Video Podcast – After the Florida Shooting Comes the Borg – the Pennsylvania Election

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The aftermath of the Florida school shooting reveals the collective mindset of the left. In today’s podcast I liken them to the Borg collective, popularized in the series, Star Trek, The Next Generation.

I reveal the remarkable similarities of today’s radical leftists to the fictional Borg, where everyone thinks and acts the same – working in lock step to build a Utopian society.

I also discuss the winner (if it holds up) of the Pennsylvania special congressional election, Conor Lamb, who ran as a conservative, but will discover in short order, that he must become part of the leftist Washington collective to survive. read more

Video Podcast – Four Boxes of Liberty – School Shooting and Arming Teachers

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

I discuss the four boxes of liberty: Soap Box, Ballot Box, Jury Box and Ammo (Cartridge) Box, and why they are just as important as when first uttered by Frederick Douglass and Georgia Congressman Larry McDonald.

The latest legislative proposals after the aftermath of the Florida school shooting and why bad law and ineffective law is actually worse than no law at all.

Arming select teachers and school staff is still the best solution to deter school shootings, and that we never hear of all the schools that have been and are currently arming teachers. read more

Video Podcast – White House Immigration Framework is a Colossal Joke

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

What can be said about the White House Framework on Immigration Reform & Border Security. The only word I can think of is that it’s a travesty.

The framework is shaping up to be just another big government boondoggle devoid of conservative substance and replete with liberal giveaways.

The Framework, with its coddling of illegal aliens and reward of citizenship is, or should be, a personal affront to any American citizen, and especially to every legal immigrant. Most who spent years of time and much money to do it the right way.

I’m praying that I wake soon and realize this has all been a bad dream, because as it stands, it is merely a bad joke. read more

Video Podcast – The Shutdown – The Reality of Immigration – Democrat Infighting

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The dreaded government shutdown is upon us. Anyone notice? Not yet at least. But is the shutdown, that we well know is a mere slowdown, a real problem? Is it real or just imaginary? Is the angst everyone claims to be feeling over the shutdown psychosomatic – just a Pavlovian response?

Leftists in France are finding out first hand, the joys of being overrun with refugees and immigrants. Their quest for a truly diverse society that they so often claim to want is backfiring. The French are finding it difficult for their children to obtain a decent education, due to the sudden diverse nature of their schools.

The democrats may not have as easy a time in the mid-term elections as is being promoted by the left. Caustic infighting among the Hillary/Bernie factions continues to fracture the party. And it appears as if they will be hard-pressed to find common ground before November. Coupled with their hopeless lack of fundraising and it may be a recipe for disaster. read more

Video Podcast – Feelin the Republican Bern – Leftists took to Twitter

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Recently, a camera wielding interviewer took to the streets of New York City. There he founds liberals who were actually quite enamored with the new Republican Tax law.

How could this be you may ask? Easy – the roving conservative reporter presented the Republican plan as one authored by their hero Bernie Sanders. These leftists agreed with practically every proposal within the plan, when they thought it originated with Bernie.

Some radical leftists took to Twitter a few days ago to lament not just the Republican tax plan, but Louisiana Representative Steve Scalise’s help in passing it.

Recall that Scalise was the unfortunate soul gunned down by another unhinged Bernie supporter during a Congressional baseball earlier this year.

They tweeted that the shooter should have finished the job. read more

Video Podcast – Let’s Talk Taxes

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The Senate has now passed their version of Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The House has already passed their version. Now it’s on to joint committee to iron out the differences and vote. Then it’s off to the President’s desk for his signature.

Is the Senate version any good? That depends on you ask. But it’s an improvement over our current mess.

The only republican to vote against it was Bob Corker of Tennessee.

I’ll discuss the bill, what a phony Senator Corker is and my thoughts on the bill. I’ll also give my sales pitch for a different type of tax. read more

Video Podcast – The American Balancing Act Between Mob Rule and Despotism

As Thanksgiving is almost upon us, my Thanksgiving wish is travel back in time and thank the founders for giving us America. I’d let them know that their efforts were not in vain – that they did make a difference.

Sadly, despite their efforts, America as they envisioned can not be sustained for ever. Eventually even America will succumb to anarchy or totalitarian rule. Their goal was to maintain that delicate balance between the two.

But they knew, and as Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence, that eventually it will be our right, our duty, to throw off our Government and reset the system.

Video Podcast – Louis C.K. Admits Wrongdoing – Democracy on the Orville

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Comedian Louis C.K. did something not have. When presented with accusations of sexual misconduct and overall lewd behavior, he admitted that all the accusation were true. That’s astounding considering that the other Hollywood dirtbags are either denying or just running away. I explore this phenomenon.

A television program called the Orville is created, written and stars comedian Seth MacFarlane. It’s like Star Trek with some comedy. One episode was particularly fascinating as it dealt with democracy. Not democracy as many Americans think, but true democracy – as in mob rule. Only this time the mob all have smart phones. read more

You Don’t Need to Work to Make a Living

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Have you ever wondered why America’s unemployment rate is so low.

Over the years, I’ve gone through the various methods the government uses to calculate the employment, or unemployment rate – the different categories like U-3 vs. U-6 and so on. Knowing the particulars of each, we are effectively able to prove what are crock the published “U3” unemployment rate is and how useless and misleading the most often used U-3 number is..

Within the U3 category, the government differentiates between being unemployed and not working. Well, that’s easy, you may say. Maybe those in the “not working” category are the stay-at-home-Mom types. My apologies to stay-at-home Moms, but you know what I mean.

You may think that but you’d be incorrect. The “not working” category are those who are so discouraged that they just stopped looking. They are not counted as being unemployed. Of course they are, but not according to the government. It’s why the unemployment rate is so low. It’s a bogus, or at best, a misleading number – and purposely misleading.

Logically then, one may ask just how all these millions of people have been surviving for all this time – sometimes years to generations, without employment – without a paycheck?

Well, they may not be employed, but they sure receive a paycheck, of sorts, courtesy of you and me. In fact, in some States, families bring in more money through 126 government “entitlement” programs than they would earn if employed.

I’ve personally heard more than a few times from prospective employees, that, “I can make more money on government benefits than I can working for your company.” It’s called a perverse incentive, and boy is that right. As bad as this sounds, it’s actually worst than most people think.

In the video below, Michael Tanner, Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute, explains just how out-of-control the “entitlement” system in America has become.  read more
