History Doesn’t Support Cuomo

The political world is still buzzing over the incendiary comments New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo made regarding his views on Republicans, more specifically, conservatives.

Even dyed in the wool New Yorker Sean Hannity said he would make plans to leave his state. Something I thought he would never do or even say. Good for Sean.

Now I don’t know if Cuomo really believes the things he said or whether he simply sees the final transformation of the Democratic Party into the Communist Party via New York City Mayor DeBlasio? It may be a calculated attempt to shift way left. Who knows – who cares. He said what he said and there’s really no walking it back.

It’s funny though, with all the problems plaguing his state and the country, he and the rest of the leftists insist on blaming conservatives for ruining the country. We are why the country is falling apart. It certainly couldn’t be the combination of almost 200 years of rotten, fascist, racist Democrat policies. Whatever do I mean, you ask?

I mean just this. Look back in history and be reminded that virtually every bad policy, every ruinous decision, every unconstitutional law or mandate was the handiwork of a Democrat.

Look back at the “father” of the Democrat party, King Andrew Jackson. Oh yes, Obama isn’t the first president who fancied himself a monarch. Jackson was also quite often called a dictator. He believed in “Manifest Destiny”, the evil opposite of “Divine Providence”. He pushed for and got past his “Indian removal act”, or ethnic cleansing act, which basically led to the extermination and/or removal of all Indian tribes east of the Mississippi. That, of course, led to the infamous “Trail of Tears” march, thanks to the next Democrat up and hand-picked Jackson successor, Martin Van Buren. In 1839 Van Buren also allowed for the near extermination of the Mormons in Missouri. It was called the “Mormon War” and Van Buren just allowed it to happen due to his fear of losing votes in Missouri. That’s character, eh?

Next up is Woodrow Wilson and until recently I considered him to be the worst, most evil president in American history. I predict Obama will surpass him or maybe it will be a number 1 and 1A thing.

Wilson was a vile racist, a fascist, a eugenicist. A historian wrote that he, “love, craved and in a sense, glorified power”. Sound like somebody we know?

He brought us the income tax. He flung us headlong into World War I to satisfy his own warped, selfish need for power. He re-segregated the American military. He imprisoned American citizens and journalists. He gave us the United Nations with his “League of Nations”. One can fill a book, and have, with the harmful policies derived during Wilson’s administration.

Next up – Franklin Roosevelt – God of the left. Where to begin with him? Roosevelt gave us the “New Deal”, which we are still paying for. He turned a worldwide depression into a uniquely American “Great Depression”. He put forth the socialist dream “Second Bill of Rights”. He imprisoned hundreds of thousands of Americans of Japanese German and Italian descent. Even many Democrats realized he had to go prior to his death. It was because of Roosevelt that both Democrats and Republicans passed the 22nd Amendment limiting the president to two terms.

And then there was Lyndon Baines Johnson. Ah…LBJ – Father of the modern day radical leftist. He gave us the “Great Society”. It marked the beginning of the end of personal responsibility, freedom and liberty and the dawn of the entitlement society. It was he who actually began the slow ruination of American healthcare with Medicare and Medicaid.

After LBJ and other than Reagan, virtually all modern-day presidents have been, to some degree, progressives. Whether on a bullet train or a slow roll, they have all worsened and weakened the American experience, possibly to the point of no return.

So when Andrew Cuomo says idiotic things about conservatives being the problem, he had best go back and review history.

  1. I’m glad you included progressives at the end. The Democrats you cite were all progressives as well as Democrats but the progressive Republicans did more harm in some ways by removing the hope for a different policy direction. Even Reagan went along with amnesty because he thought he could negotiate with progressives and they would be honorable. Because of Republican progressives we have mostly had progressive and progressive lite…same policies, just more slowly grown. Though the Dem progs were robustly bad, demonstrating the worst of socialist policies as seen in total tyrannies. The Republican progressives–like now–try to “fix” very bad policy instead of throwing it out like rotten garbage and following good policy by doing as little as possible, only what is NECESSARY.

