Prisoner Paid for Time Served at Gitmo

For years many of us right-wingers complained that former president Obama (that is nice to say – former) was soft on terrorism. We showed incredulity at the naïveté of the president for releasing prisoners from the Detention Facility at Guantanimo Bay, Cuba.

“Does he not realize that a good many of these ‘detainees’ will just end up right back on the battlefield, looking to kill Americans,?” we said. And for some that did indeed occur.

Yet we do, or did, have something going for us – something we can hang our hat on. We can at least say we’re not Great Britain. As ill-advised as Obama’s Gitmo policy was, his judgment was still not as bad as England’s former Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

In 1994, British citizen, Ronald Fiddler, converted to Islam and changed his name to Jamal Udeen al-Harith, writes the Daily Mail.

In 2002, al-Harith was discovered in Afghanistan. After American forces captured him, “he denied being a terrorist and claimed to have been taken prisoner by the Taliban after visiting the Middle East as part of a ‘religious holiday.’” That’s where I always take my “religious holidays.” read more

Podcast – Children of ExxonMobil are Wracked with Guilt – Saudi Rehab Centers Recruit Jihadists – Czech Man Thinks he’s a Tiger

Two of descendants of John D. Rockefeller, the founder of Standard Oil, now ExxonMobil, are evidently guilty about their family legacy. So guilty are they over their dirty Big Oil legacy, that they are calling out the company, stating that ExxonMobil has downplayed the effect that oil drilling has had on Global Warming – because that’s what guilty rich liberals do.

Obama has been releasing terrorists from the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, so he might finally fulfill his promise to close the facility and further his radical legacy. Some of those released have been sent to a rehabilitation center in Saudi Arabia. However this rehab center appears to be a front for recruiting jihadists.

Don’t do drugs! If you do, you may begin to think you are a wild animal, like a young man in the Czech Republic, who was caught on video by a trail camera, completely naked. He thought he was a Tiger. read more

Close Gitmo – Leave It Open – It’s All the Same to Terrorists

by: the Common Constitutionalist

For years the refrain we’ve been hearing from the left has been to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Of course Gitmo isn’t just a prison – it’s a major military operational hub for the Caribbean theater, Central and South America. And frankly I’m not sure whether the left wishes to just close the prison or the entire base, which would be a huge mistake, but that’s a conversation for another time.

Those on the right have fought for it to remain open, arguing that we need some place to house these enemy combatants being that they are not conventional prisoners of war. The other argument is that we must have a facility, which is not on American soil, so as to not grant these dirtbags any civil or Constitutional rights and the fear is that once they plant their feet on American soil they must be treated like any other criminal.

I will not discuss the Constitutionality of the prison, the detention of “combatants” or of the “War on Terror” here. These are not the points of this article.

The left wants Gitmo closed, pure and simple. They care nothing for the potential ramifications of “freeing” the former and would-be-again terrorists. They just want it closed because they do. read more

Another Suspected Terrorist Is Freed

by: the Common Constitutionalist

After 13 years in captivity, the last Briton has been freed from Guantánamo Bay. Shaker Aamer has been held at Gitmo since 2002. He was captured in Afghanistan in 2001 shortly after the 9/11 attacks, where he claims he was a simply there doing charity work.

He was accused of aiding Al Qaeda, was handed over to U.S. Forces in February of 2002 and transferred to Gitmo. Now he has been freed and arrived back on British soil yesterday.

For his incarceration, the British government is expected to compensate him to the tune of about 1,000,000 pounds, approximately $1.5 million – provided of course by the British taxpayer. There are no reports, at least that I can find, explaining why the 46-year-old Aamer is being compensated by the British government. It appears they had nothing to do with his capture or incarceration. Reports only conclude that this is the approximate amount that others before him have received.

Interestingly, Mr. Aamer is not a British citizen. He’s Saudi Arabian, who happened to reside in London, with his wife and four children, prior to his “charity” work in Afghanistan. The “charity” work he was doing over there was never disclosed, although he was originally accused of having links to Al Qaeda and in his files he is described as having been a “close associate of Osama bin Laden” who fought in the battle of Tora Bora. He was suspected of leading a unit of fighters in the country, for which his family was said to have been regularly paid by Osama bin Laden. But I’m sure he was just an innocent charity worker caught up in all the confusion – the fog of war and all. read more

Does Judge Want More Terrorism?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Leftist U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ordered the U.S. military to release photographs of detainees being abused from at least seven different sites in Afghanistan and Iraq.

