A Win for the Good Guys in Virginia

There was a vote to ban “assault” weapons, and other gun-related items in the blue commonwealth of Virginia. And the news is nothing short of miraculous.

With all the anti-gun rhetoric coming out of Virginia lately, one would believe that the commonwealth who brought us George Washington, James Madison and George Mason had gone completely off the constitutional rails.

But instead of passing a sweeping weapons ban, cooler heads prevailed and tabled the vote until 2021. It wasn’t a vote in favor of the Second Amendment entirely, but it is progress.

I ask that at the end of the article, you watch the video. It’s quite instructive. And it ends well!!

Dianne Feinstein: Assault Weapons Like Child Pornography

The Senate Judiciary Committee passed Feinstein’s gun-grabbing bill that bans over 150 different types of guns, but it didn’t pass without a fight from Republicans. Ted Cruz grilled Feinstein on the Constitutionality of her gun ban, reminding her that the same “right of the people” applies equally to the 2nd Amendment as it does to the 1st and 4th Amendments.

He asked her if she thought it within the purview of the federal government to ban certain books because it didn’t like them (in violation of the 1st) or claim that certain citizens are not protected against unlawful searches and seizures (in violation of the 4th). After all, he contended, this is what she and her Democrat team are doing with the 2nd Amendment and semi-automatic weapons. They’ve simply deemed those firearms “assault” weapons and have arbitrarily decided that they are scarier than other guns for the time being, and because of that, they can be legally banned.  Continue Reading

Confiscation, Here it Comes!

Missouri Democrats Introduce Bill to Confiscate Assault Weapons in 90 Days

While everyone’s attention is on President Obama and the federal government’s attempt to strip Americans of the Second Amendment rights, politicians at the state level are trying to enact their own anti-gun laws without the general public knowing it.

Missouri Democrats have proposed a bill that would require everyone in the state who owns an assault weapon and/or high capacity magazine to turn them in within 90 days of the passage of the bill.

Sponsored by first term Democrat Rep. Rory Ellinger, from part of St. Louis County, House Bill 545 is a direct violation of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Like every other screaming frightened liberal, Ellinger and his co-sponsors have no concept of what an assault weapon really is. His bill reads in part: [emphasis mine]

“To amend chapter 571, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the manufacture, import, possession, purchase, sale, or transfer of any assault weapon or large capacity magazine, with a penalty provision.”

“1. As used in this section the following terms shall mean:

(1) “Assault weapon“, any:

(a) Semi-automatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:…Please continue Reading

Gun Grab Caused by Newtown Shooting?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Dr. H. Wayne Carver, the medical examiner investigating the December 14, 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, said autopsies completed on 20 children and six adults on Saturday showed they were killed with multiple bullets fired by a rifle at close range.

“I’ve been at this for a third of a century and my sensibilities may not be those of the average man, but this probably is the worst I have seen or the worst that I know of any of my colleagues have seen,” Carver told reporters gathered at Treadwell Park, less than a mile from the school where the shooting occurred.

The veteran medical examiner told reporters that the victims had all been identified and their bodies released. Carver appeared to be very uncomfortable during his news conference, complete with conspicuously nervous laughter throughout.  It was a rather odd and macabre display of callousness; down right creepy, if you ask me.

He said all of the victims he had examined had all been shot by a Bushmaster .223 caliber assault rifle, one of at least two weapons Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old suspected shooter, used to commit one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history.

Yet on later that same day, NBC reported that both federal and state officials had confirmed to them that in fact Lanza carried 4 pistols into the school. That, in fact, Lanza left the Bushmaster rifle in his car and didn’t take it into the school.

I am not a nutty conspiracy theorist, but something went on here and someone, for some reason, was lying about the weapon or weapons Lanza used to slaughter these kids and their teachers.

Yet, I don’t here a word about this major discrepency of facts. Why not?

If this school was assaulted by Lanza using only handguns, why the sudden hew and cry over the banning of assault weapons?

Is no one else even the slightest bit curious to find the facts in this case, before we go off and start the great American gun grab? Guess not.

Feinstein’s Reasonable Stance on Guns

Senator Diane Feinstein has parts of new gun control legislation ready to go. In December on NBC’s Meet the Press, Feinstein talked about giving President Obama a bill he can “lead on” and used the term assault weapon loosely.

Feinstein has posted a summary of what the legislation will cover, which inculdes a ban on semi-automatic handguns and shotguns in addition to rifles. The legislation also requires registration of previously purchased guns. If passed, ATF would be in charge of enforcement which should be a huge concern to gun owners.