I believe in American Exceptualism. Unfortunately, one thing Americans seem to do exceptually well is go too far. Take a good idea and drive it into the deepest ditch we can find. Lincoln’s increase of centralized federal power (at the expense of some states’ rights) wasn’t an entirely bad idea. For national security reasons in an increasingly dangerous world, that is necessary…but we went too far. Way too far. The richest country in the world should make sure those of us truly in need of help should be helped with some assurances…but we’ve gone far too far. Our “help” has become a black hole sucking the opportunities and will out of increasing numbers…creating the “need” we claim to be meeting. In fact it seems that has become the main role of federal government–create the problem then offer to “fix” it thereby creating a bigger problem.

Seems that we’ve reached the point where the top progressive, with his “pen and phone” have institutionalized lawless, Unconstitutional, anti-liberty actions. It’s had the effect of emboldening other would-be “kings” among us like Cuomo. They’re coming out of the woodwork and banding together like packs of feral dogs, giving us such gems as Obama-doesn’t-care, idiotic and unnecessary gun control laws, etc. They are now more visibly “governing against the will of the people”. What remains to be seen is if there are enough of “the people” remaining free of will to replace sufficient numbers of progressives in power positions to reverse the trends.

    • What a great reply! It was one of the best I have read. Maybe you should consider writing for some of the conservative blogs! I agree with everything you so eloquently said. The leftists have been waging a war against the freedoms of the American people for a very long time. Their infiltrating the schools was a stroke of genius, albeit an evil one. We send our children off to school, trusting that they will learn the true history of this great country, but what they learn is Howard Zinn-inspired garbage about how evil this country has been since that “awful conqueror” Columbus “brutalized” the peaceful Indians, and on and on, up to the present. They learn that “evil” southerners captured Blacks and made them slaves. What they don’t learn is that Muslims and other Blacks rounded up rival tribes and sold them to northerners in exchange for rum. The northerners then withheld any machinery that could be used by the southerners to process their cotton, forcing them to sell their raw cotton to the northerners, who then made the bulk of the profit, which made the southerners dependent on the slaves for their livelihood, similar to the welfare that the democrats use to keep modern-day poor people, in a sense, enslaved to the government. The fact that we are the only nation that rebuilds the land and economy of our enemy of the war we just fought is conveniently overlooked, as is the fact that we are really the only country that gives foreign aid, and are always there to help others in their times of need. There is essentially no freedom that they have not encroached upon. The sad part about it all is that the vast majority of their base have no idea of the damage that they are inflicting. The expression “killing with kindness” comes to mind.

      • Thank you, Bob, for the back pat. What you say is also part of the morass of problems progressive policies have wrought. Ignorance, it is said, is bliss. I suppose in some ways that’s true. But ignorance is certainly one of the best states of being for the masses in a tyranny–for the tyrant. Or a tyranny-to-be. Progressives, though they tend to be greedy and often shortsighted individuals, have had behind the scenes puppet masters who play the long game. Hitler’s propaganda head got his best ideas from an American progressive. And eugenics was born HERE. Black slavery was born in Africa as one tribe enslaved others, their enemies-then sold them to Europeans. The first slave owner in Mass was a black man who was given “possession” of another man by the magistrate in court! Education of the youth has been transformed from teaching kids how to think (for themselves) into teaching them WHAT to think, political correctness. They won’t be able to avoid repeating the worst mistakes of history since they haven’t heard about them in their rewritten versions. To show just how convoluted it can get, even John McCain got this one correct–choice and competition in education. Poor John gets so little right anymore.

“Killing with kindness”…is still dead. I prefer “tough love”. It’s taught men HOW to fish and keep eating, women HOW to stand tall instead of grovel, kids HOW to lose and learn from the loss…then succeed.

In line with your comment, this from a friend seems to fit: A “Liberal Paradise” would be a place where everybody has guaranteed employment, free comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free housing, free clothing, free utilities, and only Law Enforcement has guns. And believe it or not, such a place does indeed exist .. It’s called prison.

  2. Most liberals/progressives either don’t know their history, don’t care about it,or seek to revise it to suit their agenda.i really have found this to be so among my friends who are liberals. It’s tragic and detrimental for all of us when people don’t have a clue about the history of this country.part of the progressive master plan,I’m sure.
    P.s. Missouri/ Morman conflict was in 1839, not 1889.

    • You’re right. Most don’t know and the ones that do,don’t care. I know it was 1839. Did I write 1889? Crap! I’ll change it.

  3. I have no qualms with what you have written regarding these people. But in one instance, I think sometimes we need to look across the board. No fan of Jackson, yet he had his positive side in that he rid the country of the damn able fed – like 2nd national bank.
