A physician at the mental hospital determined it was time to release his best patient. The young man had been in analysis for a decade.
The patients family showed up for the big day, blue skies and sunshine, smiles all around.
The mood was broken by the sound of a lady’s scream, “My birds have escaped, they’re in that tree.”
The physician pointed out the two parakeets sitting on a branch and told the young man to climb up and retrieve the birds for the lady.
The young man climbed the tree and brought down a yellow parakeet, handing it to the very appreciative, but also confused lady.
The physician praised the patient for bringing down the bird, then asked, “Why did you bring down the yellow bird while leaving the green bird in the tree”?
The young man said, “It wasn’t ripe yet!”
