Climate Change & Hollywood

Hollywood and global-warming panic have always been a natural match. After all, who can tell you better to cut back on your wasteful ways better than a high-flying multi-millionaire movie star with the carbon footprint of a Tyrannosaurus Rex?

It’s never mattered that the stars have all the scientific expertise of Pee Wee Herman. They’re just so good-looking and famous, who cares? PBS broadcast a ten-hour series in 1990 entitled Race to Save the Planet. The show’s host was Meryl Streep, who proclaimed: “By the year 2000…the Earth’s climate will be warmer than it’s been in over 100,000 years. If we don’t do something, there will be enormous calamities in a very short time.” read more

Podcast – ISIS Fighters Discriminate – A Happy Climate Update

In this episode I discuss how all ISIS terrorists are not created equal. There is discrimination in their ranks and a State Board of Education sets new rules that allow for actual climate debate in the classroom.

The Climate VICE

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The hot political talk is Obama’s VICE  interview, where he naturally blames George Bush once again for a problem he has caused – the current terrorist threats in the Middle East.

But Obama spent the first third of the interview, a full 6 minutes on an even greater problem – that of climate change.

Let’s be clear from the get go. This was not an interview. This was a pro-Obama commercial done in a bubble by an obvious Obama sycophant and cheerleader, VICE founder Shane Smith, who is in love with Obama and everything he stands for.

Mr. Smith is obviously a climate change fanatic, for when Obama mentions climate change Smith perks right up. What I found interesting was that the “interview” actually began with a mini docudrama of how Antarctica is melting away.

It’s apparent that one third of the interview regards global warming but it seems they take great pains not to say the words, but rather replace them with climate change, as they do these days. That is until climate change becomes pejorative. The terms used to be interchangeable, but it seems no longer, although Mr. Smith slipped up and said global warming once toward the end. I’m surprised they didn’t edit that out. read more

Waiting for a Climate Apology

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The Sierra Club gleefully reports that our saints at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to date have forced the closure of 186 coal-fired power plants. They claim there are still 337 to go. According to their data each coal-fired plant produces an average of 500 MW of energy, capable of powering roughly 260,000 households. That’s over 48 million households deprived of inexpensive energy, and all in the name of combating global warming.

Their reasoning is to combat the emission of carbon dioxide, that evil greenhouse gas that has caused our Earth to warm unnecessarily.

Yet recent discoveries have found what we’ve known all along. That man-made climate change is a scam and a scandal of proportions that we have never seen.

Not long after it was announced that 2014 was the hottest year on record, evidence has come to light of massive tampering of temperature data to make it appear that the earth is warming.

Paul Homewood discovered the tampering when he examined NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies temperature recordings. You may read about his findings here and here. He began by looking at the recordings from rural stations in South America. What he found was staggering. The originally recorded data had been changed dramatically. Not just altered slightly but shifted dramatically. read more

Green Energy is Rubbish

from: Breitbart

Some people call it “renewable energy” but I prefer to call it “alternative energy” because that’s what it really is: an alternativeto energy that actually works (eg nuclear and anything made from wonderful, energy-rich fossil fuel.)

Now a pair of top boffins from uber-green Google’s research department have reached the same conclusion.

Ross Konigstein and David Fork, both Stanford PhDs (aerospace engineering; applied physics) were employed on a Google research project which sought to enhance renewable technology to the point where it could produce energy more cheaply than coal. But after four years, the project was closed down. In this post at IEEE Spectrum they tell us why. read more

Left Coast Stupidity on Display

by: the Common Constitutionalist

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods? Here in New England we’re freezing our tushies off. It could be worse. We could be living in the Lakes region or Buffalo New York buried under several feet of snow, with more on the way. And winter is still over a month away.

I was speaking with a buddy of mine from Houston Texas a day or so ago. He told me was in the 30s. The 30s – in Houston – where they fry bacon on the sidewalks in May.

In fact the whole country is frozen over, save for maybe the southern tip of Florida.

However, none of this seems to have any affect on the liberal wackos in Berkeley California.