His ruling on Friday gives the government two months to decide whether to appeal before the photos could be released. Naturally, it was the ACLU who brought the case before the court, demanding government transparency and accountability.

It is believed that there may be anywhere between a few dozen to thousands of such photographs.

Not that I’m necessarily against the release of the photos – I must admit I really don’t care one way or the other, but that aside, I have two questions. Why release them – to what end? And exactly who is this judge and what could be his real motivation for the ruling?

First the Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein. He is a senior judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He received his law degree from Columbia Law School. Who else went to Columbia? Oh that’s right – our esteemed president. Just saying, as a fun factoid.

Hellerstein was personally recommended to progressive President Bill Clinton by the late liberal democrat Daniel Patrick Moynihan. One of Moynihan’s more famous or infamous progressive quips was: “The central liberal truth is that politics can change a culture and save it from itself.” Ah – the progressive mantra. I guess so can the judiciary, but to the left, it’s really all the same. read more

Not Quite the Same Outrage

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Remember this?

May 14, 2005: In Pakistan, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) President Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that desecration of the Holy Quran is a desecration of the whole Muslim Ummah.

Ahmad’s MMA contacted Islamic movements all over the world to organize protests and he added that a mammoth protest rally would be held in Islamabad.

And what was all this uproar over? As you may recall, the outrage was spawned from a Quran being flushed down a toilet at Gitmo. Only problem – it never happened. That didn’t seem to matter.

Like you, I remember Muslims being apoplectic over it and the left going bananas, repeating the bogus Newsweek report as if it were gospel. The hand wringing and apologies over the non-incident were so over-the-top as to be almost comical. Those who had nothing at all to do with any of the supposed incidences of abuse were both apologetic to the Muslim world and infuriated at the Christian west.

And how about Abu Ghraib where detainees were forced to wear women’s underwear. Oh the horror! There of course was world wide condemnation of such treatment, with still more protests by outraged Muslims.

Yet I don’t see or hear that same global indignation over the barbaric acts perpetrated by radical Islamists on Christians or their holy property. read more

Closing Gitmo – Where’s the Harm in That?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

In December, the daily caller reported that the State Department put a $5 million bounty out on Ibrahim al-Rubaysh who was suspected to be an Al Qaeda leader. Suspected, my aunt Fanny. You don’t offer up $5 million for a “suspected” leader.

GitmoThing is, he was released from Club Gitmo (hat tip Rush Limbaugh) back in 2006 by the Bush administration. However, since Obama has been our Monarch in Chief, he has, true to his promise, accelerated the releases in an effort to close Gitmo.

In 2014 alone, Obama has released Islamic dirtbags to Afghanistan, Uruguay, Georgia, Algeria, Kuwait, Slovakia and Saudi Arabia.

As an aside, did you know Saudi Arabia is building a giant wall and trench system along the entire border with Iraq? And why you ask? Well, it’s because they are scared to death of ISIS and unlike stupid Americans, they know walls can be built to keep people out. Just a fun fact.

So anyway, I’m not sure about some of those countries, but others it seems will just let the terrorists free to wreak havoc on us or our allies later. But what does Obama care – as long as he can clean out Gitmo. read more

Obama Released Worst Terrorist Yet

by: the Common Constitutionalist

What did we hear for so many years during the Bush administration? Our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan would create terrorism. Bush’s wars would cause more danger in the world.

Well, evidently letting terrorists walk free is far worse than fighting and killing them.

The UK Daily Mail reports that, “The United States once had Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi (his friends call him Bag-Daddy…Yo) in custody at a detention facility in Iraq, but president Barack Obama let him go, it was revealed on Friday.”

al Baghdadi was among the prisoners released in 2009 from the U.S.’s now-closed Camp Bucca near Umm Qasr in Iraq.

Naturally it would be against Obama’s brilliant foreign policy to simply transfer some of the worst to Club Gitmo where he could have all the comforts of home. Actually, I’m quite sure the “detainees” have never had it as well as they have at Gitmo.

Is this what we have to look forward to with the release of the five radical Islamists Obama just “traded” away – five more ruthless, bloodthirsty, would-be extremist leaders? Remember the five he released were not no-nothing foot soldiers. These were part of the al-Qaeda brain trust.

But now, five years later Bag-Daddy is leading an army of ruthless extremists bearing down on Baghdad who want to turn the country into an Islamist state by blazing a bloody trail through towns and cities, executing Iraqi soldiers, beheading police officers and gunning down innocent civilians.

And as for the five year mark – no one really knows. No intelligence agency can determine when he became part of ISIS. Upon his release, did he just step into the role? Who knows? read more
