Trump Should Reconsider Ethanol Mandate

This is honest reporting. Many sites on the right do nothing but promote everything Trump. I as well support the President’s policies, but when he makes a wrong decision, he should be called out. This is one of those times and it’s important to point it out.

from IBD:

This is one campaign promise we wish President Trump would break. But alas, he just told his EPA to give up any thought of cutting back on the federal government’s anti-consumer, anti-environment ethanol mandate. Sad.

The story begins in 2005, when President Bush approved the Renewable Fuel Standard program as part of an energy bill, which required oil refiners to blend in predetermined amounts of “biofuels” into their gasoline, starting at 4 billion gallons in 2006.

A revised version of the RFS, which Bush signed in 2007, expanding the program, requiring ethanol levels to climb steadily to 36 billion gallons by 2022. read more

Trump Admits Mistake over Strange Endorsement

from iPatriot:

Alabama is in the midst of a nasty, dragging senate race that has been the recipient of an intense amount of Washington attention.

The reason for this is simple:  Alabama’s two major candidates are from polar opposite ends of the political spectrum, and the election has been seen as a referendum on how the atmosphere in the nation’s capital will shape up in the coming years.

On one side you have Luther Strange; an establishment republican with big-money ties, special interest backers, and a firm grip on what it takes to be a political elitist. read more

Trump U.N. Speech Will Not Soon be Forgotten

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The Trump speech at the United Nations was a walk-off grand slam home-run. And I don’t even like baseball. I thought I was watching Big Papi!

But enough already. I feel like a darn Yo-Yo – or maybe Michael Corleone, from the Godfather 3. “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”

No, I’m not talking about the Mafia. I’m referring to my support of President Trump.

I’ve said at least a few times that I’ve developed shin splints as a result of jumping off and back on the Trump bandwagon. He’ll do or say something positive or constructive for the nation, and then follow it up a day or two later with something dopey – or vice versa.

This time around, he did something dopey, i.e., meeting with Schumer and Pelosi. I don’t care how clever you think Trump is – you don’t make deals with the devil(s) – nor do you even agree to meet with them. You don’t lend those two any legitimacy of any kind – ever. For his dalliance with the two democrats, I said I had one foot on and one off the Trump bandwagon.

Then he turns around and gives a speech for the ages at the United Nations – one that should swell the hearts of Americans who are sick and tired of the United States kowtowing to the despots and dictators who populate the U.N. read more

The Left Equates Trump to a Latin America Dictator

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Another day brings more insanity from the left.

As the novelty of statue-felling is slowing, it’s time to return to the old stand-by: Trump Derangement Syndrome. Now they’re worried that Trump will refuse to vacate the White House when his term(s) is up.

It is interesting that the left thinks of Trump exactly what we thought of Obama earlier in his reign of terror – that he would not vacate the White House. Some even posited that Obama would attempt and end around the Constitution and run for a third term, due to his overwhelming popularity.

But later in his presidency, Obama, I thought, couldn’t wait to get out. He had accomplished virtually everything he set out to do. And in the end, he did in fact hightail it out of there to begin a lifestyle of the rich and famous, filled with champagne wishes and caviar dreams (h/t Robin Leach).

Yet, as Barack is living it up, his radical legacy is living on within the pro-communist Antifa movement. They’ve taking the baton from Obama, and are seeking to “change our traditions, change our history and move into a different place as a nation” (h/t Michelle Obama).

Like Obama and the radicals that came before him, like Alinsky, Cloward and Piven and many others – Antifa seeks to upend virtually all American traditions. read more

So the President Pardoned Sheriff Joe – So What

By: the Common Constitutionalist

I don’t often disagree with the Washington Examiner, but I’m afraid I must this time.

They posted an article entitled, “Trump, once the law and order candidate, embraces lawless disorder with Arpaio pardon.”

So now it’s not only the left who are piling on Joe Arpaio and President Trump, but those on the right are joining the chorus.

You would expect that Trump would have received mass-condemnation from the left. After all, they are the soft-on crime party of illegal aliens. However, many on the supposed right, or who at least call themselves Republicans, are also screeching at Trump’s pardon of the former Maricopa County sheriff.

“The speaker does not agree with the decision,” Doug Andres, spokesman for Speaker Paul Ryan said. “Law-enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States. We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon.”

And what is all this hubbub about? Why did Sheriff Joe have to be pardoned? He was found guilty of criminal contempt by a leftist Clinton appointee, U.S. District Court judge Susan Bolton. She found him guilty of defying her order to cease the “profiling” of Latinos. read more

Tillerson Should be Next to Go

Is Secretary of State Rex Tillerson next on the chopping block? Perhaps he should be.

