Universal Pre-Kindergarten Isn’t Worth It

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We all know why the federal government has long ago injected itself into the American education system. Big government progressive’s knew they couldn’t control what schools were teaching, and of course progressives must have control over every facet of our lives.

So they began offering carrots to the states in the form of federal funding for schools. Naturally, whenever one takes the bait from the feds, there must be strings attached. However, the states, also run by progressives, had for years been overspending to the point where they didn’t care how big the stick of control was that came with the carrot of all that “free” cash.

The reasoning the states always give for taking the federal largess was and is, “if we don’t take it, someone else will.” And so now the feds control K-12 and beyond – from curriculum to school lunch. All this in an effort to indoctrinate children into a progressive, socialistic lifestyle. It has never had anything to do with “educating” anyone.

But evidently kindergarten is simply too late to start the indoctrination process. The feds need a true cradle to career (in government) program. And so came the cries from the left for universal day care and pre-K.

And why not – parents don’t know how to raise children. They don’t have the academic early education degrees to rear their own children. That’s just silly! read more

Obamacare – The Perfect Crime

History is replete with flimflam men, and women. America has had its fair share. The most famous must be Carlo Pietro Giovanni Guglielmo Tebaldo Ponzi, better known as Charles Ponzi.

More recently names like Bernie Madoff and Robert Allen Stanford have become the modern day face of the scam. Madoff ripped off investors to the tune of $65 billion in what many have described as the largest financial fraud in U.S. history. For this he was sentenced to 150 years in the slammer.

Stanford ripped off over 28,000 investors for about $7 billion and was sentenced to 110 years behind bars.

Of Madoff and Stanford, Robert Lenzner at Forbes.com wrote that “Clearly, the SEC should have had the smarts and the will to put Madoff and Stanford out of business before they were able to do so much harm.” read more

Democrats Lie – They’re Too Arrogant Not To

by: the Common Constitutionalist

It seems that Susan Ferrechio of the Washington Examiner has found a few choice quotes from Democrats, namely Bella Pelosi (I vant to suck your wallet) as the title of her article on Saturday would suggest: “Dems: Gruber wrote computer code, not Obamacare.”

Is that right. Well, he sure does have a lot to say and sure seems to have plenty of detailed strategic information for some guy tucked away somewhere pecking at a keyboard. That, or a very active imagination. Maybe he’s the inadvertent Edward Snowden of Obamacare, or maybe he’s a typical egotistical arrogant liberal who, like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, et al, think they can say anything and not be held to account, even when they’re caught on audio or video. “Are you going to believe me, or your lying eyes?”

Nonetheless, Susan writes that House Democrats contend that Jonathan Gruber was merely a computer code expert who was factually wrong in the assertions he made, regarding Obamacare.

By now most of us have heard that he was merely a computer “modeler, who wrote 15,000 lines of computer code.” And for this, writes Ferrechio, he “banked more than $1 million from the federal government and states by helping design and implement the Affordable Care Act.” Where do I sign up for that gig?

Susan reports that although Pelosi insists that he played no role in writing Obamacare, Gruber evidently visited the White House eight times. Now why in the world would anyone in the White House invite a mere computer programmer to meet with them just once, let alone eight times? Answer: they wouldn’t. read more

We Need a Republican Presidential Fantasy League

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The hot topic of the day usually attracts the commentary of Rush Limbaugh. Yesterday was no different when he spoke of a short video released showing Jonathan Gruber, leftist economics professor at MIT, commenting on the passage of Obamacare, saying: “This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies, okay? So it’s written to do that. In terms of risk-rating subsidies, if you had a law which said healthy people are gonna pay… if you made it explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed, okay? Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, you know, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever. But basically that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass.”

Before I continue, it can’t possibly be a mystery how our “best and brightest”, emerging from elite schools like MIT, are so screwed up. Look at who is teaching them. This guy is an economics professor? Is the head of the department Paul Krugman?

Okay, back to it. It seemed as if Gruber was proud of how they pulled it off – as if he admired the administration for their mastery of deceit. Well, he should be proud of the deceit – he was part of it. read more
