Video Podcast – Trump is Beating Back EPA Regs – Nanny State Shuts Down Lemonade Stand

Trump’s EPA is rolling back regulations from the Obama radicals by shelving around 860 regulatory actions the last administration tried to sneak in, including the Clean Water Act.

The British Nanny State thugs shut down a 5 year old girls lemonade stand and fine her about $200. But it’s not just jolly ole England. It’s happening all over America. read more

Global Warming Science – It’s Settled – They Lied Again

How many times would you put up with being cheated on in a relationship? How many times would you tolerate being lied to? Is it one and done? Or maybe 2 – 3 – a half a dozen?

Obviously, this is a loaded question. It would depend on a number of factors. Independence vs. interdependence – or maybe just how forgiving a person is. Maybe it’s a relationship of convenience – like the Clintons – more a business partnership than a personal, loving relationship.

But what if the relationship were between you and cause? A cause you felt so strongly for, people considered you “wedded” to it. A cause like…oh…I don’t know…Global Warming.

What if you were all-in on man caused global warming because, as experts have oft-repeated, the science of global warming is settled? But then you found out that the cause you’ve been wedded to is almost entirely a lie? What would you do? You just may have to reevaluate your loyalty. read more

Our Government is Being Taken Over From Within

by: the Common Constitutionalist

We Constitutionalists have been warning America, for as long as I can remember, that the federal government will eventually grow to a size that is “too big to fail.”

Well, according to one author, that time is now. And because America sat back, content to watch the behemoth feed and grow, we are now witnessing an administrative coup.

The following are excerpts from an article at The Federalist entitled, “We Are Watching A Slow-Motion Coup D’etat.”

In this rather lengthy article (which is why I am merely sharing excerpts), the author, James Downton, astutely describes that we are currently witnessing a takeover of our government and our nation by the unelected Bureaucratic State.

Despite the length of the article, I would encourage everyone to read it. It’s well worth it. Downton doesn’t appear to be a particular fan of President Trump – just of small ‘r’ republicanism.

From the Article:

It’s nearly incontrovertible that a slow-motion coup d’etat is now taking place. Since November 9, 2016, forces within the U.S. government, media, and partisan opposition have aligned to overthrow the Electoral College winner, Donald Trump. read more

I Never Thought I Would Say This, but I Love the EPA

Needless to say I was really disappointed at the roll out and outcome of the Republican ObamaCare “fix.” And I’m sure I’m not the only one. So much so, that I went in search of some good news.

Son of a gun if I didn’t find some. It’s doubly good because it not only benefits us and America, but is driving the left batty. And it’s one of my hot button issues. Wins all around!

The Huffington Post somberly posted an article yesterday entitled, “Donald Trump Is About To Undo Obama’s Legacy On Climate Change.” From the left’s point of view, the subtitle, “The White House plans to scrap a rule on power plant emissions, kneecapping U.S. participation in the Paris climate accord,” is equally sobering. Ain’t it grand!

It’s funny, but it seems that left to do the things he is able to on his own, President Trump already has a good track record. Things go off the rails when the establishment wing of Congress gets involved, like RINOCare.

Now I’m certainly not advocating for Trump usurping the Legislative branch like the last guy did – I’m just stating the obvious. read more

DO REPUBLICANS WANT TO CRIPPLE GOVERNMENT?

Do we really want a “nimble” federal government? Or do we want one that is slow, plodding and methodical. I suppose it depends on whom you ask.

Anyone (hopefully) on the right, and who is a friend to the Constitution, would surely say they would vastly prefer a government that operates much as does an aircraft carrier. Although much of these things are classified to some extent, it can take, for example, up to five nautical miles just to stop a carrier – much less to reverse course. In other words – far from nimble – which is exactly what the founders intended to slow the intrusive creep of government. read more

Has Trump Scored Another Win with his EPA Selection

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Trump appears to be scoring a lot of points with the right, regarding his recent Cabinet selections. Just days after he selected Dr. Tom Price for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), he appears to have scored another potential winner. To learn more of Dr. Price, you may link to my article profiling him here.

This latest Trump selection is for the business and industry-killing Cabinet position of head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As we know, the EPA has done more than practically any other agency to set back the American economy and kill any attempted recovery. The current Director, Gina McCarthy, is a radical environmentalist with, amongst other things, a stated goal of killing off the entire American coal industry, not to mention oil, fracking, and any other industry she finds objectionable.

