Transcript:

I first want to start off with an observation made years ago by one Glenn Beck, long before Trump ever considered running for President. Those who don’t care for Beck, just stay with me. This is not about him.

He was talking about what the polished, buttoned up phony Obama was and frankly still is. He was aloof, seemingly unflappable, great speech maker, always mindful of his words. Glenn said that we must be careful in our next choice for president because otherwise it’s likely to be the polar opposite. Both in terms of policy and also in demeanor.

Glenn predicted that the next president might be a “gravy stain” president. You know, the guys that spills gravy down the front of his shirt and then doesn’t seem to care. He’s not polished or buttoned up. He’s more blue collar and acts and speaks that way.

It wasn’t a hard prediction. After all, if you trust the pendulum theory, that the pendulum tends always to swing wildly from one side to the other. It never seems to go from hard left to center and vice versa. read more

Dick Durbin Bullies Walgreen

from IBD:

Well, the thugs and bullies in the White House and on Capitol Hill have scored another victory — if you can call it that — over a major American company.

After a month of assaults and threats from the D.C. political class, venerable drug retailer Walgreen Co. announced it will remain headquartered in Illinois for the time being instead of entering a tax-inversion merger with Europe’s Alliance Boots that would move it abroad to lower its tax bill.

Good news for Washington, but the millions of Walgreen shareholders aren’t partying it up. read more

Dick Durbin; The Dreamer

from:   at TheBlaze:

Update: It’s Friday morning and efforts by TheBlaze to extract an official response on this story from Senator Durbin are ongoing. As of 10:15 ET, there has been no official statement released from the senator’s offices.

It has been two days since a rather unflattering story broke about Alaa Mukahhal, one of Senator Dick Durbin’s “Dream Act” poster children. His website also refers to them as “American Dreamers” and highlights their stories online.

In those two days, the offensive Facebook pages of Alaa Mukahhal have been scrubbed and Senator Durbin has managed to duck or avoid TheBlaze’s efforts to secure a comment on her offensive actions and words.

Before 10 a.m. on Thursday, TheBlaze tried contacting Sen. Durbin’s office in Washington, D.C. In our first request to speak with the senator’s press secretary, we were hung up on. Additional requests for a connection to the lawmaker’s press secretary, Maria McElwain, via a cellphone or email address were not honored. No calls have been returned. read more
