Trump Says to End All Government Electric Subsidies

from IBD:

Trump Is Right — Subsidies For Electric Cars, Renewable Energy Must End

President Trump’s economic adviser Larry Kudlow says subsidies for electric cars and other renewable energy programs might soon be eliminated. That would be a major victory on the road to energy freedom.

National Economic Council chief Kudlow, a well-known free marketeer and supply-sider, said subsidies might disappear as soon as 2020 — interestingly, the next presidential election year. The decision comes after General Motors — the beneficiary of $2,500-$7,000 tax credits for those who buy GM’s plug-in cars, not to mention two separate corporate tax cuts — decided to close five North American plants, leaving 14,700 workers without jobs. The move infuriated Trump.

“As a matter of our policy, we want to end all of those subsidies,” Kudlow said. “And by the way, other subsidies that were imposed during the Obama administration, we are ending, whether it’s for renewables and so forth.” read more

Like John McCain – Jeff Flake’s Hatred for Trump Clouds his Judgment

Hatred and want for revenge may feel good at the time, but they are bereft of any reason and logic. And despite conventional wisdom, they are poor motivators. Yet still, these too irrational emotions continue to be the catalyst for a lot of what goes on in Washington. And RINO Senator Jeff Flake just proved it once again. His hatred for the president has allowed another week’s destruction of a good man and unfortunate family.

Ivanka Unfairly Attacked by Leftists

Let me state at the outset. I’m not a fan of Ivanka Trump. At least not politically. She certainly appears to be a good person, a good wife and a wonderful and caring mother.

Her political/social views are another thing all together. Ivanka is no conservative. She is liberal on immigration and climate change. She is for paid family leave, special rights for the LGBTQ – Ei-Ei-O crowd, and supports universal pre-k. That’s just some of her stances, but it’s enough for me to take a pass.

However, I find myself coming to her defense as she is once again personally attacked by the vile hellions of the left.

And what was her crime this time? Well, she had the nerve to post an Instagram photo of her lovingly holding her youngest son Theodore. Oh the horror. But how could such a sweet and simple photo trigger the left?

That’s easy. Her last name is Trump. That and the left had such high hopes that the more liberal Ivanka and her husband Jared would be able to influence the president when it came to policy issues. They’ve been demonstrably disappointed.

So they’ve taken to attacking her personally for her father’s political positions. read more

Podcast – Increasing Racial Tensions and Nancy Pelosi’s Gift

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Racial tensions in America seem to be getting worse over the years – not better. And we’re struggling for a reason as to why it is.

And no where does it appear more prevalent than the recent rash of traffic stops by white police officers and persons of color.

Many believe that the reason is simply race-baiting, but I beg to differ. Instead I believe the problem is similar to that of the Palestinians, who have grown up being taught and brainwashed to hate and fear the Jews.

I also discuss Nancy Pelosi – the gift to Republicans that keeps on giving. Her insanity and Trump derangement syndrome has reached what may be a pinnacle as she comes to the defense of the evil street gang – MS-13. read more

What Happened to Sean “Penny Plan” Hannity

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

This upsets me, but if we are to remain true to conservative ideals, we must be prepared to call those who appear to have abandoned them.

In early July, 2011, U.S. Representative for Florida’s 14th congressional district, Cornelius Harvey McGillicuddy (cool name), better known as Connie Mack IV, introduced a government spending plan called the Mack Penny Plan.

Mack served in Congress from 2004-2013.

More precisely, Mack Penny was a plan to cut government spending. Unlike virtually all things in government, his plan was quite simple. For every dollar of proposed spending, the plan would take away one penny of spending. So instead of the government spending that dollar, they would receive 99 cents to spend. See – simple.

In August of that year, FreedomWorks wrote that, “The Penny Plan would require Congress to cut just one penny out of each dollar it spends every year for six years. These gradual cuts over the next six years will balance the federal budget.”

