This is from a portion of a Washington Examiner article.
My humble commentary is indented and italicized.
It’s entitled:
Andrew Cuomo labels coronavirus the ‘European virus’ in latest press briefing
During a press conference Monday, the Democratic governor addressed how coronavirus cases in the state are on a downward trajectory before labeling the virus as having originated in Europe rather than China.
“New York, the cases are now on the decline. You look at the rest of the nation outside of New York, the cases are still on the incline. We took the worst situation in the nation and changed the trajectory. So, now we are on the decline. The rest of the nation, the cases are still on the incline. That is because of what the people in this state did,” he said.
No governor – that is what you ordered people to do. And although you have begun to ease the lockdown, the State is nowhere close to being “open.” And New York City is still locked down.
So while the number of confirmed cases is presently down, what you have to look forward to is likely a huge spike when people start to emerge from their caves.
Fact is, there was never any need to close the whole State. But that’s what all governments do – one size fits all solutions. And what politicians do is kick the can down the road. Put if off until later and hope by then you can find someone else to blame for your spineless lack of leadership.
“If you had said when we started this, yes we have more cases than anyone else, yes we had this European virus attack us and nobody expected it, but we are not only going to change our trajectory, we’re going to change the trajectory more dramatically than anyplace else in the nation,” he added.
Well this is absurd, bordering on lunacy. Yes, a lot of people came to New York from China, via Europe, but the virus still originated in China. This is just politically correct pandering of the highest order. It’s pathetic.
Trump said earlier this year he would move away from using the phrase “Chinese virus” after receiving pushback over claims it was racially insensitive.
Of course anyone with common sense would know that “Chinese” is not a race, but a nationality.
“It came from China. … I don’t regret it,” he said. “Everyone knows it came out of China, but I decided we shouldn’t make any more of a big deal out of it. I think I made a big deal. I think people understand it.”
Yep, he said that. But then everyone from the WHO to the NBA came out in vociferous defense of China, of Xi Jinping and the commie government who is funding all these shills.
And that’s when Trump decided – the hell with this. Xia’s government didn’t do anything stop the spread to other countries – so Trump went back after them.
And he has every right and frankly an obligation to call them out and call this what it is.
He, Trump, also condemned people blaming Asian Americans for the pandemic at its onset, tweeting in March: “It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States, and all around the world. They are amazing people, and the spreading of the Virus is NOT their fault in any way, shape, or form. They are working closely with us to get rid of it. WE WILL PREVAIL TOGETHER!”
And that’s the point. Trump has never blamed “Asian Americans,” which last I checked are actually just “Americans – nor the Chinese people.”
He’s is laying blame squarely at the feet of where it belongs – the crappy, lying, cheating, communist Chinese government and supreme leader Xi.
