Thank the Democrats for a Non-Functioning Missile Defense System

Last Friday IBD wrote  that, “Shortly after the North Korea [ICBM] test, Politico ran an article pointing out that ‘the Pentagon and its contractors still haven’t figured out how to reliably shoot down an intercontinental ballistic missile.’ The Washington Post noted that after spending tens of billions of dollars, the system ‘has never faced combat or been fully tested.’”

You may recall the fanfare a few months ago over a triumphant test of our missile defense system. We successfully intercepted one of our own mock ICBMs launched from the Marshall Islands. A Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) was deployed from California and shot down the ICBM. Hooray for us!

Unfortunately, that intercept is the exception, not the rule, and that’s very worrisome. The one successful intercept was as close to being “laboratory” conditions as one can be. Everything about the trial was highly scripted.

And Missile Defense Agency (MDA) director Vice Admiral James Syring told a House committee recently that “I would not say we are comfortably ahead of the threat. I would say we are addressing the threat.” Translation: We’re in trouble. read more

Can We Please Repeal Dodd-Frank Already

by: the Common Constitutionalist

As most are aware, the government’s response to the mortgage/banking crisis was the passage of the “Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act,” commonly known as Dodd-Frank, for the namesakes and supposed authors of the bill, Chris Dodd and Barney Fwank.

Dodd-Frank was signed into law on July 21, 2010, by our dear former president Obama. Practically the day after passage, Republicans came forth en masse to protest the law and vow to repeal it.

Well – it’s been 7 years – how bout it.

Just yesterday Senator Orrin Hatch declared  Dodd-Frank to be, “worse than Obamacare. I think it’s one of the worst bills that’s ever been passed through Congress.” Hatch added that, “To treat all these banks like they’re a bunch of crooks and you have to watch everything they do is, I think, beyond the pale.”

Naturally, those on the left are all a-twitter, insisting that the infinitely more competent federal government must continue to keep these “crooks” and incompetents on Wall Street in check. Without government intervention, Wall Street and Mortgage banking would look like the Wild West.

So who’s right and who’s wrong, and just why did we need the over-burdening Dodd-Frank law to begin with? read more

In Defense of Anthony Weiner

by: the Common Constitutionalist

NEW ITEM: Scroll down for the audio version of this article.

I think we can all agree that Anthony Weiner, aka Carlos Danger, is a big steaming bag of pooh. I mean – taking a photo of one’s barely covered man sausage with your young son right next to you in bed? That’s pretty low – even for him. Actually, I guess it isn’t being that this is evidently not the first time he has used the kid as a “chick magnet” (his words).

Sadly, I’m sure he’s not the only dad doing this sort of thing. He’s just the most famous – and possibly the dumbest. That, or he is so desperate for any attention, he just doesn’t care.

However – is Weiner really doing anything worse than the potential “first dude” has done? When you think about it, Weiner appears to just be the 21st century Bill Clinton. Does anyone think that if Bubba had available this type of smartphone technology in the `80s and `90s, he wouldn’t have used it to its fullest? Darn right he would’ve.

In fact, Bill Clinton is a much bigger dirt bag than Carlos. Weiner’s hook-ups at least appear to be consensual, where as – well – we all know about Clinton’s abhorrent exploits. Yet Bill Clinton is treated like a rock star, while Weiner, whose marriage appears loosely patterned after Bill and Hil, is just a disgraced deviant. read more

Of All People – Hillary Tries to Play the Race Card

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Yesterday I was critical of Donald Trump’s new and evidently “evolving” illegal immigration policy. Some Trump supporters didn’t take kindly to any criticism of their man. That’s too bad, because we constitutionalists were in favor of Trump’s original hard line on illegal aliens. It’s a shame he appears to be softening.

But in order to be fair and intellectually honest, we will also defend The Donald when the Dragon Queen, Hillary Clinton, throws false accusations his way.

Of all the things Hillary could accuse Trump of, she and her team have decided it is time to play the tried-and-true democrat race card. Historically this tactic has worked quite effectively against most, if not all Republicans – mainly because most Republicans are too spineless to fight back and tell the truth about the Democrat Party.

We can only conclude that most on the right still have not educated themselves on the roots of the Democrat party and instead accept the false narrative that Democrats are the champions of minorities. Of course, it is the exact opposite. The Democrat party has been the party of racism, segregation and eugenics, whereas it was the Republicans who fought for equal rights and the closing, or at least defunding of the black eugenics factory, Planned Parenthood.

