Was the Latest Cop Killing Caused by Black Lives Matter?

A portion of my Sunday podcast was dedicated to a shooting that happened in Harris County Texas. Over the weekend an unidentified black man approached a white Harris County deputy from behind while the officer was pumping gas, and gunned him down execution style.

The man didn’t just gun down the officer. Evidently, as the 47-year-old father of two lay on the ground, the assailant just kept shooting him. Very little was known about the black man when I recorded my podcast.

That was then – this is now. Since then, the police were able to find the red Ford Ranger the man drove to getaway, stupidly part in his own driveway, less than a mile away. But we all know criminals aren’t geniuses.

Police arrested the man, 30-year-old Shannon J Miles, and charged him with capital murder. The Houston Chronicle reports that Miles had a long criminal record, as he was arrested no less than seven times between 2005 and 2009.

His resume was found posted online where he “held a number of jobs, including a stint as a kitchen cook at Burger King and a host at Whataburger.”

The resume also included the fact that he attended Prairie View A&M University. Why is this important? Recall the “death of Sandra Bland, a 28-year-old African-American woman who died in a Waller County jail cell three days after being arrested during a traffic stop near Prairie View A&M University.” Actually, she didn’t just die – she killed herself – but hey – potato – potahto.

Police say, “Reaction from law enforcement to the deputies killing centered around growing hostility they said they are encountering from the public,” ever since that thug, Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson Missouri.

Now I wonder why this is. Could it be that the black man’s anger has been fomented by the charlatans of the “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) movement?

Well, an admittedly angry and frustrated Harris County Sheriff, Ron Hickman, feels it probably has something to do with it. He said: “Our system of justice absolutely requires law enforcement to be present to protect our community. So at any point where the rhetoric ramps up to the point where the calculated, cold-blooded assassination of police officers happens, this rhetoric has gotten out of control. We’ve heard black lives matter, all lives matter – well, cops’ lives matter too. What say we just drop the qualifier and say ‘lives matter.’”

It’s entirely possible and even probable that Miles was pushed over the edge by the hateful rhetoric of the BLM movement. Sandra Bland was arrested at Prairie View A&M were Miles attended, and being black, she became another cause célèbre of the movement.

There appears to be no other motive for this heinous crime. These two never seemed to cross paths. It seems as if an angry black man just got it into his head to kill a white cop and deputy Goforth happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And that’s the question which needs to be answered. Who put this thought in his head?