Kristin Bender of the AP writes: “Some of the country’s first gas pump warning labels about climate change are coming to Berkeley, a city with a long history of green and clean policies. The Berkeley City Council voted late Tuesday to draft a proposal by next spring that will put stickers on gas pumps citywide to warn customers that burning fuel contributes to global warming.” read more

Is It Fight or Flight for Obama?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Late last week Karen Tumulty and Juliet Eilperin at the Washington Post wrote a column entitled “Will Obama fade or fight as Republicans gain control of Congress?”

They wrote that when his [Obama’s] “party got walloped last week in the midterm election an unbowed president Obama declared that he would ‘squeeze every last bit of opportunity’ to push his agenda in the waning years of his presidency. In the past few days, he has shown that he meant it.” Yes, the only ones he bows to our sheikhs and dictators.

My first question to the ladies is to name one time when he hasn’t squeezed “every last bit of opportunity” out of his mostly unlawful and unconstitutional agenda?

An aside: I don’t know where my head is at. I apologize for my “ladies” reference, them writing for the WaPo. That was insensitive and assumptive. It’s quite possible one or the other, or both, are transgendered, transsexual, gender bending or questioning.

Anyway, they go on to list, in no particular order, all the “opportunities” Obama must still squeeze out. Sorry for the sphincter reference, but if the shoe fits, so to speak. read more

For Krugman – Up Is Down – Right Is Wrong

by: the Common Constitutionalist

This is the world, according to Paul Krugman, as he shares with us his genius in his latest New York Times column, “Triumph of the Wrong“.

Anyone who knows of Krugman can guess from the title and its proximity to the elections that he is referring to the Republican drubbing of the Democrats last Tuesday. Oh – and that he’s not fond of the result.

He begins his learned piece with this gem: “… of another Republican Party sweep, politics determines who has the power, not who has the truth. Still, it’s not often that a party that is so wrong about so much does as well as Republicans did on Tuesday.”

I actually agree with this statement, save for replacing the “Republicans” with “Obama and his policies”.

He continues by saying: “So now is a good time to remember just how wrong the new rulers of Congress have been about, well, everything.” read more

Our Biggest Challenge Ever…Overcoming Hypocrisy

by: the Common Constitutionalist

On August 6, Sec. John “Lurch” Kerry exclaimed in Honolulu that our biggest challenge is terrorism, Ebola, Russia, China, the economy, climate change.

Yes climate change is the “biggest challenge we face right now”, so said Kerry – and then he boarded his government 757 jet and flew off to his next destination.

CFACT reported that, in Africa, Kerry told leaders that they should stop creating new farms because “certain agricultural processes can actually release carbon pollution.”

Brilliant – telling the starving in Africa to stop trying so hard to feed themselves because they might affect the climate. Then he boarded his jet and flew off to lecture some other third world country, no doubt.

Yes, Obama and especially Kerry pulled out all the stops leading up to the big climate summit happening this week.

Interestingly, NewsMax reported that, “While 120 heads of state were invited [to the UN summit] some of the largest CO2 emitters have declined. Aussie Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and even on Angela Merkel, president of whom uber-green German apparently made other plans.”

I guess not all the world leaders are suckers. read more

Green Energy Hype

Beware of marketing terms such as “clean,” “renewable,” and “sustainable.”  While those words may seem very nice, they have routinely been co-opted and redefined through misleading “Green” messaging campaigns.
GREENHOUSERegarding “clean” energy, let’s agree that no sane person wants dirty, polluted air, land, or water. Nope, not even conservatives.
At the same time, let’s also not confuse carbon dioxide, the plant food that all carbon-based life depends upon, with “air pollution.” The simple fact that the Supreme Court gave EPA permission to regulate it as a polluting “endangerment” under its Clean Air Act does not make this true.
That 2009 ruling decreed that atmospheric concentrations of six greenhouse gases (including CO2 ) “threaten the public health and welfare of current and future generations.” How? Because they pollute global temperatures — warm apparently being considered to be bad, and conversely, frigid obviously being good.
