Progressive Hollywood Isn’t Progressive Enough

By: the Common Constitutionalist

When one wishes to take the pulse of the real radical left, you need to know where to look. Oh, I don’t mean just liberals like CNN or the Washington Post. I’m talking about radicals who think liberals aren’t liberal enough. For news on that front, you need to go to sites like MoveOn.org, ThinkProgress or the ACLU.

That being said – who doesn’t think Hollywood is progressive enough? Well, evidently the radicals at the ACLU (yes, I know that’s redundant) don’t believe progressive Hollywood is progressive enough.

Normally I would never side with the ACLU on anything. They are awful and a wholly un-American organization. But I do so enjoy when smug leftists in Hollywood get caught by other leftists not practicing what they preach.

For decades cloistered Hollywood has been on the cutting edge of every new “civil right” and liberal cause to come down the pike. But recently even it has come under fire.

We all remember the big flap over the lack of black representation at the last Academy Awards and the fight for equal pay for actresses, headlined by Jennifer Lawrence who only grossed $52 million in 2015. Poor girl.

If that’s not bad enough, “last summer, the ACLU asked federal and state agencies to explore whether gender discrimination is responsible for the dearth of female directors in the entertainment industry.” The federal investigation will be headed up by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. read more

Millennials Do Have it Harder

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We hear it all the time from young people and it’s been repeated with each generation: It’s much harder today than it was for their parents. Of course invariably this turns out to be crap. Every generation has its challenges, but this time it may actually be worse.

Many are suffering in the stagnant Obama economy and it seems to be getting worse – not better. Those who have come of age during Obama’s reign of economic terror seem to suffering mightily.

It’s been well documented that millennials exiting college have little prospects and mountains of debt. Not a happy combination. And those who have either chosen not to attend college or simply can’t are suffering further.

For many the deck is becoming increasingly stacked against them. Beyond just the country’s overall economic anemia, there is the now gaining in popularity, “Fight for 15” – the arbitrarily chosen new “civil right” – the demand for everyone to make a minimum of $15/hr.

The “Fight for 15,” seems to picking up steam in state after state, particularly the more liberal ones who tend to have many of the largest concentrations of young minorities. These young minorities are beginning to find out what $15/hr. really means – even less opportunity for employment. No employer in the right mind will hire a young person with little to no experience nor demonstrative worth if they have a chance to instead hire an out of work 30 something. read more

Genderless Bathrooms – It’s the Agenda Stupid

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Our country has fallen head first into the crapper when people from the left and right can’t see the problem with letting transgendered men and women use whatever bathroom, locker room and shower they wish.

What the heck is wrong with us? There seems to be so very few left with the combination of courage and conviction. Instead it’s been replaced with cowardice and expedience. And ditto regarding common sense.

Let’s first set the record straight on one thing. A transgendered man is still physically, anatomically a man and vice versa for a woman. The dictionary definition of transgender is: “noting or relating to a person whose gender identity does not correspond to that person’s biological sex assigned at birth.”

But this is not how we think of the transgendered. More likely when the average person hears the term transgender, they automatically think of someone who was once a man and is now a woman and vice versa. Obviously, according to the definition, this is not correct. read more

The Progressive Agenda Is Ruining Our Children

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Kids get suspended from school all the time. Even the good ones find it happening to them from time to time. My son – a great student and a fine young man (if I do say), received an in-school suspension last year for sticking up for a friend. It happens.

There are many reasons for a child to be suspended. Most have to do with repeated bad behavior. However, more recently the amount of suspensions has been on the rise. And the age of those being suspended has gone from mostly unruly teenagers in high school, to middle school, to elementary.

The majority of these behavior problems are directly attributable to bad parenting – or simply a lack of parenting. And frankly this is, or should be, expected. Over the years the federal government through the Department of Education has been pushing parents to virtually relinquish all duties and responsibilities of raising their own children. The so-called educational experts have been spouting their progressive nonsense for decades, that they know far better than we how to properly raise our children. Was it not Hillary Clinton who wrote a book that “It Takes a Village,” to raise a child. read more

Podcast – Enough Already With Celebrating Transgenderism – Tesla Goes Mainstream With an Affordable Electric Car

In this episode I discuss the nonsense that is the Transgender movement and how we all must not only accept but celebrate the bravery of men who think they are women and vice versa. If you don’t join in the celebration or simply use societal common sense, you, your city or state will be looked upon as heretics and punished.

In segment two I discuss Elon Musk’s latest addition to the Tesla line of electric cars – the Model 3. It’s an affordable Tesla and unlike so many other electrics, doesn’t look like a shoe box on wheels. However, this may be a problem for some who view ownership of an electric as a save-the-planet status symbol. read more
