Video Podcast – Democrat Primaries are a Lesson in Irony

by: Brent Smith

The Democrats have been whining and complaining about the 2016 presidential election since day one.

Yet the very things they bellyache about, they do in their own primary election process.

But unlike the general election, which have rules spelled out in the Constitution, their primary isn’t. they can change these rules at anytime.

Yet they don’t. I discuss, what these ironies are and how the dems can change things, if they were actually concerned.

Is This the Swan Song of the Electoral College?

For years, if not decades, the left has been attempting to rid the presidential election of the scourge of the Electoral College.

But despite their best efforts thus far, they’ve been unable to find a “loop hole” to exploit. It’s that darn Constitution’s fault. If we could just rewrite that, we’d be all set.

It’s just not fair, they say, that Hillary Clinton and Al Gore both won the popular vote, the vote of the people, the very underpinning of our democracy (which we are not), but were denied the presidency due to this arcane method of selection developed by a bunch of dead white racists some 250 years ago.

However, one progressive State may finally have found a long-dreamt-of solution? I guess time, and unfortunately the courts, will tell. I say unfortunately, because no matter how cut-and-dry a case may seem, the various brain-trusts in the courts could decide otherwise. Hello – ObamaCare. read more

Video Podcast – Climate Change Collapsed an Empire – Democrat Amendments

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Akkadia was the world’s first empire.

It was established in Mesopotamia around 4,300 years ago after its ruler, Sargon of Akkad, united a series of independent city states.

Yet after just 100 years, the empire collapsed due to … Climate Change.

But when they tried to flee the empire they discovered their enemies to the South had built a border wall to keep them out.

Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee introduced two Constitutional Amendments after the dems took back the House.

The first is to limit the President’s Constitutional authority to grant pardons. Like everything for the next two years, it’s all to hamper Trump’s presidential powers.

The second is to abolish the Electoral College. Democrats wish elections of the President to be determined only by popular vote. read more

Leftists Say to Scrap the Electoral College for All Elections

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Last Wednesday, November 7th, the Washington Free Beacon’s Editors Blog featured a piece entitled, “Complaining About the ‘Senate Popular Vote?’ You Suffer From Civic Illiteracy.”

And boy they weren’t kidding. After reading it, all I could say was wow. Post election, some leftists took to Twitter to attempt to resurrect the meme of past lost presidential races, where the democrat won the popular vote, yet still lost the election.

One example was from Amanda Marcotte, who is a political writer for Salon.com. She tweeted: “Republicans lost the popular vote in Senate races by over 15 percentage points, but still gained two seats.”

You may be thinking – what does she mean by the popular vote? You may also be thinking that Salon.com should probably hire new writers.

Well, I guess we have to assume that if she is speaking of the popular vote, the implication is that there must also be another type of vote. Otherwise she would simply have said “the vote.” We know that during a presidential election there are indeed two types of votes – the popular and the Electoral College. read more

Video Podcast – Tom Perez – Graduate of Harvard LIE School

by: Brent Smith at The Common Constitutionalist

I would first like apologize for some wind noise that interfered with the podcast. It is only sporadic, but it does happen out on location.

DNC Chairman Tom Perez, graduate of Harvard Law School, claimed that the Electoral College, which elects the President, is somehow not in the Constitution.

Perez is too smart and well schooled for this to be a misstatement. Therefore, he lied.

Today, I discuss his lie, why he lied, and why the Electoral process is so important. read more

Let’s Eliminate the Electoral College

What a shocker. Hillary wants to dump the Electoral College because she won the popular vote. Frankly, with the recent revelations about all the election fraud, I’m not convinced she did that.

from the Blaze:

Hillary Clinton calls for elimination of the Electoral College

Host Anderson Cooper noted that Clinton refers to the “godforsaken Electoral College” in her new memoir about the election, titled, “What Happened.”

Maybe Trump Really Did Win the Popular Vote

Let’s say, just for fun, that you were a flight attendant. One of your jobs is to check the number of passengers vs. what’s on the flight manifest. Too few and you would chalk it up to someone missing their flight. Oh well. But what if there were too many passengers? You would figure there’s a problem.

The same might go for a cruise ship, like the Love Boat. Maybe Gopher, the ship’s purser, found a discrepancy. He discovered there was a stowaway – or maybe several more on board than the ship’s manifest indicated. Naturally you would think he would alert the authorities. Stowing away is illegal.

You know what else is illegal? Falsely registering to vote. But this, according to the left, simply isn’t happening. It was just another hyperbolic claim from our unhinged President.

However IBD, reporting on Judicial Watch’s Election Integrity Project, found that, “some 3.5 million more people are registered to vote in the U.S. than are alive among America’s adult citizens.” You don’t say. read more

Did Trump Win Also Win the Popular Vote?

from IBD:

Late in 2016, we created a stir by suggesting that Donald Trump was likely right when he claimed that millions of noncitizens had illegally voted in the U.S. election. Now, a study by a New Jersey think tank provides new evidence that that’s what happened.

Last November, just weeks after his Electoral College win that gave him the presidency, then President-elect Donald Trump tweeted, “In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.”

The reaction was angry and swift, with the left accusing him of being an “internet troll” and of hatching a “Twitter-born conspiracy theory.”

At the time, we noted that a group called True The Vote, an online anti-voter-fraud website, had claimed that illegals had cast three million votes last year. The media and left-wing groups immediately portrayed True The Vote as a fringe group with little credibility. read more

Already Broke Cities and States Pour Money into Illegal Immigrant Defense Funds

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The Electoral College drama has ended and Donald Trump is the next president of the United States. Turns out it was much ado about nothing, as there were few surprises. Now it’s on to the implementation of his agenda, and whether his actions will match his campaign and post-election rhetoric.

Front and center of his agenda items will, or should be what brought him to the dance in the first place. I’m speaking of course of illegal immigration. He must build the wall, which he says construction will commence in March, 2017. The other issue will be to begin deportation of illegals.

Although he will get pushback over construction of the wall, it won’t be nearly as virulent as the deportation issue. After all, we get can’t really put a face to the wall, which liberal groups will surely do regarding deportation. The Trump administration had better be prepared for a fight, as cities and states across the country are already preparing what they are calling, “Immigration Defense Funds.”

Cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, as well as the States of California and New York intend to flood these “funds” with tens of millions of dollars – money which none of them have. read more

Hillary Lost Without California

from: IBD

Outside California, Hillary Clinton lost the popular vote by 1.4 million to Donald Trump. (ZUMAPRESS.com/Newscom)Outside California, Hillary Clinton lost the popular vote by 1.4 million to Donald Trump. (ZUMAPRESS.com/Newscom)

Democrats who are having trouble getting out of the first stage of grief — denial — aren’t being helped by the fact that, now that all the votes are counted, Hillary Clinton’s lead in the popular vote has topped 2.8 million, giving her a 48% share of the vote compared with Trumps 46%.

To those unschooled in how the United States selects presidents, this seems totally unfair. But look more closely at the numbers and you see that Clinton’s advantage all but disappears. read more
