Bernie Sanders is a Wealth of Bad Ideas

from IBD:

Bernie Sanders Wants Jeff Bezos To Pay For The Welfare State — What Could Go Wrong?

Bernie Sanders, who never held a steady job until he started getting paid by taxpayers, thinks Amazon should pay its workers more. And if it doesn’t, he wants to tax Amazon for each “underpaid” employee, to finance government benefits. Even Bernie’s friends think he’s off the rails.

Sanders, never one for subtlety, calls his new bill the “Stop BEZOS Act.” It would impose a tax on each worker employed by any company that hires more than 500 people. The tax would cover 100% of the cost of whatever federal benefits those workers or their families might also be getting. read more

Wealthy Socialists can Thank Capitalism

On this episode of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Socialist,” Stu Burguiere of the Glenn Beck show highlights two of today’s most popular democrats. Stu explains that both Bernie Sanders and the latest star of the Party, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have only capitalism to thank for their success. What they’ve achieved could not occur under the socialist or communist systems they claim to love.

Video Podcast – Feelin the Republican Bern – Leftists took to Twitter

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Recently, a camera wielding interviewer took to the streets of New York City. There he founds liberals who were actually quite enamored with the new Republican Tax law.

How could this be you may ask? Easy – the roving conservative reporter presented the Republican plan as one authored by their hero Bernie Sanders. These leftists agreed with practically every proposal within the plan, when they thought it originated with Bernie.

Some radical leftists took to Twitter a few days ago to lament not just the Republican tax plan, but Louisiana Representative Steve Scalise’s help in passing it.

Recall that Scalise was the unfortunate soul gunned down by another unhinged Bernie supporter during a Congressional baseball earlier this year.

They tweeted that the shooter should have finished the job. read more

Socialism is Never Cool

Socialism never works. Look at a country like Brazil. Brazilian journalist Felipe Moura Brasil explained all about the rise and fall of his country in a segment at Pragar-U online.

In the early 2000s Brazil was a burgeoning capitalist nation. Inflation, something that plaques all socialist paradises was drastically reduced and the government had decided to give up or at least pare down its hold over many “state-run” companies. They were moving toward a free market – toward capitalism. Things were looking pretty good for Brazil.

In 2006 Brazil became one the famous BRIC nations, and American and other private investors poured their investment dollars into Brazil, looking to get in on this new free-market boom. BRIC was a group of four “emerging market” nations ripe for private investment. BRIC stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China. Not so much any more.

But they made one big mistake. You see, in a truly free society, while most succeed, some will be left behind. It’s just the way it is and has always been. Not everyone has equal talents, nor is everyone equally industrious. Politicians love to focus on these free-market inequities. They prey on the guilt of the more industrious and convince the rest that through a transfer of wealth, all can share in the bounty. Sound familiar. Are you “Feelin the Bern?” read more

Bernie Continues to Bash the Rich

Politics is the art of currying favor with voters to secure an election. More often than not it is currying favor to secure reelection.

How do politicians’, particularly leftists, best curry favor? They do so by means of give-aways – or at least the promise of give-aways. This is the modern leftist politicians’ job – to makes promises to give voters free stuff. And it’s why so many incumbent politicians get reelected.

Incumbents are already on the inside. A challenger is on the outside looking in. They can only make promises, while the incumbent can remind voters of the free stuff they are already getting – and if they want even more, they should reelect the incumbent. This puts the challenger at a decided disadvantage.

Democrats are masters of the art of the “promised” give-away. But for them and those who actually believe their rhetoric, it is not just about giving away stuff, but promising to take other peoples’ stuff by force of government and giving it to their voters.

The evil rich are their favorite target, and we saw this on display during the Cruz/Sanders tax debate the other night on CNN. All night it was Sanders vs. the rich, with an injection of reality and reason from Ted. read more

Like ObamaCare – Bernie’s Medicare-For-All will Cost You

Did you hear the good news? The left appears to be giving up on single-payer healthcare – or at least is one leftist.

Okay – not quite. Actually not at all. Socialist front man, and member of the richest 1 percent, Bernie Sanders, who has pushed single-payer for a while now, no longer speaks of it.

Sanders now trumpets Medicare-for-all. It’s the same thing. He just changed the name to something probably focus-group tested that sounds more attractive. Bernie wishes “to provide quality care to all, in a cost effective way.” He states that, “while your taxes may [will] go up to pay for this publicly funded program, that expense will be more than offset by the money you are saving by the elimination of private insurance.”

By saying it’s publicly funded, it sounds like he’s selling it as free healthcare for all – and I’ll guarantee you, this is what his followers are hearing. Well, it’s not free. He never says anything about how much the “free” government system will cost you and me. Anyone currently on Medicare can confirm it is hardly “free.”

First, as Sanders admits, are increased taxes. How much will this be? No one knows. Know one can possibly know. Just be assured that it will be significant. read more

The Left Should be Tried for Inciting Violence

Growing up – most of us were taught that sticks and stones will break our bones, but words can never hurt us. Well, not anymore.

Words, we are told, lead to violence, and on college campuses, it seems words are violence itself.

Although I don’t subscribe to this view, I suppose some can think it true in some instances. It certainly happened in the much publicized case of the then teenage girl who convinced her teenage boyfriend to off himself by means of a car (or truck) exhaust.

We on the right say that this is ridiculous. It may have been the girl’s prodding, but it was the boy’s choice and only his, to act on her insistences. No one forced him to listen to her blather. No one forced him to act.

He and he alone is responsible for his actions – not her. But of course we know by now that this is not how it went down. The girl was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, for talking the weak-willed boy into action. Pathetic!

In a real world filled with reasonable people, this case would have never seen the light of day. A judge would have tossed it out telling the plaintiff to grow up. It was no ones fault but his own. read more

Podcast – My Answers to Some of the Cruz v Sanders Debate Questions

Although I found the Obamacare debate between the Constitutionalist Ted Cruz and the commie Bernie Sanders highly entertaining and informative, I thought there were points that could have been made, but were not.

I share a few of these, presented by me, in my own less than articulate (compared to Cruz) and impolitic way.

After listening, you will agree with me – that I could not get elected dog catcher. read more

Leftists Go Nuts at the Thought of Betsy DeVos as Education Secretary

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The intolerance of the “tolerant” left has never been more evident than during the many cabinet hearings this year. The democrat vitriol has been on full display in virtual every hearing, but possibly none more contentious than that of nominee for Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos. Although it may be a toss-up between her and Jeff Sessions – a 1 and 1-A type of thing.

Let me go on record, saying emphatically, that there should be no education Secretary, because there should be no federal Department of Education.

But since there is, and it doesn’t appear President Trump has any design to dump it, we must have someone to run it, so Trump has chosen the multibillionaire DeVos, as the left prefers to describe her.

Radical leftists have lost their minds over DeVos. The College Fix reported  on a Facebook post by UC Berkeley Professor Robert Reich, former labor secretary under Bill Clinton and senior whack-job of MoveOn.org saying: “DeVos knows nothing about public education, cares nothing for public education, has never even been publicly-educated, and appears to have learned nothing in her briefings for the hearing. If she’s confirmed, anyone can be confirmed for anything.”

Well, knowing nothing more than this, she has my endorsement. But Reich isn’t too far off, regarding his comment that the Senate will confirm anyone for anything. read more
