On college campuses, it’s evidently a “microaggression” to call yourself an American.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult not to offend the poor little snot-nosed whiners who call themselves college students. Almost everything is an affront to their fragile sensibilities. What ever happened to Universities challenging convention and the ability and freedom on campus for free expression?
Unfortunately things have come full circle where there is no free thought or expression and the convention is hyper-sensitivity.
Now, I may be out of touch with current politically correct vernacular, but isn’t the term “Queer” considered derogatory to homosexuals? I thought it was, yet at the University of Virginia (UVA) there is a student organization which calls itself the “Queer Student Union” (QSU). Huh.
They describe themselves thusly: “The Queer Student Union at the University of Virginia is Charlottesville’s oldest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning individuals. As such, we strive to provide a safe, welcoming, and confidential environment for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and queer individuals in the community. We also organize services, activities, and social programs for the student population at UVA, with an emphasis on queer culture and social thought. As the largest LGBTQ group on Grounds, we work to represent and advocate LGBTQ students’ concerns to the University’s administration, alumni/ae, and the local government.” read more
