Banks are Caving to AOC’s Idiocy

from the American Spectator:

Big Banks Cave to Pressure From AOC

SunTrust, a bank holding company centered in the southeastern U.S., announced on Monday that it will terminate its business relationship with CoreCivic, a leading American private prison and detention center company. The announcement was accompanied by a statement claiming that SunTrust’s decision was “made after extensive consideration of the views of our stakeholders on this deeply complex issue.”

SunTrust is the fourth major bank to exit the private corrections industry, following Bank of America in late June and JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo in March. These U.S. financial institutions ignore their contractual obligations in favor of tailoring their business dealings to the whims of progressives in Congress.

What’s Good for the Prez, is Good for the Radical

A three judge panel of the 2nd district Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that President Trump cannot block his Twitter followers just because they post critical or divisive comments. I agree. The president uses his @RealDonaldTrump account for public and policy statements – not just for personal issues as a private citizen. As he uses this public forum for government business, blocking the public would be in violation of the followers’ First Amendment rights.

That being “settled,” it will be interesting if leftist radical Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is treated the same, as a lawsuit was recently filed to force AOC to unblock those who have been critical of her.

Republicans Need to Engage in the Healthcare Debate

from the American Spectator:

Nurse AOC Gets to Pick Democrats’ Presidential Winners and Losers

Healthcare remains the number one issue and again Republicans aren’t in the game.

Medicare for All may sound good,” John Delaney, a former Maryland congressman running for president, told the California Democratic Convention, “but it’s actually not good policy, nor is it good politics.”

The crowd booed, lengthily and lustily, as they had booed former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper for informing them that “socialism is not the answer.”

The enfant terrible of the Democratic Party quickly responded through the medium preferred by enfants terrible. read more

Tone Deaf AOC Fights for $15 Minimum Wage

from the Washington Free Beacon:

AOC to Bartend for a Day to Advocate Policies That Closed Former Employer

New York City’s increased minimum wage drove AOC’s former employer out of business

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D, N.Y.) is set to bartend again for a day to advocate for policies that led to one of her former employers shutting down its business.

The freshman congresswoman will return to her district in New York City this Friday to “pour a few pints” and push for the federal Raise the Wage Act while showing support for “abolishing below-minimum wage” for tipped workers in the state, the New York Daily News reports.  The exact location of the event, which was organized by the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United, a New York-based nonprofit that advocates for increased pay through its ONE FAIR WAGE campaign, will be announced later. read more

Video Podcast – A Border Cable – Green is the New Red Deal

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

A Texas Republican Congressman, Will Hurd, has an idea to run fiber optic cable from one end of the country to the other, under ground, to detect people crossing our border illegally. This is in lieu of, or instead of a border wall.

Great plan. The cable won’t stop anyone from crossing, but will simply alert border patrol that someone, or group of someones has.

The “Green New Deal” that AOC and others have proposed is nothing more than a new communist manifesto. It’s not Democratic or any other kind of socialism. It’s straight-up communism. And what does their economic program have to do with global warming? Absolutely nothing. read more

Another Gem of Wisdom from Ocasio-Cortez

For the longest time I thought Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), or maybe Hank Johnson (D-GA) were the dumbest people in Congress. I starting to rethink that position the more Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez opens her mouth, and she’s not even in Congress yet. Here’s another gem.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatens to run for president, severely misquotes the Constitution

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) threatened to run for president last week, severely misquoting the United States Constitution in the process.

Podcast – Money in Politics – Think Progress and Congressional Orientation

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

ThinkProgress wrote an article regarding the corrupting influence of money in Washington D.C. In the article they included thoughts by incoming democrat congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as well as a few other democratic socialists.

She expressed her displeasure with the freshman orientation being run by corporate lobbyists. I agree. But she and her fellow socialists thought they should also have heard from labor leaders and activists. I don’t agree.

I share my thoughts on the article, Ms. Cortez and corruption in Washington. read more

Is Their Room in Congress for Another Clueless Socialist?

What are they teaching the students at Boston University?

from the American Spectator:

Since her surprise primary victory over 10-term Congressman Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th District, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been promoted by the legacy media as the prototype of a new generation of young progressives destined to replace the leadership of the Democratic Party. Unfortunately for her media boosters, however, she keeps blowing her lines. It’s not just her rote advocacy of single-payer healthcare and guaranteed government jobs, or even that she backs wacky ideas like abolishing ICE and occupying airports — Ocasio-Cortez is genuinely clueless. She outed herself, in several recent interviews, as functionally illiterate in economics, international relations, and history. read more

Wealthy Socialists can Thank Capitalism

On this episode of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Socialist,” Stu Burguiere of the Glenn Beck show highlights two of today’s most popular democrats. Stu explains that both Bernie Sanders and the latest star of the Party, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have only capitalism to thank for their success. What they’ve achieved could not occur under the socialist or communist systems they claim to love.
