Stunning: California Dems Reject Feinstein for Reelection

from Zero Hedge:

In Unexpected Snub, California Democrats Refuse To Endorse Feinstein For Reelection

In a stunning – if not altogether unexpected – blow to long-time California Senator Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the California state Democratic Party opted not to endorse their own senior senator as she prepares to start campaigning to defend her seat in the 2018 midterms.

Delegates to the state party convention instead favored progressive state Senate leader Kevin de León, over Feinstein by a 54% to 37% margin, according to results, which were announced early Sunday. And while neither candidate reached the 60% threshold required to receive the party endorsement outright for 2018, de Leon’s camp claimed it as a profound victory. read more

Useless Gun Laws Would Do Nothing to Stop Terrorism But They Move the Gun-Grab Ball Forward

by: the Common Constitutionalist

From the aftermath of the Orlando massacre come the expected cries for stricter gun control. But would we expect anything less from leftists whose credo is “Never Let a Good Crisis Go to Waste?”

And isn’t that what it’s really all about – moving the ball ever-forward – building that framework – brick by brick, law by law, regulation by regulation, lie after lie, until the framework is complete and there is nothing remaining but to confiscate our guns. Don’t ever be fooled into thinking this is not what they want – so embarrassed are they of our backwards country and so envious are they of the more advanced progressive nations in Europe and even Australia.

One of the most prominent gun-grabbers is California Senator Diane Feinstein. Call me cynical, but I believe the gun control measures which are just now coming to light have been written long ago and simply stored in some file somewhere just waiting for a “Good Crisis” to appear. One such is the legislation Feinstein is seeking  that would “place an outright ban on firearm purchases for those who appear on a federal terror watch list that includes those who are not permitted to fly.”

Of course to advance her silliness, she knows she’ll need Republican assistance, so she approached Texas Senator John Cornyn. He has already proposed his version of “common sense” gun legislation, which will “place a 72-hour delay on gun purchases for people on the terror watch list, and it would require federal officials to prove in court that the person should not be allowed to buy guns.” read more

No Ms. Feinstein – It Was Not a Classic Lone Wolf Attack

by: the Common Constitutionalist

May I ask a question? Why are Democrats even allowed to be on the Senate Intelligence Committee? They clearly have little intelligence.

Case in point: the top Democrat on the committee, Diane “Gun Control” Feinstein claims that the Muslim shooter in Chattanooga is a “classic case of a lone wolf terrorist attack.”

But then she says in 2014, ISIS, “put out a call for people to kill military people, police officers, government officials, and do so on their own, not wait for direction. It could well be that this is that case. Here is somebody who had guns, who knew how to use them, who may have been aggrieved by one thing or another.” I guess he was aggrieved.

Okay, I guess he’s a “lone wolf” in the sense that he didn’t appear to have coordinated the attack, but Democrats are notorious for attempting to persuade us that radical Islamists are no different than any crazy person like Dylann Roof or James Holmes. read more

Senate Intelligence Report Is Old News

by: the Common Constitutionalist

So the Senate intelligence committee report on CIA “torture” practices has been released. The report is apparently 6300 pages and the summary is 600.

Out of all those pages the only thing we should take from the report is that America, at least under Republican control, is bad.

CNN reported that “The CIA’s harsh interrogations of terrorist detainees during the Bush era didn’t work, were more brutal than previously revealed and delivered no ‘ticking time bomb’ information that prevented an attack, according to an explosive Senate report released Tuesday.”

Well, there you go. It’s just as Rush Limbaugh said – America is the worst, according to Feinstein, the Democrats and the mainstream media. Apparently we need to just stop being so mean to the terrorists. After all, what have they ever done to us – other than blow up our buildings, kill our soldiers and citizens – shoot and behead us. Yeah – there is that.

Yet according to even Leon Panetta, the CIA’s “enhanced interrogation” did in fact lead to the capture of many Al Qaeda operatives, and out of the thousands of terrorists captured, a grand total of three were waterboarded.

Those three were Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Abu Zubaydah and Abd al Rahim al-Nashiri. I couldn’t think of three better candidates.

It’s interesting to note that the report was crafted not by Senator Feinstein or any member of the committee. It was written by unelected, unaccountable Democrat staffers who apparently never even interviewed any CIA officials, and assessments made by the staffers are refuted by classified information that is not included in this report. read more

Feinstein Decides Who is a Journalist

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), backed by Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), has proposed an amendment to a journalist shield law sponsored by Senator Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier in the month. She wants to choose who can and who cannot be considered a journalist.

Schumer’s shield law bill’s purpose is aimed at protecting journalists’ sources. A renewed push for stronger media shield laws came after disclosures earlier this year that the Justice Department secretly subpoenaed two months’ of telephone records for phone lines used by reporters and editors for The Associated Press and secretly used a warrant to obtain the emails of a FOX News journalist.

“We need a strong media shield bill now more than ever,” Schumer said. “This is an important step forward that strengthens this bipartisan bill and should give it even more momentum to clear the committee and the Senate by the end of the year.”

The New York Democrat’s effort came complete with a four-page explanation of who would be protected under the law, summarily, a person “with the primary intent to investigate events and procure material in order to disseminate to the public news or information concerning local, national or international events or other matters of public interest.”