If it were enacted it would have, “capped Overall Spending at 18 Percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Starting in Fiscal Year 2018, Reduce Overall Federal Spending by $7.5 trillion over the Next Ten Years, Would Balance the Federal Budget by 2019 and End Washington’s Unprecedented Spending Spree.” read more

Video Podcast – White House Immigration Framework is a Colossal Joke

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

What can be said about the White House Framework on Immigration Reform & Border Security. The only word I can think of is that it’s a travesty.

The framework is shaping up to be just another big government boondoggle devoid of conservative substance and replete with liberal giveaways.

The Framework, with its coddling of illegal aliens and reward of citizenship is, or should be, a personal affront to any American citizen, and especially to every legal immigrant. Most who spent years of time and much money to do it the right way.

I’m praying that I wake soon and realize this has all been a bad dream, because as it stands, it is merely a bad joke. read more

The Shutdown that Never Was

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Well, that was quick. The government shutdown (that isn’t a shutdown) came and went like the month of March. In like a Lion and

out like a lamb. All the hand wringing, finger pointing and bloviating on both sides – and for what? The dreaded and overhyped shutdown lasted less time than did the recent MLK long weekend shutdown. Pathetic.

Yet once again, all they did was kick the can down the road a yard or two, until February 8th. This theatric performance by both parties shows that the entire weekend row was nothing but politics and one-upmanship – symbolism over substance on both sides.

Neither the republicans nor the dems want a shutdown – ever. Truth be told, both parties, save for a scant few true conservatives, want to be able to spend as much as they wish with no restraints. It’s why government grows each and every year and why politicians think government exists. And why the budget never gets any smaller.

The only difference is the projects on which the two wish to overspend, which is why they all take elections so seriously. Elections real boil down to who controls that massive pile of federal money. read more

Trump is a Regulation Slashing Machine

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Scroll Down for Audio Version

As I have said many times over the past several months – that left to his own, President Trump is getting a lot accomplished, and virtually all of it is conservative-friendly. I’ve also stated ad nauseum, that I wasn’t a Trumpster, but have begun to come around. I will still never be a Trump apologist or mouthpiece. You know – those who go on Fox News and excuse everything the man has ever done, or will do. That’s just absurd.

But let’s give credit where credit is due. With all he’s had to contend with this past year, he’s done a remarkable job. Just imagine where we could be if the establishment would have given up their quest to torpedo his Presidency and come along for the ride.

One thing he’s begun, but not near completed, is government regulatory restraint. It is not as glitzy, and seemingly not as important as elections or scandals, but in fact, it as at least as important, if not more so, in the grand scheme of things.

And why is this? Well, I’ll you why. read more

Trump Should Reconsider Ethanol Mandate

This is honest reporting. Many sites on the right do nothing but promote everything Trump. I as well support the President’s policies, but when he makes a wrong decision, he should be called out. This is one of those times and it’s important to point it out.

from IBD:

This is one campaign promise we wish President Trump would break. But alas, he just told his EPA to give up any thought of cutting back on the federal government’s anti-consumer, anti-environment ethanol mandate. Sad.

The story begins in 2005, when President Bush approved the Renewable Fuel Standard program as part of an energy bill, which required oil refiners to blend in predetermined amounts of “biofuels” into their gasoline, starting at 4 billion gallons in 2006.

A revised version of the RFS, which Bush signed in 2007, expanding the program, requiring ethanol levels to climb steadily to 36 billion gallons by 2022. read more

Trump Admits Mistake over Strange Endorsement

from iPatriot:

Alabama is in the midst of a nasty, dragging senate race that has been the recipient of an intense amount of Washington attention.

The reason for this is simple:  Alabama’s two major candidates are from polar opposite ends of the political spectrum, and the election has been seen as a referendum on how the atmosphere in the nation’s capital will shape up in the coming years.

On one side you have Luther Strange; an establishment republican with big-money ties, special interest backers, and a firm grip on what it takes to be a political elitist. read more
