Please Mr. President – reconsider. Don’t do this. Please stop pushing Red Flag legislation.
Oh, like taxes, or frankly any law that deals directly with the people, they all start out, as does this suggestion from the President, fairly innocuously and backed with the best of intentions – at least outwardly.
But as Will Rogers said: “The difference between death and taxes is death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets.”
And ole Will’s saying doesn’t just apply to taxes. It applies to virtually all laws and all regulations.
Take the income tax … Please! Just kidding.
Seriously, in 1913, the first year of the income tax, the top tax bracket was 7 percent (and that included a six percent surtax) on all income over $500,000 ($11 million in today’s dollars), and the lowest tax bracket was 1 percent.

As he promised, Trump and his administration will seek to roll back Obama recently enacted auto fuel efficiency standards. Obama, in his want to drive the auto industry into ruin as he attempted to do to the energy industry, firmed up CAFE rules just one week before Trump took office.
But so-called experts claim that it will be difficult, if not impossible to roll back Obama’s regulatory rules. Of course it, because that’s how they write them. Make it easy to institute and impossible to rescind.
I hope Trump can pull this off, but the so-called experts aren’t very hopeful. read more

The Real Story Behind The Bundy Ranch Harassment
By now you’re familiar with the standoff between the federal government, i.e. the Bureau of Land Management, and 67 year-old rancher Cliven Bundy. (If not, check the backstory and my radio interview with him here.) The BLM asserts their power through the expressed desire to protect the endangered desert tortoise, a tortoise so “endangered” that their population can no longer be contained by the refuge constructed for them so the government is closing it and euthanizing over a thousand tortoises. The tortoises, the excuse that BLM has given for violating claims to easements and running all but one lone rancher out of southern Nevada, is doing fine. In fact, the tortoise has lived in harmony with cattle in the Gold Butte, Clark County Nevada for over a hundred years, or as long as Cliven Bundy’s family has lived on the land as ranchers. In fact, the real threat to it is urbanization, not cattle. read more