Obama was obviously able to play the race card because he is… well… black. But for Hillary to attempt it is a laugh riot. Her and Bill, throughout their history in public life together, have befriended and lionized many known racists. read more

Just Call Her Jihadi Val

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Ed Klein at the New York Post  reports that “Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett leaked to the press details of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private e-mail clinton31address during her time as secretary of state… But she did so through people outside the ¬administration, so the story couldn’t be traced to her or the White House.” Oops!

“Six separate probes into Hillary’s performance have been ¬going on at the State Department. I’m told that the e-mail scandal was timed to come out just as Hillary was on the verge of formally announcing that she was running for president — and that there’s more to come,” Klein reports.

Okay – I don’t normally pat myself on the back – but I called this one, actually telling someone a week ago that it was probably Jarrett who is trying bury Hillary Clinton, but is also most likely behind the potential toppling of long time Clinton buddy Rahm Emmanuel in Chicago, where Jarrett is from, and of course where Obama lived. I frankly think she is trying to kill off (figuratively) or at least tarnish everything Clinton. read more

Good Decisions are a Function of Government

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Rush Limbaugh says Obama’s “Nudge Squad” is designed to promote certain behavior. I’m sure he just misspoke. The Nudger’s themselves admit they are attempting to do much more than just promote. Government can and already does produce commercials that merely promote an agenda. No, the “Nudge Squad” is not a promotional group. These “behavioral scientists” are charged with steering us into making the “correct” decisions.

And who determines what is the correct decision? Why, the administration. They are the arbiters of right and wrong, good and bad behavior.

Do you recall the statement by Bill Clinton, circa 1999? Thanks to the reforms forced on him by the Republican Congress and the tech bubble, the government had a surplus. Regarding that surplus Clinton said: “We could give it all back to you [the taxpayers] and hope you spend it right… Do you really want to run the risk of squandering the surplus?”

Just like the Nudgers of today, he didn’t really give us a choice. It’s what the academics, the behavioral scientists call “mandated choice”. The choice he gave us was between squandering the surplus on one government program or another. Some choice.

“Mandated choice”, where one has to choose between one thing or another is not true choice. How would you like to go; stabbed or shot? It’s your choice. Again, some choice. No, “mandated choice” is used to accomplish one thing; to modify people’s behavior, for to progressive, collectivist academics that have infested our government for over a century, only they know best. Only they know what is good for us.

In the late 1980s the popular slogan was “Bo Knows”. It was the brainchild of Nike and featured the two-sport athlete Bo Jackson. It was changed in 2008 to “Barack Knows”, the brainchild of who the heck knows but stated by wife Michelle. She exclaimed: “Barack knows that we’re going to have to make sacrifices; we are going to have to change our conversation; we are going to have to change our traditions, our history; we’re going to have to move into a different place as a nation.” She continued: “Truly, the choice we make will determine nothing less than who we are as a country, but more important it will determine who we will be.”

But what if we don’t want to move or change? Then enter the Cass Sunsteins of the world. Glenn Beck called Sunstein the most dangerous man in America. He was right.

Cass joined the Obama administration early on. He headed up the OIRA (Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs). He was Obama’s regulatory czar, a Chicago egghead academic that believes he has all the answers and couldn’t wait to foist them on the American people. Working behind the scene he tasked himself with weighing the interests of the greedy individual to that of the utopian collective or society.

He was a huge fan of FDR and his second “Bill of Rights“. If you know nothing else of Cass Sunstein, that is sufficient.

Sunstein is the father of the modern day “Nudge Squad”.

But now the baton has been passed to Maya Shankar, a twenty something, no nothing, Yale leftist. She is a White House “senior” policy analyst charged with influencing Americans behavior. One could only guess who she has been aligned with. If you guessed Soros’s Marxist “Center for American Progress” and “Open society”, you’d be correct.

So our government has assembled a “Nudge Squad”, complete with far left ideologues to control our behavior and shove us back into line lest we step out.

Glenn Beck had it right (as usual) when he said: “first they nudge, then they shove, then they shoot.” It’s the way of the oppressor and if we don’t fight it now, we will find out just how bad it can get. They won’t stop unless we stop them.

The Clinton Hustle

The following video is of the Rush Limbaugh TV show in 1995. It just demonstrates that it’s always the same with the left. They just leap from one crisis to another. We hear the same dire warnings now that we heard 18 years ago. Nothing ever changes with the left. The sky is always falling, unless we spend more.
