Video Podcast – Let’s Talk National Emergencies

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

According to the Federal Register, 58 national emergencies have been declared since the National Emergency Act of 1976 was signed into law by President Gerald Ford.

And 31 have been annually renewed and are currently still in effect, as listed in the Federal Register.

I discuss the latest emergency act that president Trump recently declared, comparing it to others declared by four previous presidents. read more

Video Podcast Replay – A Personal Experience of Illegal Immigration

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, there will be no new podcast, Please accept my apologies.

But as the border and illegal immigration is still on everyone’s mind because of the dreaded shutdown, and rather than leave you with nothing, I’m offering up one more popular podcasts I recorded early last year.

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

I took a trip recently and experienced something astounding. While driving between two major Northeast cities I was scanning the FM radio dial. I noticed something rather odd.

First that there was literally no country stations within this metro corridor. And second, that it seemed that almost 50% of all the stations played Latin music and Spanish speaking DJ’s.

Then there was the rather lengthy commercial, where the two DJ’s described free legal services for illegal immigrants as well discussing their rights. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

Careful Democrats – You’re Hypocrisy is Showing

President Trump’s performance from the Oval Office on Tuesday was OK to good. It wasn’t great – it wasn’t Reganesque. Some might say he looked uncomfortable and wooden.

But that’s not Trump’s fault. This isn’t what he does. What he does well is play to the people.

The public is used to the boisterous Trump – animated, adlibbing at rallies and looking at home. Despite having years of experience as star of the Apprentice, he did not appear at ease in front of the lone camera.

However, he looked sincere, because he is sincere. For him, and us who support him, this has nothing at all to do with politics. This is about safety, security, fairness and the rule of law. Easily his best line of the night: “Some have suggested a barrier is immoral. But then why do politicians build walls, fences and gates around their homes? They don’t do it because they hate the people on the outside — they do it because they love the people on the inside.” read more

Video Podcast – Climate Change Collapsed an Empire – Democrat Amendments

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Akkadia was the world’s first empire.

It was established in Mesopotamia around 4,300 years ago after its ruler, Sargon of Akkad, united a series of independent city states.

Yet after just 100 years, the empire collapsed due to … Climate Change.

But when they tried to flee the empire they discovered their enemies to the South had built a border wall to keep them out.

Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee introduced two Constitutional Amendments after the dems took back the House.

The first is to limit the President’s Constitutional authority to grant pardons. Like everything for the next two years, it’s all to hamper Trump’s presidential powers.

The second is to abolish the Electoral College. Democrats wish elections of the President to be determined only by popular vote. read more

World War One Changed Everything

Major wars have a tendency to define, or redefine history. But Historian and author Andrew Roberts argues that there was no

There was Nothing Great About it!

more definitive than World War One. In the following Prager University video, Roberts explains, correctly in my opinion, that World War I forever changed the landscape around the world. It had as much of a negative impact as did the American Revolution had a positive – maybe more.

And it all began with the assassination of one man in 1914 – Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria,  presumptive heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and his wife Sophie. They were murdered by a Serbian nationalist. read more

Video Podcast – RINO Kasich and his Veto Pen

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Good news for guns rights advocates and citizens of the State of Ohio. Outgoing Governor John Kasich was unable to prevail as he vetoed a bill involving self-defense shootings.

The son-of-a-mailman vetoed House Bill HB 228. In short the bill allows self-defense shooters the right of being considered innocent until proven guilty. The Governor prefers it the other way – guilty until proven innocent.

Thankfully the House and Senate overrode his veto by a wide margin.

I also discuss two upcoming bills in Ohio to be voted on in 2019. The stand-your-ground bill and a red flag law.

Video Podcast – Politics vs. Humanity

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

**Update** It’s been brought to my attention that segment 2 of this podcast is grainy and out of focus. My efforts to rectify have been unsuccessful. I apologize.

This story isn’t political. Okay the first half is. The second half has no political message, just a human message.

Segment one is of a Costa Rican retreat where whites are not invited or admitted. The retreat is only for people of color to take a break from white people.

Segment two is a story of kindness, generosity and color-blindness. It is decided not political. The juxtaposition of the two is fascinating. read more

Video Podcast – George H W Bush – Porn in Prison – Stealing Elections in California

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

George H W Bush passed away a few days ago after living a full life and accomplishing much. But all that pales in comparison with the person that he was. By all measure, George Bush was a good man and that is far important than politics or accomplishment.

Is porn in prison a constitutional right? Well, 58 inmates at an Iowa prison seem to think so. They are suing the State for the right to continue to view pornography in private rooms set aside expressly for that purpose.

Stealing elections from Republicans is becoming commonplace in California. Republicans were leading, some by wide margins even a day after the polls closed. Yet all democrats in these contested districts magically came back to win every race. read more

Flecca Talks to Students about Ben Shapiro

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief, Ben Shapiro, last month spoke at University of Southern California (USC). Prior to his arrival, roving reporter/interviewer, Austen Fletcher of Fleccas Talks was on campus amidst the students protesting Shapiro.

He wanted to know what the students were protesting – what they thought of and knew of Shapiro, amongst other things.

To my surprise, some were actually conservative, well read and well-informed. They were there to engage in actual dialogue with anyone who would listen – anyone with an open mind that is. However, the overwhelming majority were just mindless clapping seals, chanting the gibberish they were to told to chant.

One of the more memorable imbecilic chants that Fletcher highlighted was, “Cops and Klan go hand in hand.” Fletcher approached a few of the “chanters” to question them on the logic of the screed. He told them to look around – that there were black cops, Asian cops, Hispanic cops. He asked: “Why would chant that? The cops are here [pointed to them]. Half of them are black.” read more

American Values Make us Great

In the following video, Dennis Prager discusses what is so unique about America. What is unique is that our nation, is that it is the only one founded on a set of values. He explains that these values are E Pluribus Unum, Liberty and In God We Trust.

This, he asserts, sets us apart from every other nation on Earth.
