While immeasurable numbers of our fellow citizens are suffering the ravages of Hurricane Harvey, tone-deaf leftists are celebrating the end of summer at the Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada.
The festival lasts for 10 days and runs through Labor Day. Oops – according to the website, it is not a festival, but a “community.” The irony is that as a literal wall of water was bearing down on Texas, a wildfire and dust storm almost canceled the non-festival festival.
Yet the self-indulgent set would not be deterred. They fought their way through and made it to Burning Man. Yay!
An estimated 70,000 leftist oddballs traveled, at great expense, to the Nevada desert, where they, from everything I’ve seen and heard, have given little to no thought of the tragic events befalling the people of South Texas.
And why should they? They’re too busy living the 10 principles of Burning Man, which include radical inclusion, radical self-expression, civic responsibility and gifting. There’s some more irony for you.
While they are busy erecting elaborate structures to celebrate themselves and their “inclusiveness,” thousands in Texas, like a friend of mine, are forced to contemplate the horrible reality that their homes are completely destroyed and may have to be torn down, due to extraordinary water damage.
