WND Exclusive – Should We Ban Dems from Speaking on 2nd Amendment?

from Brent Smith for World Net Daily:

California representative Eric Swalwell is the latest empty suit to enter the presidential sweepstakes on the democrat side.

He evidently intends to make gun control – or rather, gun confiscation – his Numero Uno campaign agenda issue.

Last year Swalwell wrote: “An assault weapon, then, is a hand-held weapon of war, capable of spraying a crowd with more lethal fire in seconds. We should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons. The ban would not apply to law enforcement agencies or shooting clubs.” read more

Without the Second Amendment, We Would be New Zealand

This is just one more demonstration of the sheer genius of our Founders. They understood human nature as few have. And thank God for George Mason, Elbridge Gerry and the anti-Federalists, who insisted that a Bill of Rights be added to our Constitution, for without it, we would be in the same predicament as are law-abiding New Zealand gun owners.

from Conservative Review:

New Zealand’s knee-jerk gun ban is EXACTLY why we have the Second Amendment

Thank goodness we have the Second Amendment. I say that a lot, but I’m especially grateful after seeing the latest news out of New Zealand.

Less than a week after the mosque shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand has moved to ban and confiscate semi-automatic long guns. read more

Groundswell for Gun Confiscation Starts Here

from The Blaze:

‘I now actually do want to take your guns. All of your guns. Right now,’ magazine editor declares

Esquire’s editor-at-large penned a letter of sorts to the National Rifle Association and blasted the organization in the wake of the Santa Fe High School massacre in Texas.

In his Friday piece for the magazine, Dave Holmes accused the NRA of having “bought our government” and convincing its “members that the occasional school shooting, the odd literal slaughter of innocents, is an unfortunate but inevitable quirk of American life, a thing that is necessary to preserve freedom.” read more

All Emotion and No Reason in the Gun Control Argument

from the Daily Bell:

4 Complaints About Gun Owners Debunked

When tragedy strikes it is understandable that people get emotional. But they often forget that the media knows how to pull the heartstrings for nefarious reasons. If a media campaign looks coordinated, it probably is. We should never let the emotions they trigger override our logic, and threaten our safety.

And we shouldn’t let whole groups be punished for the crimes of individuals. Nothing that one person does can justify assaulting or stealing from an entirely different individual. That type of thinking is what leads to violence and prejudice against whole races, religions, and nationalities.

Here are four common knee-jerk reactions gun owners get, and the data to respond.

Will the Texas Shooting Advance the Confiscation Narrative

Garbage in – garbage out. We see it all the time. It certainly isn’t the machines fault. You can’t blame the computer. In other words – it’s like the old saying, that the equipment is only as good as its operator.

We found this out the hard way on Sunday as Devin Patrick Kelley went on his killing rampage at the Sutherland Springs Baptist Church.

It was discovered that Kelley should not have been able to purchase the firearms he used due to a felony domestic assault charge on his wife and her child while serving in the Air Force.

For years leftists have been screaming about background checks. These heinous shootings could be prevented if only we had “common sense” background checks.

However, until this last act, not a single background check of any kind would have prevented any of the mass-shootings. But this one was different. As it turns out a background check may have been able to prevent the Texas murders, or at least made it more difficult for the whack-job Kelley to obtain his weapons.

But as I stated, a background check, like a piece of equipment, is only as good as its operator. In this case the operator was the United States Air Force, and the job was simply to add Kelley’s felony conviction to the federal database, thus preventing him from legally buying guns. read more

The Left Can’t Wait to Confiscate

from the American Thinker:

Democrats Politicize Las Vegas before Blood Even Dry

Before the blood was even dry in Las Vegas, Democrats from coast to coast were pushing gun control. Hillary Clinton led the charge, finding time between fainting spells to tweet “Our grief isn’t enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.” (Translation: “Put your politics aside… and accept my politics! Oh, and my grief is never enough because I don’t feel any.”) But I guess, taking Rahm Emanuel’s counsel, leftists “never let a serious crisis go to waste.”

The waste, though, is that we’re even talking about this in a tragedy’s wake. But since the attacks have been launched, let’s discuss guns.

