in Washington DC. It may sound mean, but most of the elected people walking the halls of the U.S. Capitol look as though they fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down — with very few exceptions. O’Rourke, a 45-year-old representative from El Paso Texas, has boyish good looks that seem out of place in Washington. He’s the kind of politician that would look comfortable on the cover of Time as well as Vanity Fair.  read more

Democrat Gun Control Push May Backfire

from HotAir:

Dems Worry: Are We Overplaying The Gun-Control Hand?

Once again, the answer is obvious. Once again, the question probably comes too late — both for Democrats and for any kind of bipartisan effort to fix the real problems exposed in a mass shooting. Only after a week of demonizing law-abiding gun owners around the country and the NRA as child-killers for a crime to which they had no connection, Democrats have begun to worry that they may have gone too far, according to The Hill:

The party is galvanized behind the idea that Congress should take action on gun control, but faces warnings from some Democrats that reaching too far could drive away voters in the swing districts they’ll need to retake the Speaker’s gavel. read more

Dems May Regret not Voting for Tax Cuts

from IBD:

GOP Tax Cuts Are Turning Out To Be A Disaster … For Democrats

Not long ago, Democrats expected that the GOP tax cuts would be a political disaster for Republicans, just like ObamaCare was for Democrats in 2010. How’s that prediction working out?

Writing in the Atlantic in December, longtime political reporter Ron Brownstein argued that “President Trump and congressional Republicans have just taken the same leap of faith that Democrats did when they passed the Affordable Care Act.”

He went on to note that after Democrats passed ObamaCare in early 2010 — despite strong public opposition — the backlash from voters “helped propel Republicans to the biggest midterm gain in the House for either party since 1938 and gave them a majority in the chamber they still haven’t relinquished.” read more

Democrats are Using Our Youth

The democrat anti-gun parade (figuratively and literally) is well under way. And this time they’re leaving no stone unturned. They’ve enlisted the help of children. Although it’s more like the democrats have gotten these young skulls full of mush (h/t Rush) hooked on anti-gun crack and are now pimping them out to the main-stream leftist media.

Yet they want us to believe that it was the children who organized all these anti-gun rallies, marches and protests, rented the upscale busses, etc., all by themselves. Sure they did. The children certainly have not been coached and brainwashed to come out and argue against guns and our constitutionally protected rights – and they are definitely NOT being exploited for leftist political gain.

And by the way, lest someone mistake my claims for being heartless – I’m not making light of this latest tragedy. It is a tragedy – a senseless one. It’s the left’s choreographed response that bothers me – how they can get children to do their bidding, and no one seems to have a problem with it.

But what the children who have bought this gun control load of crap don’t comprehend is that the lying dems don’t want to actually do anything. How can I say such a think? We’ve all heard the heart-tugging speeches and interviews. The dems are serious this time! read more

WND Exclusive – Reality Will Trump Perception as Paychecks Grow

On Nov. 29, the prognosticator website FiveThirtyEight announced that, “The GOP Tax Cuts Are Even

More Unpopular Than Past Tax Hikes.”

“Poll after poll shows that more voters than not are opposed to their efforts,” wrote the website. They claimed that only about a third of voters support the tax cut plan, and that, “the GOP bill is one of the least popular tax plans since Ronald Reagan’s day.”

Well, at least Trump and the Republicans are in good company. You may (or may not) recall the left’s visceral hatred of Reagan. His tax cut and economic plan was also to be the end of the world, but actually gave us the longest period of sustained growth during peacetime and the second-longest period of sustained growth in U.S. history.

Maybe FiveThirtyEight should instead do a little research on how often the Democrats are wrong about pretty much everything. read more

For Krugman – Up Is Down – Right Is Wrong

by: the Common Constitutionalist

This is the world, according to Paul Krugman, as he shares with us his genius in his latest New York Times column, “Triumph of the Wrong“.

Anyone who knows of Krugman can guess from the title and its proximity to the elections that he is referring to the Republican drubbing of the Democrats last Tuesday. Oh – and that he’s not fond of the result.

He begins his learned piece with this gem: “… of another Republican Party sweep, politics determines who has the power, not who has the truth. Still, it’s not often that a party that is so wrong about so much does as well as Republicans did on Tuesday.”

