Latest Signings & Moves

So whiny Braylon Edwards lands in San Fran. I doubt he’ll be a positive. Jets didn’t think you were all that & a bag of chips. I believe they’re right. Bo Scaife of Tennessee hasn’t signed with anyone yet. He’ll visit the Bengals & Rams. Why would anyone want to go to the Bengals? Kevin Boss, TE for the Giants will work out for the Raiders. Giants should have found a way to keep him. The Law Firm, aka BenJarvis Green-Ellis resigns with the Pats. We now have about 600 running backs. I’m surprised they brought back Sammy Morris. Pre-Season starts next week. Can’t wait although it may be ugly. I predict a lot of injuries this year due to lack of practice & conditioning time. All for now.

Look for the Union Label

Obama, Obama! I can hear it now. The adoring crowds chanting his name. He is one with them. He is fighting for them. I wonder how many of them were union folk? I wonder if said union folk knew that the big bash at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago was set up completely without union labor. I’m not saying this was Obama’s decision to make, I’m sure it wasn’t, but someone on his staff made it. I just thought it interesting.

Tiger’s Back (Again)

Tiger is back. He’s going to play the Bridgestone Invitational. When you decide to come back it might as well be a place that you’ve won a few times, I think 7 times. He’ll have a good friend of his on the bag, Byron Bell, for now. Rumors are he will team up with Tony Navarro eventually. Navarro is the recent ex-caddie of Adam Scott. Woods is currently ranked 28th in the world. That has to be killing him. I think he’ll do ok this weekend, but I predict it won’t last. If he does play the PGA, I don’t think he’ll be a factor. After that he’ll go down again with either injury or something else. We’ll see.

Base Line Budgeting

Here’s a quick scenario. This guy has a job (what’s that?). He works hard & is noticed by the boss. The boss comes to him & says he deserves a raise & he’ll make it happen within a few weeks. He is told the raise is expected to be 5%. That night he rushes home to tell his wife (or husband in some states) the good news. She says that 5% will sure come in handy. A few weeks pass & sure enough, he gets that raise. The boss, however, says he could only afford 3%. The guy is still thankful that he received a raise at all. He goes home & shows his wife his paycheck. The wife had already calculated & adjusted their budget for the increase. She takes one look at the check & exclaims, ” You got a 2% cut in your pay?”

That is base line budgeting & that is how our government calculates the budget every year. All departments get automatic increases. If they don’t increase by as much as originally intended, it’s a cut (usually draconian). So when you hear that they in Washington are going to cut the budget, you best believe it’s a lie. If you spend more than last year, you haven’t cut your budget.

Consider this

I’ve been in a discussion with some folks about, amongst other things, why the moslems hate us. What did we do to piss them off? Why do they hate Israel? Many have their theories, but the fact remains is they would love to bring us down & they want to destroy Israel, as Iran has just recently & rather plainly exclaimed. There’s no grey area there for Israel. I would like to pose a question to all who would think about it & answer honestly. No spin.

Here it is: Part 1: If all the neighbors of Israel would lay down their arms tomorrow (all the land disputes not withstanding), what would happen? I mean Hamas, The Brotherhood, everyone. Part 2: If Israel would lay down it’s arms tomorrow & tear down the walls, fences & open it’s borders, what would happen?

NFL Updates

So, sooprize sooprize, the Eagles get Asomugha. Bully for them. Looks like Asante Samuel will get the old heave ho. Where to? I would bet to Arizona. Seems like Philly & Arizona have become trading partners as of late.

I didn’t see this one comin. The Patriots release Defensive Lineman Ty Warren.

That’s it for now.

Easy Way to Cut the Budget

Government officials are always saying that they just can’t cut the budget. Politicians claim anyone that suggests it must be the devil, a racist, Hitler & so on. I’ve found a simple way to cut the budget tomorrow. Below is a list of government waste, fraud & abuse. Very simply, every department goes through an audit every year & money misspent gets deducted from the current operating budget & they don’t get it back. (No more base line budgeting crap). The list below, I bet, is hardly complete but it amounts to almost 100 billion dollars right off the top. Easy, right? If this money was wasted, they couldn’t have needed it.

■Agriculture: $4.3 billion in improper payments, or 5.9 percent of total department spending. Much of it was in the food stamp, federal crop insurance and school meals programs.
■Defense: $849 million, or 0.5 percent.
■Education: $599 million, or 2.1 percent.
■Health and Human Services: $55.1 billion, or 9.4 percent. That included improper payment rates of 7.8 percent and 15.4 percent in the Medicare fee for service and Advantage programs, respectively.
■Homeland Security: $644.5 million, or 3.7 percent. Much of it was in the Homeland Security grant program as well as Disaster Relief Fund Vendor Payments.
■Housing and Urban Development: $1 billion, or 3.5 percent. All of it was attributed to public housing and rental assistance.
■Labor: $12.3 billion, or 9.9 percent. Almost all of the improper payments were in the unemployment insurance program.
■Treasury: $12.3 billion, or 25.5 percent. All of it was attributed to improper payments in the earned income tax credit.
■Transportation: $1.5 billion, or 3 percent. Much of it was in the Federal Highway Administration planning and construction program.
■Veterans Affairs: $1.2 billion, or 2.7 percent. That included improper payments in the pension and other compensation programs.
■Social Security Administration: $8.0 billion, or 1.2 percent.

More NFL Updates

Reggie Bush goes to Miami. No big deal, in my opinion. I think he’s overrated.

Asomugha to the Texans. What happened to the Jets? I hope Houston can get this done. Don’t need another great corner to contend with in N.Y.

Steve Smith (WR) is staying in Carolina. No biggy.

Haynesworth to the Patriots! Where did this come from? After looking into the details, the Pats aren’t giving up much to try it. If he’s still a bum, he’ll be cut & we don’t lose much. If he decides to really play though, no offensive line will be able to handle him, Wilfork & Warren. The opponents whole offensive line will be consumed by those 3 leaving the backers almost completely free. That’s all for now.
