Last week I received an e-mail from my good [email protected] regarding Michael Bloomberg’s latest attempt at confiscating all our guns.
The e-mail blast said that Bloomberg will be spending $50 million on gun reform. Now since I don’t know what “gun reform” is I read on, asking myself whether I believe my guns needed reforming?
It turns out that the e-mail blast was not focused on Bloomberg’s efforts, but one of the many wack job organizations that he will be funding with his $50 million.
The organization, and particularly its founder, that MoveOn.org was focused on is “Moms Demand Action for Guns Sense in America” and its founder Shannon Watts.
MoveOn describes Ms. Watts as a supermom, who evidently has time for her five children and also to fight the evils of “gun violence”. They describe her as a force of nature communicator and the NRA’s worst nightmare. Ooh – scary!
The e-mail was actually to promote a podcast of an interview by MoveOn.org dimwit, Ben Wikler of Ms. Watts, their latest anti-gun hero.
Since it asked so nicely, I clicked on the link to listen to the interview.
Ms. Watts claimed she never considered being an anti-gun advocate until the Movie Theater shooting in Aurora Colorado. She claims her son was going to see the Batman movie and was afraid that everyone in the theater would be armed thus starting a chain of panic attacks. She claims she feared for her son – that a barrier of “safety” had been broken. She said that she had to take him to several therapy sessions to get him back to a place where he was not so fearful.
Let’s stop right here. Why in the world would a young boy, and I’m assuming he is a relatively young boy, believe that everyone in a movie theater would be armed and even more telling, that because they are armed, they are by default, dangerous.
This woman may never have been an official anti-gun activist but it sounds to me as if she has been effectively brainwashed by the anti-gun community by believing that all guns are scary and has passed on that ridiculous message to her children thus leaving them vulnerable to anti-gun propaganda. In my opinion that is simply bad parenting. Scaring your children about guns to the point where they can’t function is simply irresponsible, at best.
She said she began by creating a Facebook page and in a short period of time had thousands of likes by other brainwashed mothers who also believed something needed to be done to fight against “gun violence”.
I must give at least some kudos to the left for effectively instilling enough false fear in these mothers that they conclude that the only solution to gun violence is to limit and or confiscate weapons from the law-abiding. They appear to actually believe that if we just get rid of all guns, that will take care of the problem. They may not publicly admit it, and have probably been advised not to say so, but you know darn well that that’s what these mothers think.
Supposedly intelligent mothers like Shannon Watts do actually believe this nonsense. They actually believe that Nanny Bloomberg is financing anti-gun efforts to benefit her and her children.
Ms. Watts claims that the “gun lobby” has done a good job over the last 30 years of convincing people that their guns may be taken away, but, she says, moms are afraid, that without restrictions, their precious children will be “taken away”. In other words, we crazy gun owners will kill all their children. I’m not sure why we would do that, but she evidently believes it.
She said that when she began her crusade, she didn’t realize that the “Assault Weapons” ban had lapsed and that 40% of the people who buy guns do so without a background check.
Okay – first – she wouldn’t know an assault weapon from a toaster and I suppose if you get your information from Piers Morgan you might trust the background check claim, but it is a flat-out lie. However, the Bloombergs of the world know that this gullible mom will not check the claims validity and will take it as gospel, passing the lie on to other gullible moms. That’s the way it works.
She said they were gitty when her group received a call from the White House wanting to help. She was thrilled to become Obama’s face of the fight for “Gun Sense”.
She said that Sandy Hook was the “tipping point” for her to get involved. She doesn’t say, or maybe doesn’t know, that none of the anti-gun proposals would have prevented Sandy Hook.
But that’s not what this, or her involvement in it, is about. It’s about Goebbels style propaganda. It’s pure emotion and zero thought – zero logic. It’s about swine like Bloomberg using this woman for their ends.
Problem is – she doesn’t know it. She thinks, like Cindy Sheehan of George W. Bush ranch fame, that she is actually part of something. When, like Sheehan, she’s has exhausted her usefulness to the Marxist power brokers, she will be unceremoniously tossed aside, like Sheehan.
I can’t feel bad for her, but I do pity her children – growing up in a household of fear. She could never be convinced of it, but Ms. Watts is the one who drove her own child over the edge and forced him into therapy with her own irrational fears.
And that’s the real tragedy. Maybe there should be a law against that –scaring your children half to death.
