Prisoners of the world unite! Yes, inmates in as many as 40 prisons in 24 states, last Friday began a nationwide (well – kind of) strike. The Union (yes – Union) Organizing Committee stated they are striking to end prison slavery. They are sick and tired of being degraded, dehumanized and exploited. Well, I have a few choice words for the prisoners union.
Freedom of speech is well and truly dead on American college and university campuses as freshman are told what they can and cannot say and what they can and cannot ask of other students. One oppressive and racist example is describing America as the “Land of Opportunity.” I’m not real happy about this either. read more

On college campuses, it’s evidently a “microaggression” to call yourself an American.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult not to offend the poor little snot-nosed whiners who call themselves college students. Almost everything is an affront to their fragile sensibilities. What ever happened to Universities challenging convention and the ability and freedom on campus for free expression?
Unfortunately things have come full circle where there is no free thought or expression and the convention is hyper-sensitivity.
Now, I may be out of touch with current politically correct vernacular, but isn’t the term “Queer” considered derogatory to homosexuals? I thought it was, yet at the University of Virginia (UVA) there is a student organization which calls itself the “Queer Student Union” (QSU). Huh.
They describe themselves thusly: “The Queer Student Union at the University of Virginia is Charlottesville’s oldest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning individuals. As such, we strive to provide a safe, welcoming, and confidential environment for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and queer individuals in the community. We also organize services, activities, and social programs for the student population at UVA, with an emphasis on queer culture and social thought. As the largest LGBTQ group on Grounds, we work to represent and advocate LGBTQ students’ concerns to the University’s administration, alumni/ae, and the local government.” read more
Today I discuss Hillary Clinton’s grand economic vision for the country as she reveals her platform on Monday. Oh it is as good (or bad) as one can imagine. Is the world staring down the barrel of the next mini Ice Age? Scientists have discovered, through new studies of solar activity, we’re less than a decade away. Bring on the warming! And the student government at Johns Hopkins University wants to kick Chick-fil-A off campus. read more

I hope for my kids’ sake we never encounter the strife that many others and I have been predicting is coming in this country. I guess I should qualify that statement by saying I should exempt my children (hopefully) and probably yours. They should be able to handle most anything short of a complete societal meltdown.
Whom I’m really speaking of are the kids in their late teens through their 20s who believe their lives are somehow more difficult and trying than any generation preceding them. Sure, every generation has thought that, but it seems this generation is the most fragile yet.
So fraught with psychological trauma that laws need to be enacted as a buffer against the realities of life – as feel-good anti-bullying laws are supposed to do.
There are many examples of young adults being brought up so sheltered, so coddled, that they are literally offended by everything that used to be just part of growing up.
No longer are adults allowed to say “Just suck it up,” or “get over it – it’s not the end of the world.”
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any more ridiculous, a new term pops up. The word is “microaggression.” What the heck is microaggression? Well, I didn’t know either so I looked it up. read more
