To all my loyal readers – I’d like to apologize in advance. I, the Common Constitutionalist, sustained a sports-related injury yesterday.Turns out I’m not invincible after all. Who knew? I’ll tell you who knew. Everyone but me.
I won’t detail it, but it’s a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament or PCL. It’s the largest of four knee ligaments, and the least known. Anyone who follows sports, especially football, knows the other three – the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the medial collateral ligament (MCL) and lateral collateral ligament (LCL).
Suffice it to say, it sucks! There’s no sugar coating it. It’s caused me to adjust my whole outlook and frame of mind from: “Don’t worry – I got this,” to, “I need help – I ain’t got this.” The injury is just debilitating enough to require me to continually ask for assistance. I don’t do well in that department – having to depend on others to help with even the simplest tasks like carrying my coffee to my desk this morning because I can’t manage it with my crutches. It’s emasculating.
But still my sons and my girlfriend put up with my macho facade and continue to help. And I thank them for that. I’d be screwed without them.
The bottom line is that I will try my best to continue to bring original content to my site, but it won’t be easy. For the next few days I may just load stories that interest me from other sites. Hopefully by the weekend, I’ll be back and writing again.
Thanks for your patience and patronage.
