New EPA Rules Are Not about Climate, Just about Limiting

by: the Common Constitutionalist

You may have noticed gas prices cratering again, which is great news for individual consumers, but another bad sign for the overall economy. As much as I like filling up for a lot less, it’s less of a pleasure knowing that the price isn’t coming down because things are going so well. It’s the opposite. But still, the relatively low price does help.

However, the Obama administration doesn’t appear to feel the same regarding energy. He and his minions would prefer to drive the cost up, regardless of how much it hurts us. And what better way to achieve this goal than through the EPA and the threat of global warming. And son of a gun, they found a new target – methane.

Okay, it’s not new, but it has become the target du jour. ThinkProgress writes that, “Regulating Carbon dioxide, by far the most common greenhouse gas, is critical to halt the emissions that cause climate change. But methane is a very close second, and for the first time, the federal government is moving to significantly rein in methane pollution.”

However, they appear to have given up on sequestering cow farts, at least for now, as, “The Obama administration released a proposed rule Tuesday to regulate methane emissions from new and modified oil and gas wells across the country. How much? It’s complicated.”

Of course it’s complicated – the government is involved.

Naturally environmentalist wacko groups are thrilled with the decision to further crush the American economy and put still more energy workers on the ever-growing unemployment roles. read more

So This is a Feel Good Story?

By: the Common Constitutionalist

I was looking around the internet for one or more feel good stories as we head into Christmas Eve. So I Googled “Feel Good Stories”. Several headings came up and I thought, okay, I have a lot to do – this will be easier than I thought to find at least one uplifting story to maybe elaborate on for the great newsfollowing day.

So, as we all do, I clicked on one the higher ranking results. The site I chose was entitled “Great News Network – Positive Feel Good News”. I again thought – Wow – this will be easy, anticipating such a story as a family reunited with a military parent or a dog who found his way home, just in time for Christmas, after being lost for 3 months. Maybe I’d find a feeding the hungry story, or even a Christmas miracle. You know, something like that.

What I actually found, advertised as feel good stories, were posts which caused me to literally laugh out loud as I stared at the screen. read more

EPA: Every Puddle A Wetland

from CFACT:

Congressman Lamar Smith, Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, posted a series of maps he obtained via a FOIA request that EPA is using to plot wetlands.

Wetlands are a particularly sensitive issue right now as EPA evaluates its proposed rule to broaden what constitutes “waters of the United States” (WOTUS). The new rule would bring huge new territory under EPA’s control under the Clean Water Act.
