Podcast – Al Qaeda is on the Rise Again

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

What a shocker – not that they ever really went anywhere, but Al Qaeda is on the rise again, to once again be the dominate terror network it once was. And Osama bin Laden’s youngest son, Hamza bin Laden, has been groomed for years to take over as leader of the terror network. Hamza has vowed revenge for the death of his father.

Again, what a shocker. Just like the script of some action movie.

Over the past several years al Qaeda had been little discussed and appeared to shrink from the public eye. Yet they were smart about rebuilding after the death of their leader at the hands of our Tier One Naval Special Operators in 2011. Or maybe they just got lucky that ISIS formed when they did, and filled the void they temporarily left behind.

While all eyes, guns, and press attention were trained on ISIS, al Qaeda was able to regroup and rebuild outside the spotlight.

Close Gitmo – Leave It Open – It’s All the Same to Terrorists

by: the Common Constitutionalist

For years the refrain we’ve been hearing from the left has been to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Of course Gitmo isn’t just a prison – it’s a major military operational hub for the Caribbean theater, Central and South America. And frankly I’m not sure whether the left wishes to just close the prison or the entire base, which would be a huge mistake, but that’s a conversation for another time.

Those on the right have fought for it to remain open, arguing that we need some place to house these enemy combatants being that they are not conventional prisoners of war. The other argument is that we must have a facility, which is not on American soil, so as to not grant these dirtbags any civil or Constitutional rights and the fear is that once they plant their feet on American soil they must be treated like any other criminal.

I will not discuss the Constitutionality of the prison, the detention of “combatants” or of the “War on Terror” here. These are not the points of this article.

The left wants Gitmo closed, pure and simple. They care nothing for the potential ramifications of “freeing” the former and would-be-again terrorists. They just want it closed because they do. read more

Podcast – The Kickoff of the Jihad Olympics – Is Obama House Hunting in DC

In this episode, I discuss the two recent terror attacks by ISIS and al-Qaeda in Paris and Mali respectively. Yes, it’s the Jihad Olympics and the two major competitors are the aforementioned ISIS and a resurging al-Qaeda, both vying for the Gold Medal. A Gold Medal performance will be determined by the severity of attacks on the United States – Silver for Europe and other Western nations and Bronze for less significant targets. This competition between the two terror groups may get ugly and that’s bad news for the rest of us.

And, are the Obamas house hunting in Washington D.C. yet? While most presidents happily sail off into the sunset to lead lives of relative anonymity, this president will remain in D.C. to agitate against the next Executive. It’s what he was trained to do and neither he, nor the media will sit by quietly and let his successor undo any of his disastrous policies or Executive Orders. read more

Another Suspected Terrorist Is Freed

by: the Common Constitutionalist

After 13 years in captivity, the last Briton has been freed from Guantánamo Bay. Shaker Aamer has been held at Gitmo since 2002. He was captured in Afghanistan in 2001 shortly after the 9/11 attacks, where he claims he was a simply there doing charity work.

He was accused of aiding Al Qaeda, was handed over to U.S. Forces in February of 2002 and transferred to Gitmo. Now he has been freed and arrived back on British soil yesterday.

For his incarceration, the British government is expected to compensate him to the tune of about 1,000,000 pounds, approximately $1.5 million – provided of course by the British taxpayer. There are no reports, at least that I can find, explaining why the 46-year-old Aamer is being compensated by the British government. It appears they had nothing to do with his capture or incarceration. Reports only conclude that this is the approximate amount that others before him have received.

Interestingly, Mr. Aamer is not a British citizen. He’s Saudi Arabian, who happened to reside in London, with his wife and four children, prior to his “charity” work in Afghanistan. The “charity” work he was doing over there was never disclosed, although he was originally accused of having links to Al Qaeda and in his files he is described as having been a “close associate of Osama bin Laden” who fought in the battle of Tora Bora. He was suspected of leading a unit of fighters in the country, for which his family was said to have been regularly paid by Osama bin Laden. But I’m sure he was just an innocent charity worker caught up in all the confusion – the fog of war and all. read more

Will ISIS Form the World’s First Terror State?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

So what was that refrain again? Bin Laden is dead. Al-Qaeda has been decimated and is on the run. Does that mean we are safer now?

Not hardly. Terrorism is expanding rapidly and terrorist controlled areas are growing ever larger as they see weakness in the West and the impotence of president Obama.

Islamic radicals are expanding their reach and influence with abandon, leaving a wake of death and destruction wherever they go.