I actually agree with this statement, save for replacing the “Republicans” with “Obama and his policies”.

He continues by saying: “So now is a good time to remember just how wrong the new rulers of Congress have been about, well, everything.” read more

China Says – No He Can’t

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Obama will be making his first post election international trip next week. Reports are that his travels include a stop in China, Myanmar (Burma) and Australia. Apparently he is headed over to discuss policy between the United States and the Asia Pacific region.

He will be focusing on the world economy of which China will soon become the leader.

Okay, that’s nothing out of the ordinary – President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping – two of the world’s most powerful leaders getting together.

What is out of the ordinary is an editorial, just published in the Global Times. For those unfamiliar, the Global Times is the mouthpiece, or propaganda arm of the Communist Chinese government. In other words, nothing gets printed or released by the Times without the approval of Xi Jinping and his Politburo. read more

Jokes On Us – With a Republican Victory

Two days ago The Hill reported that Senator Jeff Session of Alabama said: “The Obama administration has announced that after the elections it would issue an executive order allowing nearly 5 million immigrants to remain in the United States on worker visas — many have U.S. children.”

“These orders, planned for after the election, would implement by executive fiat the sweeping amnesty that was rejected by the Republican House,” Sessions wrote. “If the president’s promised executive amnesty goes through, we will functionally have open borders in America. But the citizens of this country, through their vote, have the power to stop it.”

Sessions said if Republicans control the Senate next year, they would vote to stop Obama’s executive actions…

It was a pre-election plea to get out the vote for senate republican candidates.

As I explained in my article from yesterday, “No More Compromise for This Conservative”, I would no longer vote for a Mitch McConnell, establishment rubber stamp like Scott Brown, and I didn’t. If he wins, so be it. If he loses, my conscience is still clear. read more

No More Compromise for This Conservative

by: the Common Constitutionalist

For the first time I had to switch off the Rush Limbaugh radio show. I can’t recall ever having to do that, and I’ve been listening since George H.W. Bush was president. He was positively schizophrenic.

The topic was a Politico article regarding a potential Republican victory and the impact of the establishment Republicans on the party. The piece by Alexander Burns begins with him stating: “For the Republican Party’s leadership, taking control of the U.S. Senate might not even be the sweetest part of a victory in 2014.”

And what could be sweeter than that? What could be sweeter than ousting Harry Reid? Well, blowing up the conservatives in the party. He quoted GOP Senate Whip John Cornyn: “Where we ran into problems was that small sliver of the party insisted on nominating people who could win the primary but couldn’t win the general,” Cornyn said of the past two election cycles. Of the party’s successful 2014 course correction, Cornyn said: “I promise you it’s a lesson we will not forget.”

In other words, conservative Republicans need not apply. We don’t want you to run. What they do want is for us to just vote for these hacks, then sit down, shut up and let them govern. read more

Latino Ingrate or Shrewd El Politico

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Perusing the inter-web, I found an article that intrigued me. The man who wrote it, or the editor, or someone entitled it properly, causing me to click on it and read.

The article is, “Latinos Should Withhold Support From Democrats“, posted by Arturo Carmona at Real Clear Politics. Mr. Carmona is executive director of Presidente Action.

Well, it turns out, this post wasn’t “Real Clear” at all. I was going in expecting to read about “Latinos” seeing the light and voting conservative, or at least Republican, and although it kind of reads that way, I’ll guarantee that’s not his motivation.

Mr. Carmona is angry because Obama and the Democrats haven’t done enough for them, and by them, of course I mean the millions of criminal aliens.

Yes, Mr. Carmona claims that Obama has betrayed him and his lawbreaking “people”. He writes: “For months, president Obama promised that he – and the rest of the nation – were done with Republican obstructionism on immigration reform. On March 14, he indicated he would instruct Homeland Security secretary Jeh Johnson to produce recommendations for executive actions to bring relief to millions of immigrant families suffering in the shadows.”

Republican obstructionism? Really? So now, in 2014, current immigration law is considered obstructionism. And there are no recommendations to make. What Johnson suggests or suggested and whatever Obama does will be both illegal and anticonstitutional. But to Obama, it’s only illegal if you can stop them. read more