Despite what you may think of Donald Trump, he’s still President of the United States and CEO of the Executive Branch. As such, all Cabinet secretaries serve at the behest and pleasure of the President.

This can be problem for some, particular those who have transitioned from the private sector, where they were the big cheese, and now must suddenly become a subordinate.

Recall the exchange at the White House after Ronald Reagan was shot, when Alexander Haig uttered his infamous statement – as of now, I’m in charge, comment.

“Constitutionally, gentlemen, you have the president, the vice president and the secretary of state, in that order, and should the president decide he wants to transfer the helm to the vice president, he will do so,” Haig explained to reporters in the White House press room, apparently forgetting that the House speaker and the Senate’s president pro tempore come before the secretary of state in the line of succession. And then, in a dozen words that would become famous, he said, “As of now, I am in control here, in the White House.”

Of course he wasn’t, but he was used to being in charge, so in my opinion, this was just a natural, although knee-jerk and ignorant reaction. He had been an important man for decades, as an Army General, then Chief of Staff to Nixon and Ford, and Secretary of State to Reagan. read more

Cruz Want’s Trump to Shread the Paris Climate Agreement

from CNN: (Yep – CNN – Go Figure)

OP-Ed from Ted Cruz:

Trump should withdraw from Paris climate pact

Following a successful international tour and the G-7 Summit in Italy, President Trump has an opportunity to relieve our nation of the unfair and economically devastating requirements of the Paris Agreement, the United Nations climate treaty he pledged to rip up during the campaign.

And as soon as possible, President Trump should act on — and keep — his campaign promise.

The agreement, signed by the Obama administration last year, would commit the United States to drastically reducing its carbon emissions while allowing some countries to increase theirs. This, all while doing nothing to meaningfully decrease global temperatures. read more

The Website, The Nation, has a Message for the Left

Some on the left are concerned about the praise being heaped on President Trump over his single bombing campaign in Syria. No, it’s not the praise from the right, but coming from liberals who, like democrat politicians, normally have nothing constructive to say regarding Trump.

Now ultra-leftist sites like The Nation.com are worried about this new found respect of Trump, even if it is temporary, as demonstrated by an article entitled, “Too Many of Trump’s Liberal Critics Are Praising His Strike on Syria.”

It seems that The Nation feels compelled to remind fellow travelers that Trump is the enemy and you never say anything good about the enemy.

They insist that if one from the left shows favor toward Trump on this single action, they must therefore “account for what comes next.” read more

Will We Again be Trapped in a Middle East Triangle of Hate

President Trump sent 59 Cruise Missiles into Syria. Unlike Bill Clinton’s feeble attempt at a Cruise Missile strike which hit an empty aspirin factory in Khartoum Sudan, the Trump strike hit the mark.

The missile attack was retaliation for a chemical attack launched by Assad on the Syrian people. As the Assad air strike originated from Shayrat Air Base in Assad controlled Homs Province, this was the logical target for the Trump Cruise Missile attack.

This naturally led to a worldwide mental melt down and conjectures that this is the first official volley of World War III. And who knows – it may be. But I wouldn’t be too quick to jump to that conclusion.

There are some real bad actors in this conflict and I’m not sure which is worse – Bashar al-Assad or Vladimir Putin. On the surface Assad would seem to be the personification of evil, and he indeed is, but we know he won’t lift a finger without first checking with the Godfather, Putin. Personally, I think this was Putin’s doing.

For the last eight years, old Vlad has basically had the run of the globe, to go anywhere and do anything he wishes without fear of reprisal from Commander Lead-from-Behind, Obama. read more

Cinco de Mayo – More Like Cinco de Cancelled

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The great refrain of the left, the establishment right, and anyone who does not understand human nature and dynamism, has been: “What are you going to do – deport all 11 million illegals?”

Yes we’ve heard it for years. Funny how the 11 million number never changes. But anyway.

The question they all ask is set up to be rhetorical – like it‘s not really a question. To the small minds on the left and the defeatists of the right, it is rhetorical. Of course we won’t and/or can’t round them all up. Therefore the only other choice is to let them all stay.

It, as the smart people say, is a binary choice. There is no other option. And then along comes president Trump.

Now I don’t know if Trump is student of history or not, but what he is doing, or rather authorizing, is beginning to already pay dividends. Many news outlets on both sides of the political spectrum are reporting illegals getting the message that the new sheriff will round you up like so much cattle and run you back across the border.

Of course this is not the administration’s stated policy, but who cares. The press’s misinformation campaign appears to be working. And if you are a staunch anti-illegal immigration advocate like me, you’re as happy to see this as am I. And it just keeps getting better. read more
