All Hail the Politically Correct Shopper

The gender-neutral campaign has been gaining momentum lately. Proclaiming yourself male or female will soon be added to the list of seven deadly sins, along with global warming denial and just being a conservative.

And now, is if I needed another reason not to shop at Target, they have bowed to politically correct pressure and have begun “phasing out gender-based signage in some departments.”

And all because two months ago, one woman, some liberal from Ohio, mother of three, Abi Bechtel, tweeted her disgust with a sign in her local Target store’s toy department that simply read: “Building Sets – Girls Building Sets.”

Bechtel posted a photo of the sign on Twitter and captioned it: “don’t do this, @Target.” Oh, she also said the sign was: “regressive and harmful.”

So now the brainiacs at Target stores will go through the trouble to change “gender signage,” all because one silly woman tweeted her dislike.

Of course CNN reported this as some sort of inspired civil rights victory. They wrote that, “Parents and gender equality advocates welcomed the news as a significant step with potential to inspire other retailers.” Hooray for “gender equality!”

Can someone please explain to me what gender equality is, and why these leftist women want to be men, or their equal, or something? Are these not the same women who spend most of their entire adult lives complaining how men have screwed up the world? And now they want there to be no distinction? That seems rather odd.

Anywho, blogger Melissa Atkins Wardy, who promotes gender-neutral products, in order to screw with the minds of impressionable young children, says that, “This change is a step towards removing gender limitations in childhood, but when one of the world’s largest retailers does this, the ripple effect will be significant.”

Again – what gender limitations? Girls have the same opportunities that guys have in America, save for peeing being standing up. Granted, that’s a biggie, but hey – give them time and they will force businesses to remove all the urinals too – because it’s just not fair.

Wardy also says that, “this change will play a role in shifting the way kids see themselves as consumers and will help to shift the way adults see the role of gender in childhood.”

No Ms. Wardy. It will confuse children and cause them to grow up to be angry leftist nanny-staters like you. And I apologize for calling you Ms. Is that regressive and harmful to your undoubtedly fragile psyche?

What this little incident has really done, is set up the very simple framework for any perpetually offended little statist want-to-be to demand change for anything. As long as they see how easy it is to get these corporations to kowtow to the left, it will continue, as demonstrated by Target’s pathetic response, which was: “We hear you, and we agree.” They also added that, “gender labels will remain on the children’s clothing section because of size differences.”

Well, they may as well just change those signs now, for it won’t be long before another campaign makes its way to Twitter, decrying the injustice of that signage.

Target has already surrendered the issue to the genderless left. They have to know it won’t just stop there. It never does. Not with the perpetually angry and aggrieved left.