Nigeria, the Sudan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, China, Lebanon, Central African Republic, Libya, Syria and of course Iraq have seen terrorist attacks just in the past few weeks.

By far the West’s, and particularly our greatest worry in America, must be ISIS. In a short period of time, their ranks have swelled from those 1300 fighters who took Mosul to between 10 and 15,000. read more

America’s Foreign/Military Policy Doctrine

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Last week Mark Levin spoke on his radio show about foreign policy – in light of the whole Iraq mess resurfacing.

Actually Iraq never went away. Do we really think ISIS just coincidentally attacked now?

It’s not as if the terrorist gang was just formed yesterday. They’ve been around since 2006. ISIS was actually formed by the unification of three separate terror groups – Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s al-Qaeda faction, the Mujahedeen Shura Council in Iraq and the Jund al-Shahhaba (the soldiers of the Prophet’s companions).

After America vacated the area, they organized and moved in to fill the void that we left.

Mark asked the question: “What is the United States going to do about things like this – nothing? Will we pick a side? Should we pick a side, or will we just stand on the sidelines and watch?

He asked on what our foreign policy/military policy should be based? What is the doctrine we should follow, or is there simply no doctrine? read more

Guess Who’s Crossing the Border?

by: the Common Constitutionalist

By now, most of us on this side of the pen, or the display, or the microphone, have written or spoken of the Mexican-American border problem.

With thousands upon thousands of “children” crossing every week, it would seem that our southern border is wide open. Thanks to our president, the border patrol and other authorities are overwhelmed, leaving little if any man power to patrol.

So, who else might be taking advantage of the Southern sieve? It certainly wouldn’t be radical Islamic terrorists, would it?

Now, we commentators have also written and spoken extensively of the Cloward and Piven strategy – a strategy to purposely overwhelm the system to the point of collapse. We have postulated that this is exactly what Obama is doing at our southern border.

I believe this to be true. But I also contend that this strategy may have dire consequences beyond just the illegal immigrant flood.

Already these illegals are being shipped all over the country to take up residence at military bases – Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, California, and even Massachusetts. And these are the ones that we know of. No doubt the list of states will grow as more and more enter. read more

Obama Released Worst Terrorist Yet

by: the Common Constitutionalist

What did we hear for so many years during the Bush administration? Our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan would create terrorism. Bush’s wars would cause more danger in the world.

Well, evidently letting terrorists walk free is far worse than fighting and killing them.

The UK Daily Mail reports that, “The United States once had Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi (his friends call him Bag-Daddy…Yo) in custody at a detention facility in Iraq, but president Barack Obama let him go, it was revealed on Friday.”

al Baghdadi was among the prisoners released in 2009 from the U.S.’s now-closed Camp Bucca near Umm Qasr in Iraq.

Naturally it would be against Obama’s brilliant foreign policy to simply transfer some of the worst to Club Gitmo where he could have all the comforts of home. Actually, I’m quite sure the “detainees” have never had it as well as they have at Gitmo.

Is this what we have to look forward to with the release of the five radical Islamists Obama just “traded” away – five more ruthless, bloodthirsty, would-be extremist leaders? Remember the five he released were not no-nothing foot soldiers. These were part of the al-Qaeda brain trust.

But now, five years later Bag-Daddy is leading an army of ruthless extremists bearing down on Baghdad who want to turn the country into an Islamist state by blazing a bloody trail through towns and cities, executing Iraqi soldiers, beheading police officers and gunning down innocent civilians.

And as for the five year mark – no one really knows. No intelligence agency can determine when he became part of ISIS. Upon his release, did he just step into the role? Who knows? read more

Code Name: Johnny Walker

Jim DeFelice co-wrote the memoir of an Iraqi Muslim who worked with the Navy SEALs to find insurgents.  The book, Code Name: Johnny Walker, offers a unique perspective, showing how some Muslims will not remain silent against terrorism.  Johnny became the SEALs’ most trusted terp (interpreter), willing to sacrifice everything in an effort to improve his country and keep his SEAL brothers safe.  The book provides insight into what it was like to be an Iraqi working with Americans and how costly it was to him and his family.  American Thinker had the privilege of interviewing DeFelice and Johnny about the War in Iraq. read more

al Qaeda’s First U.S. Cell

from The Clarion Project:

At least a dozen terror-linked individuals have been tied to the Islamic Center of Tucson (ICT). The mosque and the state of Arizona are mentioned 59 times in the 9/11 Commission Report.[1] The mosque is considered to be “basically the first cell of al Qaeda in the United States.”[2]

The mosque also has significant links to the Muslim Brotherhood