Her regulatory authoritarianism has been virtually unmatched and unchallenged. And she is evidently far from done. McCarthy is going down swinging in the waning hours of the Obama reign. I recently quoted her as saying: “As I’ve mentioned to you before, we’re running — not walking — through the finish line of President Obama’s presidency,” Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy wrote agency employees the day after the Nov. 8 election. “Thank you for taking that run with me. I’m looking forward to all the progress that still lies ahead.” read more

Flint Lead Problems Just Got Worse

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Flint, Michigan is known for one thing these days – lead poisoning.

In 2014 Flint began drawing its drinking water from the local Flint River while they waited to connect to a regional water source. Residents began complaining about the water quality and in 2015 it was discovered that some children in Flint had increased levels of lead in their blood. The Flint River water apparently had elevated lead levels and the children had ingested it.

It was all over from that point, for we all know that lead poisoning is very serious as it affects brain function, etc.

Now the residents of Flint have another health problem – and this time it’s real. I’ll explain the second half of that sentence in a bit.

It seems that the people of Flint have been sufficiently frightened to death by the lead scare that they are afraid to bathe or shower in the “contaminated” water. They are instead using baby wipes to clean themselves. The wipes are evidently not getting the job done. Because of this lack of basic hygiene, 53 Flint residents, so far, have been infected with Shigellosis, which causes bloody diarrhea, fever and nausea. There are a total of 84 victims of this highly infectious disease throughout the surrounding Genesee County. read more

Why Even Have Inspectors General

by: the Common Constitutionalist

In 1978, during the tenure of Yimmy the peanut farmer (Jimmy Carter), the Inspector General Act was enacted. And thus the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) was formed.

Federal Inspectors General are supposed to be “the head of an independent, non-partisan organization established within each executive branch agency assigned to audit the agency’s operation in order to discover and investigate cases of misconduct, waste, fraud and other abuse of government procedures occurring within the agency.”

From time to time the OIG conducts audits of the department or agency for which they are assigned, to ensure that each federal agency is operating within the law. Inspectors General have full authority to, “issue subpoenas for information and documents, administer oaths for taking testimony, and can hire and control their own staff and contract personnel. The investigative authority of Inspectors General is limited only by certain national security and law enforcement considerations.”

Therefore, by law, no department or agency employee or even cabinet appointee can refuse requests or demands made of them by the OIG. But this is not the private sector, where one can be fined or jailed for refusing to cooperate with official government inspectors. No, this is the federal government, and worse, this is the lawless Obama federal government. read more

Government Regulations Likely to Backfire Again

By: the Common Constitutionalist

What is the easiest way to kill an industry – any industry? The answer is to inject government into the equation. Government has long been a thorn in the side of American business. And it is also the answer to lessening competition for those crony corporations who, through donations and graft to politicians, are able to virtually lock out up-and-comers with a better mousetrap. As I’ve stated many times – the government takes it upon itself to pick winners and losers, as it has done for decades.

So how does government ruin companies and entire industries? Well, they can punitively tax them, but this has to be done legislatively and must be at least loosely based on the Constitution. That’s far too much of a hassle and also must effect all people or businesses. Oh, and it’s also far too public.

No, this the answer is and has been the Administrative State – bureaucratic regulatory bodies within the government whose dictates often go unheard and unseen to the general public, but whose rules and regulations carry the full weight of law – without the legislative entanglements and fanfare.

Save for the relatively informed few like us, most Americans are still virtually unaware of the havoc the EPA has wrought on the coal industry, or their stated goal to kill it off completely. The general public may only notice an increase in their power bill for which many will simply chock up to corporate greed. read more

Podcast – Supreme Courts Freezes EPA Clean Power Plan – Free Form Politics

In this week’s episode I discuss another razor-thin, 5-4 Supreme Court decision to freeze Obama’s Clean Power Plan while they decide if it is legal to ruin what’s left of the coal industry and further reduce greenhouse gasses.

In the Free Form Politics segment I go noteless and just speak extemporaneously about the candidates, who’s courting whom, who’s dissing whom, and why the supporters of one candidate are different from the rest. read more