To use a twist on a Frédéric Bastiat line, the bad social analyst confines himself to the visible effect; the good social analyst considers not just the effects that can be seen, but those largely invisible and those that must be foreseen. Events such as Sunday’s massacre by murderer Stephen Paddock cannot be missed; they’re horrible, headline-making tragedies.

Useless Gun Laws Would Do Nothing to Stop Terrorism But They Move the Gun-Grab Ball Forward

by: the Common Constitutionalist

From the aftermath of the Orlando massacre come the expected cries for stricter gun control. But would we expect anything less from leftists whose credo is “Never Let a Good Crisis Go to Waste?”

And isn’t that what it’s really all about – moving the ball ever-forward – building that framework – brick by brick, law by law, regulation by regulation, lie after lie, until the framework is complete and there is nothing remaining but to confiscate our guns. Don’t ever be fooled into thinking this is not what they want – so embarrassed are they of our backwards country and so envious are they of the more advanced progressive nations in Europe and even Australia.

One of the most prominent gun-grabbers is California Senator Diane Feinstein. Call me cynical, but I believe the gun control measures which are just now coming to light have been written long ago and simply stored in some file somewhere just waiting for a “Good Crisis” to appear. One such is the legislation Feinstein is seeking  that would “place an outright ban on firearm purchases for those who appear on a federal terror watch list that includes those who are not permitted to fly.”

Of course to advance her silliness, she knows she’ll need Republican assistance, so she approached Texas Senator John Cornyn. He has already proposed his version of “common sense” gun legislation, which will “place a 72-hour delay on gun purchases for people on the terror watch list, and it would require federal officials to prove in court that the person should not be allowed to buy guns.” read more

Podcast – Time to Scrap the F-35 Fighter – Obama’s Latest Gun Control Measure – Young Man Shoots a Burglar

In this episode I discuss the monumental waste of taxpayer (that’s us) dollars that is the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. You would think at $100 million a copy it could at least get off the ground. And this the technological marvel which is supposed to replace the venerable A-10 Thunderbolt – the Warthog.

Segment two is a look at Obama’s latest attempt at gun control as he and his administrative hacks will attempt to require the use of smart gun technology for the military, law enforcement and all of us.

In segment three I discuss a brave young man from Alabama who shot an intruder while he was home alone. Although it was a happy, there are two sides to this story. read more

Three Opinions on Gun Confiscation

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The Atlantic published an article entitled “Do Republicans Have Any Real Reason to Worry about Gun Confiscation?”  It’s written from the perspectives of an American gun advocate, an Australian living in the U.S. and an anti-gun nut.

Well, I think we all know where I come down on the subject, as everyone should if they know anything about the Constitution and the founders. But sadly for most this is not the case – partly due to a woefully inadequate educational system and partly due to the never-ending flood of immigrants who arrive from countries with either much stricter control or no guns at all.

The Second Amendment advocate correctly claims that Obama and Hillary have told us that no one wants to take our guns, but then cite “Australia and the United Kingdom as examples to be aspired.” He states that those nations have indeed confiscated virtually all guns and Australia’s famous gun “buyback” program was not voluntary.

The advocates states that, “If American gun control proponents don’t want to be accused of wanting to confiscate guns, perhaps they should stop referring to the Australia and the UK as examples to be emulated.” Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Next up was the Australian living in the United States. He says he doesn’t think the “Australian approach would work in the USA, at least not for a long time.” He’s right but not for the reasons he cites. In Australia, he claims, it took a conservative leader, Prime Minister John Howard, who was willing to challenge gun ownership. Wow! What a conservative leader. read more

Man Has Legal Gun Seized

Am I the only one that sees a problem with the premise of the following event? How in the world are states and municipalities allowed to usurp the United States Constitution? The Second Amendment is quite clear about the right to keep and bear arms, yet we allow states to water down that right, with permits and licenses. Have a state try that with freedom of the press and watch what happens.

from TheBlaze:

An Ohio man will finally get his legally-owned pistol back nine months after police confiscated it following his controversial arrest in February. He was never convicted of any crimes and his arrest occurred after he called police to report a potential crime in progress.

The city of Cleveland reportedly agreed this week to settle the federal lawsuit filed by Derrick Washington over what he says was the illegal seizure of his .38-caliber handgun. Police had refused to return his gun even after a city prosecutor refused to press charges due to a lack of evidence. read more
