The Unassailable Squad

from the American Spectator:

The Squad Becomes the Untouchables

When I first heard that Donald Trump went after Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (I had not heard of Ayanna Pressley), I immediately expressed gratitude that someone had the guts to push back. These three congresswomen are unhinged, a fact further revealed a week earlier in the “testimony” of a brazen AOC and a half-sobbing, ready-to-burst Tlaib. The depth of the radicalism of the AOC-Tlaib-Omar troika, in full display after only a few months in Congress, is difficult to express. read more

WND Exclusive – Rumblings of ‘Civilization Jihad’ in Omar’s Rhetoric

from Brent Smith for World Net Daily:

Tucker Carlson of Fox News recently lambasted the America-hating, anti-Semitic U.S. representative from Minnesota, Ilhan Omar.

Omar at CAIR Event

During his monologue, Carlson referred to Omar as being representative of America’s failed immigration system, bringing in someone who hates America and wants to abolish ICE and all deportation programs. He added that she wants open borders, allowing “unlimited arrival of anyone who wants to come to America, whether they have anything to contribute or not.” And if you don’t agree with her, “you’re a bigot.”

Carlson cited a recent profile of Omar in the Washington Post that described her view of the United States as a country that has “failed to live up to its founding ideals, a place that had disappointed her and so many immigrants, refugees and minorities like her.” read more

Dietary Update for Diabetes

No matter what the latest fad diet tells us to do, we already know the general gist of how to stay healthy – eating too much sugar and fat leads to weight gain and metabolic diseases. But what if you could stay healthier without changing your diet? In mouse tests conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research, researchers have now found a way to alter the fat metabolism in the liver, reducing the chances of diabetes without changing a high-fat diet.

Our bodies store fat in adipose tissue, but after eating high amounts of the stuff over a long period of time it begins to build up in more important places like the liver. That in turn can lead to fatty liver disease, which can then reduce the body’s response to insulin and eventually bring on type 2 diabetes.

A group of fats known as ceramides have long been associated with these metabolic diseases, and plenty of research has in the past focused on lowering their levels by blocking the proteins that create them – ceramide synthases. Unfortunately, it hasn’t always gone to plan.

“Other research groups have already shown that blocking ceramide production in mice prevents the development of insulin resistance,” says Philipp Hammerschmidt, first author of the new study. “However, this is associated with a large number of side effects. If, for example, ceramide synthesis is completely inhibited it can adversely affect the development of the animals.”

Dumbest Thing I’ve Heard Yet: Yes to Pot – No to Tobacco

Well, this is rich, and not because it concerns Beverly Hills. Marijuana is now legal for not only medical, but for recreational use throughout the entire State of California. There are pot shops springing up everywhere. Can they in Sacramento not see the irony in this? Can they not see how utterly stupid this is. You can buy pot virtually anywhere in the State, but cigarettes and all tobacco products, as well as even non-tobacco electronic cigarettes will soon enough be outlawed. Just how dumb are the people of California? That’s a rhetorical question.

from the Blaze:

California city may become first in US to ban retail tobacco sales, except in posh cigar lounges

The city of Beverly Hills, California, is poised to become the first city in the U.S. to ban the sale of tobacco products with an exception that would allow posh cigar lounges to remain in business. read more

The Death Of Three Equal Branches

from Conservative Review:

SCOTUS’ Louisiana decision takes Roberts’ power play to a new level of aggression against the Constitution

Will the perfidy of Chief Justice John Roberts finally help conservatives slay their false idol of “appointing better judges” and actually fight against the entire notion of judicial supremacy instead?

I take no pride in seeing my thesis on the judiciary being proven correct every week, but once again we see that once we regard even lower courts as supreme to other branches on purely political questions, then simply “appointing better Supreme Court justices” will not matter. Much like drinking coffee with a fork, the more we accede to judicial supremacy, only using all our capital to get “our guys” on the high tribunal, the more we lose more of the existing members to the system. John Roberts has long ago become the new Anthony Kennedy, a fact that is now becoming obvious even to conservative court-worshippers. read more