Flush With Anti-Gun Bills

With the left looking for its next big cause, Congressional Democrats have latched onto the Sandy Hook massacre as an opportunity to push gun control. Yesterday alone, eight new bills were introduced relating to gun control. Two conservative bills were introduced relating to ending “gun free zones” under federal law.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) led the way with four bills introduced. Her husband was shot to death in 1993 and her son was severely injured when Colin Ferguson, a mentally unstable black militant (he spent time in his apartment chanting, “all the black people killing all the white people”), shot up a Long Island commuter train.

She has been a longtime gun control advocate. In 1997, she tried to push a federal law that would have mandated trigger locks on all firearms. She introduced legislation that would have forced gun companies to produce firearms that were “child-resistant.” In 2007, she tried an “assault weapons” ban that would have targeted some 65 types of firearms.

The measures McCarthy introduced include:

  • Significant restrictions on gun show transactions, which would in effect end gun shows;
  • No online purchases of ammunition, and licensing of ammunition dealers, as well as reporting to the federal government all bulk ammunition purchases;
  • Prohibition on the transfer, sale, or possession of ammunition clips beyond a certain size.  Continue Reading

Just Ban All Guns

by: the Common Constitutionalist

The left is in an absolute uproar over guns. They are even more apoplectic than normal. Of course, normal and the left are not usually synonymous.

Virtually all media outlets are on a mission to convince the public that inanimate objects are the cause of their woes. The world, or at least this country, would be a veritable utopia if not for guns.utopia

After the NRA press conference given by Wayne LaPierre, reporters discussed the event. They were evidently unaware of my microphone that was still hot and continued to record their interactions. One reporter said, “The NRA basically said it’s everybody’s fault but ours” and that Wayne LaPierre, “failed to bring up assault weapons”.

A female reporter seemed quite pleased as she described how the Code Pink protesters that interrupted LaPierre’s speech, saying she thought they [Code Pink] did a, “really good job” making their signs large enough to hide the NRA Chair’s face.

Yet another reported that the NRA security staff looked like WWF wrestlers and would most likely hit one of the activists with a chair once out of camera view.

These people, as do we, call themselves reporters. Well they aren’t reporters. A reporter’s job is to report the facts on a subject, topic or incident to those who aren’t there. That’s it. These folks are as much anti-gun activists as is Code Pink. Frankly they’re worse. With regards to Code Pink, what you see is indeed what you get. They are rabid antiwar, anti-nra-killinggun nuts, but at least they are honest about.

These so-called reporters continually lie of whom they are. They attempt to fool, what Rush Limbaugh correctly describes as the “Low Information” citizen; those who pay scant attention to politics or real issues, but can name every contestant on “The Voice”. Considering where our country is headed, I’d say these “so-called reporters” have been mighty successful.

We know the formula and it is always the same. Scare enough “Low Information” voters into forcing knee-jerk legislation from the spineless politicians, with little or no regard to previous law or the Constitution, of which they know little, if anything about.

Now they are all complicit in the March toward a gun free society.

Now I don’t wish to bring any liberals reading this to orgasm, but that’s what this administration and the left in general is striving for – a country without guns.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be without guns. Like all other progressive utopian schemes, some would be “allowed” to retain their weapons. The correct class of politician would still be able to secure them, as well as their security details. Elitist Hollywood liberals would be allowed access, as well as those in political favor, and oh… criminals. They, of Doombergcourse, could still procure guns.

So to recap; the lawless, Hollywood elitist hypocrites, those who write the gun laws (the politicians) and those persons who the politicians find politically favorable will all be able to retain weapons.

We serfs, however, will not be so lucky. We will be forced to rely on the government to protect us, as someone is entering our home to rob and kill us while we wait 20 minutes (or more) for a 911 response to clean up our bodies and take statements from whomever is left alive.

I’ve stated this all too often and find myself repeating; the radicals on the left have taken over the Democrat party and most Republicans are too spineless to fight. They will never give up until all guns are confiscated from the law abiding.

Mark my words – this will not stop with just an “Assault Weapons” ban, or a ban on high-capacity magazines, or whatever.

As an aside – assault weapon is a made-up term. It is whatever scary looking gun the anti-gun crowd says this. Frankly one could wreak more havoc with a couple of well-SNIPERmaintained revolvers than with a scary looking AR-15, for there is no fear of the revolver jamming and they very rarely misfire. Does that now make a revolver an assault weapon?

