You know how we always hear news people describe someone as the alleged or suspected killer, not just a killer who murdered X number of people, or whatever.
It’s because there is supposed to be an assumption of innocent, lacking any evidence and due process.
Well, in Iceland, a murder on a massive scale took place and the funeral service was just held recently. The service was held for the victim, “the once huge Okjokull (OK) glacier.” The glacier perished some five years ago, in 2014, yet it’s taken all this time to decide to hold a funeral? Better late than never, I guess. As the old saying goes: It ain’t getting any deader!
I’d like to say, after all this time, a suspect is in custody. But no one is using the term suspect. Rather, the environmentalists and virtue signaling hangers-on that attended the service know full well who perpetrated this act. They aren’t using the terms suspected or alleged. Oh no – the perp has been tried and convicted in the world environmental court.
The murderer is of course … Global Warming, or Climate Change.
Yes, there’s no need for due process – no need for any real science or empirical evidence whatsoever. Environmentalists know Climate Change killed this poor innocent glacier. Case closed.
And anyone who disagrees, or who may posit another theory, or actually facts, is just a denier, in the back pocket of Big Carbon.
They commemorated the victim glacier with a plaque that reads: “In the next 200 years all our glaciers are expected to follow the same path. This monument is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it.”
“Around 100 people walked up the mountain for the ceremony, including Iceland’s prime minister, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, the former UN human rights commissioner Mary Robinson, and local researchers and colleagues from the United States who pioneered the commemoration project,” writes the Guardian.
The only thing lacking on this accusatory plaque is an arrow pointing in the direction of the United States.
However, there’s an ever-so slight problem with their settled science that global warming killed the glacier. The “OK” glacier sat atop a volcano couldn’t have had anything to do with its melting. No – it was definitely man-caused.
But the enviro-weenies may be right about one thing. All Iceland’s glaciers may indeed disappear, as evidenced by another glacier that’s biting the dust this year.
The Vatnajökull glacier is also in danger. Unfortunately for the climate change alarmists, it too has been perched on a volcano.
“Fifty-metre [164 ft] high cliffs have emerged to the west of Grímsvötn volcano in southeast Iceland after having been covered by the Vatnajökull glacier for fifty years,” writes Iceland Review.com.
And to throw more cold water on the environmentalist theory – check that – settled science, “Geophysicist Magnús Tumi Guðmundsson says that increased volcanic activity and geothermal heat, not climate change, are responsible for the glacial melt that has recently uncovered the towering rock walls.”
However, I’m sure if we looked into Magnús’s past, we’ll probably discover that he is a covert agent in the employ of Exxon Mobil, or maybe working for Trump in some capacity. That must be it, because no real scientist would think that a volcano could melt a glacier. That’s preposterous!
The only deniers of science – real science that is – are these global warming alarmists and their stenographers in the media, like the leftist Guardian.
