Video Podcast – Let’s Talk Taxes

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

The Senate has now passed their version of Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The House has already passed their version. Now it’s on to joint committee to iron out the differences and vote. Then it’s off to the President’s desk for his signature.

Is the Senate version any good? That depends on you ask. But it’s an improvement over our current mess.

The only republican to vote against it was Bob Corker of Tennessee.

I’ll discuss the bill, what a phony Senator Corker is and my thoughts on the bill. I’ll also give my sales pitch for a different type of tax. read more

Video Podcast – The American Balancing Act Between Mob Rule and Despotism

As Thanksgiving is almost upon us, my Thanksgiving wish is travel back in time and thank the founders for giving us America. I’d let them know that their efforts were not in vain – that they did make a difference.

Sadly, despite their efforts, America as they envisioned can not be sustained for ever. Eventually even America will succumb to anarchy or totalitarian rule. Their goal was to maintain that delicate balance between the two.

But they knew, and as Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence, that eventually it will be our right, our duty, to throw off our Government and reset the system.

Video Podcast – Louis C.K. Admits Wrongdoing – Democracy on the Orville

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Comedian Louis C.K. did something not have. When presented with accusations of sexual misconduct and overall lewd behavior, he admitted that all the accusation were true. That’s astounding considering that the other Hollywood dirtbags are either denying or just running away. I explore this phenomenon.

A television program called the Orville is created, written and stars comedian Seth MacFarlane. It’s like Star Trek with some comedy. One episode was particularly fascinating as it dealt with democracy. Not democracy as many Americans think, but true democracy – as in mob rule. Only this time the mob all have smart phones. read more

You Don’t Need to Work to Make a Living

by: Brent Smith at the Common Constitutionalist

No Audio Version

Have you ever wondered why America’s unemployment rate is so low.

Over the years, I’ve gone through the various methods the government uses to calculate the employment, or unemployment rate – the different categories like U-3 vs. U-6 and so on. Knowing the particulars of each, we are effectively able to prove what are crock the published “U3” unemployment rate is and how useless and misleading the most often used U-3 number is..

Within the U3 category, the government differentiates between being unemployed and not working. Well, that’s easy, you may say. Maybe those in the “not working” category are the stay-at-home-Mom types. My apologies to stay-at-home Moms, but you know what I mean.

You may think that but you’d be incorrect. The “not working” category are those who are so discouraged that they just stopped looking. They are not counted as being unemployed. Of course they are, but not according to the government. It’s why the unemployment rate is so low. It’s a bogus, or at best, a misleading number – and purposely misleading.

Logically then, one may ask just how all these millions of people have been surviving for all this time – sometimes years to generations, without employment – without a paycheck?

Well, they may not be employed, but they sure receive a paycheck, of sorts, courtesy of you and me. In fact, in some States, families bring in more money through 126 government “entitlement” programs than they would earn if employed.

I’ve personally heard more than a few times from prospective employees, that, “I can make more money on government benefits than I can working for your company.” It’s called a perverse incentive, and boy is that right. As bad as this sounds, it’s actually worst than most people think.

In the video below, Michael Tanner, Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute, explains just how out-of-control the “entitlement” system in America has become.  read more

Video Podcast – Tom Perez – Graduate of Harvard LIE School

by: Brent Smith at The Common Constitutionalist

I would first like apologize for some wind noise that interfered with the podcast. It is only sporadic, but it does happen out on location.

DNC Chairman Tom Perez, graduate of Harvard Law School, claimed that the Electoral College, which elects the President, is somehow not in the Constitution.

Perez is too smart and well schooled for this to be a misstatement. Therefore, he lied.

Today, I discuss his lie, why he lied, and why the Electoral process is so important. read more

Video Podcast – The Pine Tree Riot Kicked off a Revolution

Today, I traveled to a remote location of incredible and historic importance – despite few knowing of its history. It was the site of what is referred to as the Pine Tree Riot. It took place only miles up the road from my home in New Hampshire. If you are a Revolutionary War buff, New England is good place to be.

My journey took me to three places – Mast Road, Clements Mill and Quimby’s Inn. All are significant to the story.

To my knowledge, the Pine Tree Riot is first armed insurrection against the crown of England, and I ended up right where it took place. Pretty Cool!! read more

Video Podcast – Thank You for Flying ICE Air

Just how are illegal immigrants deported anyway? It turns out there a few ways. One is to hoof-it back across the border from whence they came. Another is a chartered bus that our benevolent federal government provides, and a third is by aircraft.

They call it ICE-Air, owing to the fact that the aircraft is provided by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. They charter many flights a year to ferry illegals back to their homeland where they belong – because they certainly don’t belong here in America.

Today I discuss ICE-Air, how it works and maybe an idea or two on improving the system of deportation. read more

If You Don’t Blame Guns You Want People to Die

We don’t even have a full accounting of what happened in Las Vegas, or even what motivated this sick individual. But no matter – the gun control nuts came out almost immediately blaming the NRA and anyone who advocates for the Second Amendment and gun ownership. If after this you still think guns are not the problem, you must just want people to die.

Video Podcast – Let me introduce a Real DREAMer

by: the Common Constitutionalist

I liked to introduce you all to man who long ago fell in love with America – the idea and ideals of our great nation.

His name is Jonathon Dunne and he is a foreigner, from Ireland. He’s also a man who has been trying to come here with the “dream” of becoming an American. But, surprise, surprise – he refuses to sneak into our country like so many millions have. He actually has principles and says he loves America too much to defile it in such a way.

I’ll tell you his story and more, as I discuss my favorite topic – illegal immigration. I think I kept it to one official melt-down this time. read more

Video Podcast – Ben Shapiro Speaks – No One Riots

by: the Common Constitutionalist

Conservative Commentator, author and all around smart guy, Ben Shapiro, was finally given the opportunity to speak on the campus of UC Berkeley a couple of days ago.

The run up to, during and after his speech was an expensive and logistical nightmare. All so one conservative could give one speech on an ultra-liberal college campus.

Shapiro says it cost around $600,000 for police to protect the event. Because of the heavy police presence, it went off with few problems. Think about that. This was a single speech given by a single conservative. It wasn’t a gathering of conservative thinkers – not a round table or conference. It was one guy.

Unlike previous Conservative speakers, Shapiro, and the campus, was afforded the protection necessary for the speech to go off virtually without a hitch. read more
