In May of 2015, Georgia Congressman, Dr. Tom Price, released a statement introducing the “Empowering Patients First Act.”

In his press release, Dr. Price, a former orthopedic surgeon, highlighted the “legislation that fully repeals Obamacare and starts over with patient-centered solutions.” Included in the Act are “solutions including individual health pools and expanded health savings accounts, tax credits for the purchase of coverage and lawsuit abuse reforms to reduce the costly practice of defensive medicine.”

Well this sounds good, as I’ve always been an advocate of health savings accounts, and tax credits are great – much better than a mere tax deduction. Unlike a tax deduction, which only lowers your taxable income slightly, a tax credit is an actual dollar-for-dollar reduction of your income tax liability. In other words, a $1,000 tax credit saves you $1,000 in taxes. And for those unfamiliar with the term “defensive medicine,” it is, for example, when a doctor will insist on doing a dozen tests on a patient, when one or two will do, for fear of getting his butt sued off.

So why bring this up almost two years later? Well, in case you haven’t heard, Dr. Price is Trump’s nominee to head up the Department of Health and Human Services, or HHS. This is good news, as it is evident the Congressman is no fan of Obamacare and will therefore be an integral part of its repeal, and replacement of the nationalized system with a private sector-based healthcare system. read more

Marco Rubio Is The Establishment

from Mark Levin at Conservative Review:

I was among the first national radio hosts to support Marco Rubio in his uphill Republican primary campaign for the Senate against the unprincipled Florida Governor Charlie Crist.  Back then, he ran as an unabashed Tea Party conservative.  I also supported Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, among others, in their campaigns against the entrenched GOP establishment.  But soon after arriving in Washington, Rubio decided to throw in with these politicians – including John McCain and Lindsey Graham and take an active leadership role in the Gang of Eight fiasco.  As he runs for the Republican presidential nomination, Rubio has attempted to redefine his position on immigration yet again, resulting in his utter incoherence on the subject.

Rand Paul Attacks Ted Cruz

from Conservative Review:

Does Rand Paul believe the road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is paved with endless pandering?

At a time when GOP leaders, led by Mitch McConnell, are engaging in the ultimate betrayal and funding Planned Parenthood and all their butchery, Rand Paul is training his fire on….Ted Cruz!  He lashed out at the senator from Texas, predicting that he’s “done for in the Senate.”  He seemed particularly perturbed by Cruz calling McConnell a liar, even though the senior senator from Kentucky indeed engaged in one of the most verifiable and public acts of lying earlier this year.

Sadly, the negativity Rand is projecting on Cruz for fighting back against the political enemies of our time is precisely why Paul is “done for” in the presidential race. The voters are looking for someone who has no respect for the current system and those who broke it, not someone who is trying to pander to it.  They are looking for not just a pandering vote, but a robust voice.  Rand would be wise to watch Cruz’s epic speech this week, which essentially encapsulates all the frustrations all of us have had with the current political system.  If Rand has a better way forward, it’s clearly lost on everyone.