The goal of those currently in power is not merely to ban a few scary looking weapons, but to disarm the American citizen, period. Learn your history folks – this always ends badly and is what our founders, those certified geniuses warned us of, which is why they wrote the Second Amendment; to protect us from what will soon be coming.

Run Dennis…Run Fast… & Furious

Man behind Assault Weapons Ban, Ran Fast & Furious

by: Mary Chastain

Those who have been covering Operation Fast and Furious for 18 months know all about former US Attorney Dennis Burke. The general public doesn’t know much about him, because like many of the high officials involved in Fast & Furious, he was allowed to resign quietly and face no consequences for his actions.

Operation Fast & Furious placed hundreds of guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. Guns from it were found at the death scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry on December 14, 2010. They’re also connected to hundreds of deaths in Mexico, including a brother of a state attorney general. Guns have been found at twelve crime scenes in America.

Burke, from the Arizona US Attorney’s office, ran Operation Fast and Furious.

This is the man who was a Majority Counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1994 when the Assault Weapon Ban passed. Actually, Senator Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ) gave him and Rahm Emmanuel credit for the passing of the ban. He became Chief of Staff to Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano and worked with her from 2003-2008. He gave $2,000 to then-Senator Obama’s presidential campaign. He’s also given $16,350 to other Democratic candidates. When Janet Napolitano became the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Mr. Burke became her Senior Advisor. In July 2009, President Barack Obama nominated him to be the US Attorney of Arizona.

He was confirmed six weeks later. Fast & Furious began in November 2009.

In order to receive more funding and to use high tech equipment Fast & Furious had to become part of the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which would put it under control of the Arizona US Attorney’s office.

“Although ATF was the lead law enforcement agency for Fast and Furious, its agents took direction from prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa wrote in a May 3 memo. “The lead federal prosecutor for Fast and Furious was Assistant U.S. Attorney Emory Hurley, who played an integral role in the day-to-day, tactical management of the case.”

Unfortunately, Mr. Burke’s office made it more difficult to interdict weapons. They needed approval from the attorney’s office to do anything, and many times the office wouldn’t give their approval. But that wasn’t the only problem.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office advised ATF that agents needed to meet unnecessarily strict evidentiary standards in order to speak with suspects, temporarily detain them, or interdict weapons,” Chairman Issa said.“ATF’s reliance on this advice from the U.S. Attorney’s Office during Fast and Furious resulted in many lost opportunities to interdict weapons.”

So even if the ATF wanted to do anything, they couldn’t because of Mr. Burke’s office. He held the cards for the entire operation.

Fast & Furious ended after the death of Agent Terry. Emails released January 2012 show direct contact between Mr. Burke and Attorney General Eric Holder’s Deputy Chief of Staff Monty Wilkinson. In one, Mr. Burke told Mr. Wilkinson the guns were linked to the investigation they were going to talk about. Mr. Wilkinson said he would call, but Mr. Burke claims he doesn’t remember a phone call.

A month later, Senator Charles Grassley started asking questions and demanded some answers. Sharyl Attkisson at CBS News revealed emails between officials in Washington and Mr. Burke’s office on how to handle the gunwalking allegations. Despite knowing he would be lying to Congress, Mr. Burke insisted they never intentionally allowed guns to walk. That became the message of the infamous February 4, 2011 letter.

As 2011 went on, more and more about Fast & Furious unraveled, but Mr. Burke couldn’t stop trying to wash his hands of any responsibility. In July, a reporter asked the Oversight Committee about leaked documents about whistleblower John Dodson. Chairman Issa asked Mr. Burke about this, and he claims a reporter did contact him whom he thought had not seen the documents. But then Mr. Burke emailed a friend of his in Washington, who then printed out the documents and handed them to the reporter personally. No one believed this testimony and knew Mr. Burke was the one who leaked them in July.

Though his fingerprints were all over Fast & Furious, Mr. Burke was allowed to quietly resign in August 2011. He wasn’t fired or charged with anything. In fact, there is no mention of Fast & Furious or Agent Terry in his resignation letter.

In November, Mr. Burke finally came clean and admitted he leaked the documents to smear Agent Dodson. The memo was intended to cast a bad light on Agent Dodson and discredit him as a reliable witness.

A month later, the February 4 letter was officially withdrawn once the DOJ couldn’t deny the fact that the ATF did intentionally allow guns to walk. No one knows for sure why they did it. Several emails show discussions about gun control regulations.

Given Mr. Burke’s history, would it come to a surprise to anyone if gun control was the main purpose of Fast & Furious?
